My son has been taking piano lessons here for two years. He was shy and uncomfortable the first day but Miss Erica quickly won him over. She is a wonderfully present and kind teacher who has a way with children. He enjoyed his group lessons and watching him learn to play by ear was so cool! He’s steadily made progress at his own pace. The school is excellent with communication and their recitals are a treat. Erica also stepped up early on during quarantine to find a way make Zoom piano lessons work! Working with less than ideal circumstances, we kept up lessons. I would highly recommend Erica & her school to anyone looking for high quality piano lessons for their children, or even for themselves. Once my daughter is a little older, she will begin lessons here too.

I am beyond satisfied with Airshine. My daughter has been a piano student for almost two years and we are blown away by her growth that has been cultivated by her amazing teacher, Miss Erica.Erica spends time with my daughter to explain and teach hard concepts so that the students grow not just through muscle memory but through music theory knowledge as well.The teachers at this music academy are much more personable, warm, and patient than I remember of my music teachers growing up. I’m glad to be giving my daughter this gift that she will cherish her whole life!

Our family adores Miss Erica and Airshine Music School. Our daughter first started taking music lessons from Miss Erica when she headed the music program at La Jolla Village Montessori preschool. We were so grateful when she opened up Airshine music and started offering private and group lessons for piano and ukulele. Our daughter thinks the world of Miss Erica. She is kind-hearted, patient, and an amazing musician. Her teaching style is sweet, supportive, organized and professional. The Airshine Music studio is bright, clean, and airy with a cheery vibe. Our online Zoom lessons have been going great during the pandemic and we are so happy to be able to continue our daughter’s lessons without skipping a beat. We highly recommend Airshine Music School!

I’m an adult taking piano lessons for a little over a year now. I really can’t recommend Airshine enough, especially Erica! My lessons are structured, tailored to my ability, professional, but perhaps most importantly, they’re fun! I’m amazed with the progress I’ve made in the relatively short amount of time I’ve been playing piano and I’m not only enjoying myself, but I definitely feel that I’m learning how to truly be a musician. Erica is such an observant and attentive teacher and I’m always so impressed when she will notice the smallest details that need to be corrected so that my playing improves. In addition to the high quality of the lessons, I’ve found it extremely easy to schedule lessons, pay, and communicate in general. And while I can’t speak to children’s lessons, I can attest to my brief observations of the children’s programs and they seem incredibly fun with really lovely, welcoming teachers. If you are considering learning a new instrument or enrolling a child, I don’t think you could find a better place than Airshine!

The bond between teacher and child is amazing. It’s a lovely friendship to watch! Paolo is great with my son. He really tunes into him and has built a great learning environment for him. My son absolutely loves going to piano!

Airshine is an excellent music school with an environment and teaching style that makes learning music fun for all. Erica is an AMAZING piano teacher! She is polite, professional and always has a smile on her face. My only regret is that I wish I would have started taking lessons from her sooner! I also love her music studio. Its very clean and upbeat.

Our son has been taking ukelele lessons with Paolo and weve been extremely happy with the school. Erica and Paolo are very accommodating, and they are great with the kids. The recitals are really fun and our son, who can be shy at times, looks forward to participating. Im an adult student who has been taking vocal private lessons with Anna Matuszczak since January, and so far its been a wonderful experience! Ive already noticed a clear improvement in my tone and in my range, as well as in my confidence.I also appreciate the social distancing measures that have been put in place - at no point in time since the COVID-19 outbreak have there been any people other than Anna and myself during lessons, and zoom options are available as well.

I loved Airshine, and I particularly loved Erica as a piano teacher. Many teachers don’t like to teach older adults, but Erica was patient and methodical, and brought me a long way in a short time! Erica Calvert is a great teacher. My daughter had never played an instrument before starting piano lessons. At our first meeting before lessons started, Erica took the time to talk to my daughter about what kind of music she liked and ever since my daughters assignments have been very well tailored to keep her interested and challenged. Erica is also quite flexible in what pieces are studied, and helped my daughter play piano accompaniment in the school musical after less than 6 months of lessons. Erica also arranged other opportunities for her students to gain performance experience in a fun and supportive setting. You can tell that Erica is a true educator, not just someone who knows how to play piano and gives lessons on the side. She incorporates a good amount of music theory into the lessons, in a way that is age and ability appropriate. She is kind and patient but firm, and I think my daughter has gained far more than piano skills from her piano lessons. I have seen adults and children alike flourish in their musical development thanks to Erica. I couldnt be more pleased with our experience.
