Rick always has a very positive energy that makes every lesson the highlight of my week. When I first started taking lessons with Rick, he taught me the basics of drumming and the importance of learning how to read drum charts/music which has ultimately changed my life as a musician. One thing that I really enjoy about going in for my weekly lesson is that there is always something new in store. Ricks 3 drum books cover every possible groove, fill, genre, etc. you could ever imagine and he works on writing new music every day... THAT is dedication. When I realized I wanted to make a living as a drummer, Rick began to give me extremely valuable advice in the music industry coming from his personal experience. Thanks to Rick, I have been able to play in various local bands, build my confidence as a drummer, know how to handle different situations in the industry, and ultimately take my passion and make a living out of it. Rick is hands down the best drum teacher. His style of teaching is both fun and informative. He’s very patient, encouraging, and makes learning fun. His books are great teaching tools and his studio has so many different kinds of percussion instruments to play on. Ive taken lessons here for the past few months, and I cant speak highly enough of Rick. We manage to pack in so much during our sessions. Rick is a really great teacher and manages to bring a ton of energy to the hour. I honestly have so much fun during our time. He can help you with any style of playing you want to want to learn about and answer any questions from technique to gear. Great lessons.

Rick is the best drum teacher you could hope for. He is a fantastic drummer himself, yet he understands what it is like to be completely new to it. He has his own system for teaching people (especially beginners like me) how to play the drums and have fun while doing it. (He has written his own manuals on How to Build a Drum Groove that are easy to follow.) I have been taking lessons with Rick for almost 2 years and I look forward to my 1-hour lesson every week...its better than therapy!
