My daughter was going through alot last year with the scare of the pandemic and lost of her grandmother due to covid and i know we were not the ony ones effected but my daughter became ill mentally and it was and still is hard to get through a day so school was effected yes i admit but the school didnt even offer any help they just withdrew her and for reason they put 7th grade drop out but prior to this i had already discovered no adults and many times an empty room free from school work or teachers all we got out of it was two nasty bad kids who became her friends and now i see withdrawing her was a blessing

I really loved this school year, although I did quite bad the teachers were super helpful and caring. They motivated me to do work whenever I did school in person, they were really nice and understanding too. The principal (I think) seemed really caring about mental health! I love this school and I’m exited for next school year.

I have worked here for 6 years, since the elementary school opened, originally as the 3rd-5th reading facilitator and now the Reading Specialist. Though my opinion may be biased, I absolutely love this school. It has changed my thinking and learning as a facilitator of knowledge. I have felt supported and trusted as a professional to develop my craft and to become the best educator I can be. To follow my students lead in developing the knowledge they need.Through inquiry, I have seen children take charge of their learning, find their voice and confidence, and grow in ways we dont normally consider in schooling - as people in a community. The highest compliment I have ever received from a parent is, He thinks differently now. He asks more questions. To teach children to think is the best education we can give them. To trust them with the power of their own learning is the best gift we can give them.Belong. Find Joy. Be Great. -. More than just words.

There were so many red flags with this place.Today I accompanied my son and his wife for a campus tour and we were VERY disappointed and appaled by the lack of safety protocols. When we walked to the elementary building, the front door from the parking lot was wide open and there were kids playing right behind the reception area without any adults in sight. The door leading to that area was wide open too by the way. There was no one in sight in the recetion area either and after 5 minutes a lady step out and went to get somobody to assist us. We waited for almost 15 minutes. In the meantime the kids were playing unattended. Another teacher step out from one of the classrooms off to the side and saw me standing right there by the entrance facing the group of kids. Did not bother to ask who I was, or if I need assistance. She just walked out to anorher building. No questions asked.First impressions are most important when you are looking for a good school for your child. We were looking forward for this one. Even my 4 year old grandson left sad and dissapointed . A shame.As an experienced teacher myself, I know the importance to provide a safe environment for our students. We should never leave children that parents are trusting to our care unattended or exposed to be vulnerable to strangers.When finally someone showed up for our tour (15 minutes later than our scheduled time), we advised her that we were no longer interested. She did not asked why or seemed to be concerned about why we were walking out. After all, they do have a waiting list of trusting parents waiting for their kids to be enrolled here. Right?Not our kid.

Last year my child had Ms. Neill and he was more productive/successful than ever before. This year she is not a teacher there and his desire to learn is gone. She is a special person and allowed my child to have a premium educational experience.We want Me. Neill back.She turned this school into a top notch learning facility and without her, it is not nearly as great.-Dr. Hill

My child is now a senior at AFIA. The best school for learning on a whole new level. I love that it is technology based and allows students to work at a pace best suited for them while allowing a chance to allow to explore more options. Dual classes via UT Austin are a plus via OnRamps is my childs favorite.The head of schools has been fabulous especially during distance learning.You will not be disappointed in this non traditional school.

My middle schooler transferred from public school early 2020. Pandemic hit. The school was incredibly helpful with online programs and reached out often to ensure communication was provided. In the short amount of time my child was present she has been the happiest I have ever seen her. The school is unconventional as it allows the child to work in an environment best suited to them. This is not your cookie cutter school that forces children to sit at a boring desk and zone out. I look forward to seeing my child grow and becone more independent.

I have a 2nd grader and a 7th grader who both love going to school. They have both grown so much and have learned alot in the short amount of time we have been here already.

We have been a proud members of the AFIA community for the past 4 years, and have seen many changes and growth within that time. One of our main reasons for enrolling at AFIA was the inquiry based learning model. My then 4th grader was bored with having to sit in a traditional classroom all day. At AFIA she was given the opportunity to explore the topics that she was learning in the classroom. She was also given the opportunity to apply what she is learning into everyday situations through this learning model. This gave her a connection to what she was learning, that she was not able to get before. We now have all three of our children there. Each one has a unique and different learning style, but they have each been able to learn and thrive. We love the dedication that the head of school, elementary school principal, and staff have towards the students. The response during the chaos of the pandemic has been amazing. In a time when there is an overall sense of uncertainty, they have maintained an exceptional level of communication with parents. They have also offered different choices in learning pathways in order to meet students needs. We look forward to our childrens continued growth as students at AFIA all the way until graduation!

Such a terrible school. It was good but now it has gone down hill so much. The teachers are doing their best but brain nation is just so awful. I recommend you find a different charter school. But again the teacher are wonderful people but brain nation is awful and should have never opened this school.

Not very fun. Most of the hs teachers are buddy-buddy with the cliquey kids, and join in with them to talk smack about other students. /cough cough/ especially the art teacher /cough/. The English teacher was super nice though, and always had really interesting class subjects. I left last year, so hopefully the new staff isn’t as blatantly terrible. (And I really hope Mr. C is still teaching, super cool and open-minded dude).

Both my daughters love it here. This is their second year. My middle school student has anxiety so I was concerned with how shed adjust to middle school. She has made great friends. She said the staff does a good job handling bullying at school. She gets plenty of help when shes struggling with classwork including after school tutoring. She joined sports which is out of her comfort zone. This year she joined robotics, theater, and sports. Ive seen such a positive change since she started here. My elementary school student also loves it. She is a social butterfly but did experience some learning difficulties early on. The teachers were very attentive and the communication was great. She has confidence asking her teachers for help. I also like that they do not have too much homework if any. The middle school has plenty of study hall time for my oldest to finish quite a bit at school. She said she can finish at school but chooses to do some work at home. I can see where there can be improvements but the positive outways the negative for our family. Overall my kids are happy, healthy, and learning.

I didn’t like it

We have two children that attend Anne Frank Inspire Academy, a middle schooler and a high schooler. They are both SO happy. The transition from their old schools was made easy by the wonderful teachers and administration. My kiddos have also easily made friends. I now have my elementary school aged child asking about when they will attend Anne Frank because his older siblings talk so highly of it!Update: My 5th grader now attends AFIA. He literally said it is the best school he has ever attended! Again, the teachers and administration made his transition very smooth and full of fun. The two older kiddos continue to enjoy their school experience. All 3 look forward to school everyday.

I am a student at Anne Frank Inspire Acadmy and I personally love this school compared to other schools. There is some freedom that kids take for granted. But however my learning style fits what this school has to offer. There is ups and downs, over all a great school.

Great school, faculty, staff. I’m a bit jealous that my child is able to attend such an awesome school :)

If you wish to leave the weight of the world on your child(s) shoulders and have them slave for work over the break if you would even call it that. You go home for Christmas and wake up to an email saying Dont forget that social studies project! Ohhhhh and dont get me started on this schools drama, If you want your child to be exposed to things you would never want him to well then to bad, to sad! Staff doesnt know how to take care of kids and all the promises made by have never actually stayed true. You might not care for this review but its better to get it from someone who actually experienced it. If wish for an actual full review thats not mostly a joke email me.

I think its a pretty good school, that being said I wish i never went here.

I go here for 8th grade and I absolutely love it it has a great environment for all types of kids. This school is an amazing place if your child (or you) likes to move at their own pace.

This is NOT a school for just anyone. It is run more like a college campus than a high school. The student has to be self disciplined and eager to learn. My son has excelled at this school. He is on top of all of his work and is actually taking Calculus at NWV through AFIAs dual credit program. Is this school perfect, no. But a lot has to be said for the child attending. If they are the type that needs to be stood over & reminded repeatedly to behave and keep busy, then this is not the school for them. If they are independent, curious, and have a real passion for learning then they will find a wonderful home here. We love AFIA!!!

Beautiful school but more concerned with getting kids enrolled ($$) than delivering a good quality education. Blaming all issues on the kids when they are very understaffed and dont take time with students is absurd. I was assured that the hot head teacher who endangered my childs safety (and seemed to find joy in belittling students) didnt have his contract renewed so I didnt review at first as I thought they were serious about improving the school. Now Ive found that its not true, hes still there!So dissapointed to hear the school/district continues to tolerate such behavior. Our experience was with upper elementary. I have no idea if other parts of the school have similar issues. They have less employees and more students now overall so...

Unfortunately I have to post this for other parents and students. My boys were at this school for 3years. This school concept is so appealing but they promise the world with no back up from the school district. The head of school is well educated and has good intentions. But thats a challenge when your school district higher ups dont back you. Stay away from this school little to no supervision and independent translates to be on your cell phone if you want. The teachers are facillatators Sounds good but not a good learning environment and most students have left with severe anxiety cause they got used to such small classrooms. No that doesnt help students learn life skills. Tons of turnover with teachers facillatators Im saddened to write this but its all sadly true and to me this school is tragedically existing.

Poor support from charter district to AFIA, disorganized, underfunded, and the execution of the learning model never fully developed. Our kiddo is better in public school this year. We don’t recommend AFIA

If I could rate a negative star I would. The school is highly disorganized. The school started off the year allowing students to pick electives- that ended up cancelled, disappointing students and having them change to another elective. They are inconsistent with school work, half the elementary staff seriously has no clue what they are doing or how to use their online learning program Learning. For instance, They sent my 5 year old son home with someone NOT on his pickup list, not even asking for ID. Then- on 11/28/16 I went to pick up my 5 year old and they told me he had already been picked up. I voiced my concerns to the principal Mrs. Payne, asking where my son was- even reinforced the fact that that they had already handed my child to someone not on his pickup list- She was NOT concerned at all, brushing me aside without any care that my 5 year old was missing from school- directing me inside to his teacher. Once again his oblivious teacher had no idea where my son was! It doesnt even concern her- a kindergarten teacher- that her student was missing. I had to have my 6th grader search the elementary school rooms to find my son. AND ONCE AGAIN- one of his facilitators (AKA teacher) Mr. Buchanon, said he (my 5 year old) told them he was in after school program (which i have NEVER signed him up for nor paid for).This isnt the first time they have changed my son from parent pickup with his siblings and held him in the classroom without anyone asking them too- Mrs Sterling saying that I told her to change him- The day before I specifically spoke to her face to face and told her not to change my childs pick up.Another thing, my 6th grader fell in the pond at school. And i have to say these people, including Dr. E are idiots. My son hit his head and leg and they did not call 911- Dr E called me to tell me he was in and out of consciousness, not providing the proper care by calling emergency services. **Please note there is NO school nurse on site** When I arrived to the school they had my child sitting on a chair dripping wet by the pond- not only did they not call an ambulance they had moved him and had him sitting up, when i spoke with my son he had a 4 second response delay, disorientation, & confusion.They have had teachers leave already this year, and no structure. When I enrolled my 5th grader in the spring, the principal Mrs Payne attempted to deter me from enrolling my child, stating that the school was meant for Self motivated kids, and it may not be a good fit for her. - Never mentioning they do in fact offer Special Ed classes and honor 504 program.I really wish this school was as good as they market it to be. The constant level of disorganization is evident even in the emails they send. Its frustrating for a parent, I can only imagine for a student.

The design is beautiful. The academics in the elementary school are ridiculous, and the teachers treat it like a daycare. You drop off your child so that they can spend their day coloring. If you want your child to learn anything, you will have to demand it from the Superintendent and then spend the next six weeks dealing with the elementary school Principal Ms Moreno switching the child back and forth between the classes they are supposed to be in, to the daycare class they were formerly in (so you get to miss work, set aside your classes to help catch up your children)***duly note that the kindergarten teacher is actually going above and beyond to give my child who is in a higher grade challenging work. The rest give him coloring sheets, and grade him on daily dressIf your child is injured at school, they wont do anything. If anything they are likely to contribute to the injury. Our daughter was punched by a boy out on the blacktop resulting in her bleeding all over her shirt and pants - also resulting in a concussion. The 1st-2nd facilitator who was supposed to be watching the students shoved her by her neck through the cafeteria and just dumped her at the main office with no explanation. (that came later from other students, and parents)The first week of school the 1-2 facilitator tried to claim our child was illiterate because he was a homeschooler; our son attended a bilingual immersion school. He is now out of her class, and doing great. the few children still left in her class are still spending their days coloring pictures.The first week of school, the principal suspended a large amount of special needs children and told their parents that this was not the school for them. She also advised she over enrolled because she expected people to quit, and that was why she was not distributing supplies. The supply fee is 75$ and they will hit you up like a mafia bookie for that fee, yet you will see NOTHING. Our youngest went almost 5 weeks without the binder they gave all of the students. We were also told that we HAD to purchase Anne Frank tshirts and polos which for two children cost over $100, the Principal advised us after we made the purchase that it was no longer required. (we werent the only parents int he elementary school who had been misadvised)One special needs child had welts put on him by teachers who had dragged him around by his ankles. Their excuse was that they had never had to deal with something like that before and didnt know what to do. The parents withdrew their child.Currently in K-2 they do not have a science teacher. 3-5 lost their science and math teacher because the Principal chased them away. The K-2 science teacher took the 3-5 position (can you keep up with it?) There is no social studies in 3-5, the children just sit there in an empty room. They had one assignment, to build a fast food menu which has NOTHING to do with TEKS and that was assigned to 3-5 by the Music teacher who is too busy teaching music to K-5 to keep up with social studies.They claim they have a security video system but it doesnt work because if it did, you would see someone (an adult) who spends their day sitting in a corner of a classroom eating all day, every day just eating.while kids just kind of sit around. There also would be video of how they treat the children.Finally, how many of the teachers and administrators have their children attending elementary school there? One of them actually disenrolled her son the week the principal went on her first week of school rampage of suspending the special needs children.The principal doesnt even send her children to the school.These people are supposed to be educated, and the state outlines what our children are at a minimum are supposed to be learning yet they arent. On Monday 10/08/2015 They told our children it was a release day so instead of classes they had the children cleaning the entire school with chemicals. Release day does not mean violate child labor laws.

Lets just say I spent my whole 6th and 7th grade year crying myself to sleep here.
