We are extremely happy with the lessons here. All the instructors are kind, attentive and patient. Our daughter has become dedicated to advancing in her riding skills, and this enthusiasm is reflected by the dedication of the staff. Just a wonderful family run business, who treat their horses, and their students, with the utmost respect and care.

Last September we decided it was time for our 8yr old to learn to ride. Asked our riding friends in the North Austin area for a Barn recommendation. Almost unanimously, they recommended Paul Cates Stables. Very friendly & professional staff, Bo, Craig, Paul, Staff & Teenage volunteers are amazing! The horses are beautiful, well trained & safe for children.Excellent location, I highly recommend Paul Cates Stables. If I could give more stars I would!

These guys are great ! My kids love the indivual attention they get . Horses are so calm and listen very well . We love this place, its inexpensive with a 5 star service 😊👍

Paul Cates stables is fantastic. Everyone who works there is nothing but kind, the horses are well trained (not to mention gorgeous), and the environment itself is positive. It doesnt matter what age or skill set you are: you can learn something by training here.

I rode at this stable when I was a teenager that didn’t know much about horses. I have since been privileged to ride with a number of trainers the treat their horses well and train them well. I would caution folks that are interested in Mr. Cates’ training to consider the fact that I have seen him beat horses and blister their skin for the high-stepping gait associated with American saddle seat. Perhaps he has developed more ethical practices in recent years, but you should ask, inform yourself and pay CAREFUL attention before riding here.

Paul Cates Stables is a wonderful facility for people of all ages to learn to ride horses and it is located in the heart of Round Rock. They give both inside and outside lessons and also have summer camps for the kids. Both of my daughters have gone there for years.
