The Paratus Academy has been a great experience for my daughter. Art and the guys are great at breaking down moves for the kids and are so patient every step of the way. When your kids are around a group every day you hope they enjoy it and my kid loves it. They celebrate the wins and support them through the lows and are great male role models for my little girl. I couldnt be happier with them or recommend them more.

My son (6 years old) has wanted to be a ninja for some time now... lol. I decided to go with Paratus Academy because they offered a free week trial. My son is shy so I wasnt sure he would stay commited.Art, Pat and Gino are great coachs. They are amazing with my shy 6 year old son and are very patient with the kids. I was so impressed with their coaching style I joined my self!! Both my son and I are about 2 weeks in and we LOVE it. We always look forward to training. If you are looking for a great kid friendly, family friendly, Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Kickboxing Academy, Paratus is the place.

Art is an incredible instructor. He creates an environment you want to be a part of. You will walk away from his classes having learned new jiu jitsu, had fun, made friends and gotten a good sweat in! Art stands out from other instructors for many reasons but one worth noting is he is EXCEPTIONAL with kids. I highly recommend Art for kids and adults alike and for hobbyists and competitors. He will help you grow no matter your goal.

Art Vega is a great teacher, for kids and adults alike. He taught my daughter for four years (ages 5 though 9) and my son for three years (ages through 5 through 7). In that time my kids learned discipline, resilience, and BJJ all while making new friends and having a lot of fun too.As a parent who attended and watched the kids classes closely, I was able to add some of those moves to my bjj game too! Thanks Art!

I would have given 7 stars, but I had to take two off because Professor Art opened his academy so far away from us. Our family has trained with Art since 2015 and we literally cried when he told us he was moving.KIDS:My kids cant agree on anything, but they all love Art. Boys and girls, ages 5-12. What amazes me is that Art can make any kid feel welcome, whether they are shy, outgoing, rough, bullied, sassy, goofy, serious. He spends time getting to know each student and respects their differences while teaching to their strengths. Nobody slips through the cracks. He easily holds kids attention while teaching, yet gets down on the mat to play games with them. Hell probably give your kid a cool jiujitsu nickname since hes terrible at remembering names - quickly feels like family! Easily one of the best teachers at any school or sports program Ive seen - Art will win them over!ADULTS:Awesome training for grown-ups too! Great attention to detail, very patiently answers all my annoying questions. You can tell he truly loves jiujitsu, and its infectious. He teaches solid techniques that I use regularly... but he also can whip out the super fancy stuff (reverse de la worm into a what under where?!) to keep you entertained. Lets be honest - I tend to be antisocial and lazy - but jiujitsu with Art is SO FUN! Laughing, learning, sweating, dying all at the same time.If you are in the area, definitely check out Paratus!

Were excited for Art and his new studio and really wish him the best (he deserves it). Art taught my daughter for over a year, primarily when leading the kids classes at Milton Bastos Academy in Mountain View before opening his new studio, the Paratus Academy, in Cordova. Art is an exceptional teacher and in particular has a real talent for engaging with and teaching kids. He is precise with his technique and understands the challenges required to encourage and motivate his students. After watching the kids classes for over a year, Ive seen that he creates a welcoming environment for kids both new and experienced at BJJ. As equally impressive, Ive seen that over the course of several months, the kids new at BJJ start to show up to class with a higher level of confidence, courage, and fitness. For my own child, he raised her level of BJJ, encouraging her to compete at local tournaments and taking time out of his weekend to coach her and the other Ares kids. My daughter also found that the style of BJJ he teaches really suited her well. I think a significant factor is that Art is an active competitor. The kids see first hand the amount of hard work and discipline it takes to prepare for a competition. If you are ever in Mountain View and stop by Milton Bastos Academy to ask about Art, Im sure youll find a room full of athletes, parents, and kids eager to praise Art. We cant wait to stop by his Paratus Academy when were in the area!
