My grandchildren compete at I Love Dance, as my daughter did before them. At 39 years and counting, I Love Dance is a well-run yet friendly competition. Each dancer receives a participation ribbon, rosettes and trophies are given out in several dance categories and experience levels, and there are six awards that come with money. Dancers also have the opportunity to show off their skills in the student choreography divisions. The judges are always well qualified, with varied dance backgrounds and accomplishments. Its sad when people who dont win feel the need to tear down the competition. The results are simply what the judges saw on that given day.I Love Dance does some things different from other competitions, but the reasons for these things are all clearly explained. I would recommend the I Love Dance experience to any dancer or studio.

The most unorganized dance competition Ive ever witnessed. They run out of programs, they make you feel like a thief because God forbid your stamp rubs off a little after youve had it on all day. They could move through the dances much faster if they didnt open and close the doors before and after every dance. And I quote please welcome the dancers on with applause and only applause if Ive forked out as much money as I have to be here, Im going to holler as much as I want for my dancer. I cringe going to the awards for these because they take forever and frankly I cant stand to listen to the announcers voices any longer. Not to mention the locations they have these events at are not equipped to handle the amount of people at them and it makes for an awful hotel experience. If you are a dance group or parent it is not worth the time and money to go to.

Most Professional, on time, organized, fair for ALL LEVELS...we enjoy it to the FULLEST- year after year!It saddens me to see such sour grapes in a few of the other reviews-sad in the fact that SOME just cant abide by rules of ANY KIND! I read one reviewer angry about the applause only rule. This person wants to hollow as loud as possible. Please -there are rodeos for the like. AND I have I say, anyone claiming I LOVE DANCE is unorganized is simply lying. My guess is these people SHOULD attend the competitions where EVERYONE wins... Personally, I like a little sport and sportsmanship ❤️

My daughter has been dancing for 12 years 8 of them competitive. We did 16 competitions last year. This was the WORST experience I have ever had. First they have so many rules that make it seem like you are in school when this is supposed to be fun, They have you dancing on a flat ballroom floor where your dancer cannot turn properly they frown upon props that take a lot of time and effort, they take a ton of breaks and fall behind, the venues picked do not have elevated seating so you can not even see your child or group dancing, Not to mention they charge at the door $5! And on top of it check it every time like you are trying to sneak in. They literally use things from 100 years ago the music was played on a tiny portable cd player!!!???? Sounded horrible .... Just wait gets worse! So you pay these fees to register your child and they do not even give every child an honorable message! No pin, no ribbon.... they group solo and groups together and only do top three and you get a 10 cent ribbon or a crappy trophy. The winners were also not judged on talent or experience when asked about how my child who wins titles and firsts at REAL competitions was not even mentioned they literally had no real answer except our company needs to get lower to the ground!!?? They were rude and miserable and looked at our company like we were nuts. Yes we danced different.... we danced like he modern day dance right now and clearly they are not caught up with technology, judges or people in charge. This was a scam to collect money. They are hurting kids feelings. It should not be about who they know and dances with them year after year it should be about talent. After the money you spend this should NOT be the outcome. I am embarrassed for this company and have never seen anything like what i experienced this weekend. It was pitiful and should be shut down. Did I mention the judges our writing results on paper and using a typewriter so they our not looking at the dancer most of the time!!!! A disgrace and waste of anyones time! I only put one star because it made me pick at least one!

Very out dated. You had to burn every song on a cd individually and it took forever in between numbers. Also theres not a real stage so it makes it hard to see all the dancers. Also the categories are HORRIBLE! Jazz/hip hop, lyrical/modern/ballet, Tap/acro, and variety arts/acro/ethnic, theres only 4 categories to compete in. These should all be seperate.

By far, the worst dance competition out there. Our company has been to several competitions and this one should be shut down. We went I LOVE DANCE for the beginner level students in company this season. The rest of our competitive company decided to join them. Our competitive company competes at (Spotlight, KAR, Showbiz, Starbound, etc) and their scores are always just points away from perfect. How could the results be so drastically different at I love dance??? (Mind you, we had park district level & recital routines am against our dancers). The judges were confronted about their critiques and could not back up what they wrote. They simply said we judge on more than costumes, props and choreography we look for dancers who dance from the heart.... With that we could not take anymore lol. Of course every kid that steps on that floor (not stage) dances from the heart. This competition is a joke.
