Our family has been enrolled at Oregon Hope Chinese school since 2017. Min and her small, play-based, mix-aged preschool have been a great fit for both of my kids. This home-based preschool is located next to a public playground and green space that the kids frequently visit and explore with their teachers when the weather is nice. The school itself also has a large fenced outdoor space with covered areas for the kids to play. Each month there is a new theme/subject that the students learn about and discuss during their daily morning circle time. They have weekly arts and craft projects they bring home. The kids get structured learning time, but also a lot of opportunities for free play. Min used to arrange for school performances at Asian Festivals and during the holidays, but that hasn’t happened this past year due to Covid. The older students have daily Mandarin (reading and writing) lessons when the younger kids, who still need naps, do so. The mixed age set up at the school encourages learning and respect amongst the students. My kids love all of their teachers at the school, including their online Saturday Mandarin school teacher, whom they have yet to meet in person because of covid restrictions. The teachers at this school are all experienced and they care for their students. They invest time and energy to each individual child to help them overcome their own set of challenges. This school has helped my kids learn a second language, while building confidence and allowing them to grow academically and socially. We are happy to have found OHCS.

My older daughter Anjelica has been with Oregon Hope Chinese School for almost 4 years and her younger sister Zoe for 1.5 years. Anjelica can read the Chinese text books for first graders now, and can write many Chinese words. More amazingly, she knows how to use abacus a little. It is such a nice place to let children be themselves, exploring the world. Anjelica will go to elementary school this fall, and will comeback for after school care. Zoe will likely finish all her preschool development here too.

My son is 6 and he has been attending the Saturday Chinese immersion class for one year. Although only once a week, he already made friends at the school. The class setting is casual and bilingual. So even Chinese is not my sons native language, he still is able to follow it along. For the lower level class, the class is using art as the mean of teaching. My son has been singing Chinese songs at home! Great school!

My daughter has been in this school since she is 3 years old, and she did a full-time Kindergarten program here. She is currently in 1st grade now, and still goes here for after-school program and summer camp. My daughter is a happy trilingual child (We speak Japanese at home). Im often asked how come I dont speak any Chinese when kids are speaking in fluent Chinese! Instructors combine music, movements and language learning together. Kids sing in Chinese and English as they dance with music. It is really fun and and effective. Children always get a lot of compliments when they perform in the public culture events. The school is located next to a nature park. My children also enjoy summer camp program here each year as there are a lot of outdoor activities to engage children in hand-on experiments. I love the mixed age group. Older children help younger ones and younger children learn from big brothers and sisters. It is a nice and supportive environment for everyone. Great school!

This is a Chinese immersion preschool for ages 3 through kindergarten. There are wonderful teachers. The main teacher is so patient, kind and very consistent. She teaches the children Chinese poems, songs and does tons of crafts (both Chinese and American holiday themed). The children also does performances at the Chinese Garden and Convention Center for Chinese holidays. The setting is small and intimate, which is very good for those kiddos who need a little bit more attention. She is also very accommodating when it comes to the schedule, as long as her teacher:student ratio works. It has been a great experience for my kiddo who has been going since he was 3 yrs old.

Our son has gone to Oregon Hope and teacher Kong for 2 years and we love it. We continue to go despite the commute from our house because the teachers have genuine relationships with him and you can tell that this is a calling for them. He struggled at first in the school setting and they worked hard with him individually. Now hes doing great and loves school. Particularly, he loves how much outdoor play they get and the weekly themes. We plan on sending our daughter there when shes old enough. This is the place to send your children if you want a family atmosphere and a personalized approach to your childs education.

My daughter has been attending Oregon Hope Chinese Saturday School since we moved here a few years ago. She started in Level 1 and is currently in Level 3. The classes are held in our neighborhood public school. The location is very convenient and the facility is great. Im very happy we found this school when we moved here. It provided a great opportunity for my daughter to learn Chinese reading, writing, and more importantly, to keep connected with her cultural heritage. The curriculum is well designed for America-born Chinese children. Teachers are very passionate and responsible because most of them also enrolled their children in the school. Besides Chinese, the Saturday school also offers Chinese painting, martial arts, and dance. I have been enjoying the adult dance classes very much and we have been invited to perform in Lansu Garden and the convention center in celebration of Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn festivals every year.

My son is currently attending this great small private Chinese immersion school and we couldnt be happier. The school is a house that offers a small setting that is exactly what we were looking for. The teachers are very attentive and the owner is extremely flexible with the hours and scheduling. Each morning the kids are dropped according to the parent schedule and there are no strict time attendance or penalties. The kids have free play time before circle time and often there are arts & craft activities that vary in theme. Weather permitting, the school has a huge back yard with plenty of play structures for the kids to enjoy. My son has been going there for 6 months now and we can really notice his growth and understanding of Mandarin. If you are looking for small private, home school setting with a chance your kids to learn Mandarin then I highly recommend you give this school a chance. The parents or child are not required to be of Chinese origin as quite a few of the families are not, including us.

Finding the right preschool is not easy, who knew that even at this age deciding where to send your little one would be so hard. There are so many emotions and expectations in play. For us it was important to find the right atmosphere where our son would feel not only comfortable but also loved. I cannot remember how many schools we toured, I’ve lost count. We asked everybody, we heard so many experiences, great recommendations and yet we were not 100% sure about any of them. Finally we google OHCS and took the tour. From the moment we spoke on the phone to making the appointment to the end of the tour we had the feeling that this was the right one. During the tour our son fit right in and felt very comfortable. We were looking for a space where he could socialize, play and have fun. We loved the idea of a mixed age group. The room is spacious, clean and organized very neat. We liked the garden and chickens and my son loves the wood stomp. There is a beautiful little park next door where they go and explore. It’s very safe since they use the back door to access the park. There are 3 teachers who are respectful, loving, kind and clear when it comes down to making sure the kids follow the rules and respect each other. The kids love them.On the other hand, there is another plus. Learning a different language in a multicultural community. We also attend the Saturday school. We are fascinated with the activities they offer such as wushu for our son and Taichi for my husband and me. This is something we do as a family and always looking forward to it.A year has past since we picked this school. We are very happy here and we are definitely going to continue for the next school year.

This school was seriously a huge blessing! We were scrambling to find a daycare/preschool that would fit what we were looking for due to my wife going back to work and somehow we found this place! seriously a gift! Our little one was in a previous day care where the workers were on their phones and it was literally a daycare, dirty and grimy and just no learning/development happening. Here at Oregon Hope Chinese school, my little one is actually in school! she is learning songs, learning about specific topics, spelling, letters and even now writing characters in manderin! She is learning new things everyday and on top of that its a pure immersion mandarin program. The teachers are amazing, very warm and caring and truly vested into these childrens lives, so much that they come to birthday parties and special events! We highly recommend this school if you are looking for a place to know that your child is learning and developing and in a secure place where you know the teachers actually care about what your child is learning and preparing them for Kindergarten and beyond. Our little one is in her 2nd year here and definitely will miss this place! The plus side is that they have summer school here so well definitely putting her here during the summer! My daughter loves this place, i ask her everyday, what were your highs and lows and she always every day says All Highs! She is happy, she is growing Thank God we found this place! A+++++ highly recommend! Worth every penny!

My husband and I have been sending our 2 children to Oregon Hope Chinese School for preschool so we have known the main teacher, Min Kong, for a very long time. She has become like an extended family to us. Our eldest daughter attended her first preschool here when she was 3. She was not the most easy going kid and I still remember she was a bit cautious going to school for the first time. Ms. Kong was very patient and understanding and helped her (and us, the parents) ease into the transition. Now is our youngest sons turn to enter preschool. He too was a bit cautious for the first few months but both of them gradually love spending time at school. They made good friends, learned a ton of Chinese (which is our main reason for choosing the school), learned discipline, respect, but also having fun. When I pick both kids up from school, they all have smiles on their faces. I still remember with my daughter, she actually begged me to stay longer so she can play more with her friends. The school has a good-sized playground filled with many play structures. I love their small student:teacher ratio so everyone gets enough attention in class. Ms. Kong creates a monthly theme for the kids, for example this month they are learning about the Solar System, the previous months they were learning Modes of Transportation, Weather, Life at Farm. They also learn and celebrate Chinese and American Holidays: Chinese New Year, Mooncake Festival, Thanksgiving, Christmas. They would bring home really nice art projects and I would collect them as keepsakes. All teachers speak to them fully in Chinese Mandarin so they can pick up the language faster. All in all, my husband and I are very happy to have found a good and safe Chinese Immersion preschool for our kids. We highly recommend this place to any parent :)
