We have all 3 kids at Christie for 4 yrs now and we love the school. Our kids love going to school each day. The teachers and staff are friendly and caring. We look forward to seeing the wonderful changes coming to Christie. The principal Mr. Steele and his staff of awesome teachers are truly dedicated to making sure every child at Christie succeeds. Please dont let the outdated reviews scare you. Give your child the best learning experience here at Christie Elementary....you will be very impressed...you will not be disappointed! :)

I know, from talking to parents in the community, that a lot of people chose to transfer their kids to Thomas or somewhere else entirely, without even checking out Christie for themselves because the online reviews are mostly negative, even though they are very outdated. Let me just say, though, weve been at Christie for 3 years and I cant say I understand why anyone would want to transfer out. Ive been impressed with the positive attitudes of every single teacher and staff member Ive come in contact with. Mr. Steele, who has been our assistant principle, is now the new principle this year. He is very open and transparent with the parents. Every teacher has a blog so the parents can know what their kids have been working on. Some will say, but its a Title 1 school... and imply that our kids will be at a learning disadvantage because of that. However, BECAUSE we are Title 1 we are able to have more specialists, and more funding for programs that other schools dont get. One of the most awesome examples of this is the new Learning Commons in our library which has all sorts of robotics, engineering, drama, and technology-rich problem solving collaborative spaces for more hands on learning opportunities. We are the first school in PISD to have this kind of enrichment space and everyone is super excited about it! If you are moving into the area, come visit the school before you make your decision.

My son has been here for 3 years, and our family loves this school. I understand that things were bad enough six or seven years ago that people were transferring out of the school, but the previous principal turned things around, and her successor, Mr. Steele (previously assistant principal for 2 years) is extremely energetic with lots of vision for the school. The staff that Ive come into contact with are so very caring, and Ive even gotten choked up many times because of all the love I feel in the school. They care about the kids, not solely about test scores. I cant say enough good things about Christie!

Our experience with this school overall definitely has not been a positive one! My daughter has ALWAYS loved going to school until she came to Christie for 5th grade. I am sad to say that the staff has been overheard speaking poorly about some of the children and parents on more than one occasion. I read a previous review that mentioned the lack of one on one the children get and I agree 100% with that. Class sizes are close to 30 students with 1 teacher. If you believe in individuality, this is not the place for it. I am giving one star because the camp they offer for the 5th graders. Out of the entire school year, it was just about the only positive experience, and that was because the YMCA staff that ran the camp was phenomenal.

This Is the best school I have ever been to! Great teachers and great staff! I am in 5th grade and I have been here since kindergarten! I am the door holder and I stand in the front since the first day of 4th grade! I am so sad that its my last here at Christie. Mostly all of my teachers left. I really love this school!

If you want your child to get one on one time this school is not the place for your family. My son went threw a stage of frustration and now he is labeled that kid!! Kids are mean and cut in line and say hateful things but if my sons reacts to this he is the problem. Its sad that a school as recognized as Plano cant take the time out to see whats really going on in that school and do something about it! I am pulling my son out at the end of the year to go to a smaller and a better school with communication between the staff and the children. I will not tell my son it is ok to let people walk over him or say rude and hateful things and to expect no reaction from him. Not once has the counselor talked to myself or my son but they are worried .
