Took my guitar here for set up, electronics repair, and other things. Got the guitar back in amazing time (less than a week), and for an amazing price. 10/10 will go back. They may be a smaller outlet than a big box store, but its well worth it. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

Just moved into town and I thought I just had an issue with a tuning peg on my 65 Gibson Hummingbird. I was wrong They quickly pointed out a few minor issues with the neck and fingerboard and were able to fix it quicker then expected. I’m overwhelmingly pleased with how they were able to fix up my tuning peg, and were able to bring my guitar up to 10/10 condition without having to change any pieces on the guitar. My guitar now feels and plays better then I could have expected. Very glad I wondered upon this shop. Won’t be going anywhere else, that’s for damn sure

A small mom and pop music store surrounded by the chain stores (GC and Sam Ash) offering guitars amps and drums plus accessories. Their specialty is their selection of quality Taylor guitars and was the first store to bring the Taylor line to PHX. Clint is a seasoned, very knowledgeable owner who takes the time to gift expert advice. After 2 visits I became a customer today and cant recommend them highly enough. Its rare these days to find stores like this that go the extra mile and are not bound to corporate dictates and thus provide fair pricing and generous trade in values. Spread the word!

We have been renting a Cello from Boogie music for 3 years and couldnt be more please with the service we have had. Their policy on rent to own is fantastic! Another child just started with the trumpet so I dug mine out of the garage and brought it in for a tune up. We agreed on a price, and it was sent off. It took about a week and when it came back several things that were not discussed at first had happened to repair my trumpet. A new price was never even mentioned and the original price was honored. I am so impressed with Boogie Music!!!

First time going to the store and was honestly excited to buy a ukelele and as I walked in me and my friends were rudely approached by a lady who practically shoved us out the door and told us we needed a mask and only one person at a time even though she herself was not wearing one. As I exited I informed her that there was no sigh on the door stating any of this and it would be a good idea to place one up. I walked to my car got my mask and walked back to the store to find it locked I stood outside for a few minutes and was disappointed to not even have an employee tell me to please wait for further assistance. Horrible customer service I totally get whats going on and Im happy to wear my mask but please plan your reopening better.

This place is wonderful great local business! We really need to be supporting each other right now in these uncertain times. They are always so lovely when my partner and I come here, my partner his name is Noah, he has been a drummer for the past 18 years and is now wanting to try guitar. Noah went into the store all nervous unsure about what he wanted, worried about spending too much money and also unfortunately a little bit frustrated frustrated because he just wanted a guitar to play, he only ever gets holidays off, it was Easter, bwe had been to three other guitar stores that day, he was losing his mind just a wee bit and this wonderfully kind employee was patient he really tried to answer noahss questions, hear Noahs concerns. For me the Hallmark of a good business is to bestow the confidence you have in yourself in your product into your customers, Noah came out of the store with this beautiful guitar and the confidence that he made the right choice for his situation and he would not have been able to do that without the help of the patient staff here at Boogie Music. Forever grateful for you guys💚💚

They will not sell you small pieces for bass instruments (i.e. springs, valve corks, or other small parts) instead they insist on bringing the instrument to their repair shop (not really expensive to do either) but if you are a person like me who needs their instrument on the daily it would be more time efficient to just buy the piece and fix it my self.

They’re always very helpful and accommodating. Multiple times have fixed things for free. Provided a free new case for my daughters rented cello-even though it was my daughter’s fault that the zipper broke. All the staff is very knowledgeable about a lot of instruments. (The Grinch that stole music.)I feel like Boogie Music is a great little music store, if you can avoid the owner. (Based on about 20 visits over 2 years and ballpark $1300 spent.) My impression is that the owner is overworked, doesnt delegate enough, and runs on small margins that keep him stressed out and always a few seconds away from snapping on someone. Dont get me wrong, he is a salesmen to the core, if your intent is to buy something off the wall, ask no questions about it, not negotiate on price, and get out of the store, you will have a fantastic time. If you should disagree with or not value the store owners opinion on an issue, you get to meet the other guy, who just makes you want to never shop there again, but you have to, because you already signed your kid up for lessons. To hear him speak to his staff/instructors when he thinks your not around or not paying attention is one of the most uncomfortable feelings you can feel in a store. Some of the instruments have a warranty, but the owner comes as is. Caveat Emptor

I agree with Reynas post. I received similar treatment when searching for a trombone for my son. The owner was condescending and rude. It felt like he did not want our business. I asked to see the instruments he had available for sale. His response was that the instruments were well into the thousands and that he recommended a rental. We asked to see the rentals and said he only had one to choose from. I asked if we could pull the trombone out of the case and he said absolutely not. He said we had to sign the contract before we could handle the instrument. I dont understand how we would be expected to buy an instrument without even touching it. I thanked the man for his time and left. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

I have been renting a flute from Boogie music for my daughter for 3 years now. DONT believe the 100% return on all rental fees towards purchase of a new instrument! There are loopholes for them. Not 100% of the fee you pay a month is the rental fee, roughly 2/3 is. They also only will give you this credit if you are purchasing a higher end instrument. I will have to rent a flute from them for 8 years to pay for the 1000 dollar flute they will give me the credit on. They have a much cheaper flute on their websight, but say it is not American made and that one will not count towards the credit. While they do have repair facilities and will fix anything broken, they have not done any maintenance or cleaning on this flute in 3 years and when asked if they would, I was told bring it in and they will check it out, but no maintenance is needed. This flute has been fine for her in grade school, but I will need to pay for it almost all the way through high school to get the trade in they will do. Just be careful make sure your child wants to play an instrument forever before getting into the contract if you want to be able to get any trade in credit.

I am SOO glad I went to Boogie Music! With my very first interaction, they earned my business for life. This year is my daughters first year in band. They day she found out the instrument options, she came home and told me that she wanted to play the sax. When I pressed about any others, she was adamant. Saxophone. Period. Her school held an instrument rental night with a local instrument store. The gentleman told me the sax rental would be $40/mo & on top of that would be about 4 bucks in taxes and 8 dollars for insurance. I nearly choked. Im a single Mom and renting an instrument at all is a HUGE dent to my budget - let alone $52.00 a month! When I asked about the Clarinet, he told me it would be about 30 (tax & insurance included) but when I looked at my daughter she looked crushed at just the thought. Plus, this being the first time she is really excited and adamant about anything, I didnt want to crush her enthusiasm. So we stepped outside to call around.Boogie Music was my third call after finding everyone else the same price or higher. A very friendly woman answered and told me their price was 35-40 out the door, but they only had 1 or 2 left, closed at 7pm & it was 6:15. We rushed over, arriving at 6:45p to find the store packed. There must have been 9 families in there with just 3 people scrambling to help everyone before they closed. As I waited, I immediately observed how calm and friendly the staff were to every person there, adult and child alike, even though they were extremely busy. After a reasonable wait, the owner greeted us & when I told him what instrument we needed he remorsefully told me they only had the 39.95 Alto Sax left. That being the total including tax & insurance, I gladly agreed to the Sax in the higher price range. He gave me the application and politely and quickly told me how to complete it before dashing off to help another customer. A few moments after I completed the application, a woman came to help me finish up. She went over the cost, terms & length of contract. Showed us the instrument then processed the payment. Once all the business was concluded, I asked her if she would mind briefly going over with me & my daughter how best to handle & care for the instrument. I explained that while the teacher will likely do so, I wanted her to go over it with us together so were all on the same page to ensure the Sax is cared for and handled properly at home. I expected her to be irritated because the store had cleared out except for one other family and they had even locked the door. But - she didnt bat an eye or heave a sigh. She happily gave us a quick tutorial, answered our questions & even gave me tips on things I may want to consider getting at a later date. As we headed out, she thanked us for our patience and apologized for our having to wait so long. I glanced at the time on my phone and to my surprise it was only 7:10.The way the staff treated us even at the end of their long and obviously busy day was spectacular. With all the people that were in there, to get us taken care of in less than 30 minutes was magical. And I didnt at any point feel rushed, unimportant or an inconvenience. Our experience was quite the opposite - we felt welcomed, appreciated and well cared for. And to top it all off there was no attitude, frustrated looks or crabby faces. All the staff were smiling. To say I was impressed is an understatement! Thanks Boogie Music for being so fabulous to this nervous first time band mom. I will recommend you at every opportunity because Im eternally grateful and relieved that we found you!

I just want to give smaller independent shops my business but selection is rather limited here. When I inquired about an item, they actually looked it up on the Sam Ash website and advised they can order it but 1) Id have to wait until they do their next order, 2) it would cost more than at Sam Ash, Guitar Center, and Amazon and 3) Id have to pay for shipping. Seriously, if thats the way you can give me something you dont have youve just GOT to know thats a crappy deal for me. Just tell me to buy it elsewhere and that you hope you can help me with something else. They cant seriously expect me to find that even remotely okay can they?

I purchased a lightly used Maton TE808 Acoustic guitar from Boogie Music at a very fair price.Frank, the salesman was very helpful and friendly.I also talked a lot and dealt with the owner, Cliff. I saw a lot of other Google reviews on here giving Cliff some harsh criticism. I found Cliff to be straight to the point, honest, and firm. I guess by being that way, he is not some peoples cup of tea. However, I respect how hard it is to run a brick and mortar music shop these days with all the online competition. Cliff doesnt beat around the bush. He tells it like it is, is very direct, fair, and firm. I can dig that.I also dealt with Brent, the repair tech. Really nice guy and very helpful.I had an issue with the pickup on the acoustic guitar I purchased, and after talking with cliff, I brought it back to get looked at. Cliff made it clear that the labor would be covered, but if parts needed to be replaced, thats my responsibility. I agreed as that is fair.It took Brent all of 5-10 mins fixing the simple issue: a simple screw was loose, creating a break in connectivity.5 Stars for Boogie Music all around!!! I still love the guitar and am glad I stopped in!!!

I have been working with Boogie Music/Drum Alley for 6 years now. They have tremendous support for musicians and educators in the Valley who have reasonable expectations of prices and services. They have in many cases gone out of their way to help me get the job done for my program. They will special order anything you ask for. Their rental instruments are in good repair and tend to be better then I can afford to provide students when compared to school instruments. Their luthier (string repair technician) completely rebuilt one of my orchestra basses to better than its previous playing condition. I highly recommend this shop for anyone.

I am appalled by the awful customer service provided by the very owner of this establishment. I felt discriminated against and disrespected. Though I entered with a cheerful attitude and a desire to rent an instrument, the owner was rude, condescending, and did not seem interested in doing business with us. As an educated woman and a musician of many years, I could not fathom why an owner of a small business, who understands the significance of connecting with the community, would engage with customers in this fashion. We remained calm and intended to proceed with the transaction. Unfortunately, the owner continued to present obstacles, leading us to finally leave empty handed. Thus, I do not recommend this music store to anyone in the area.

Was treated very rudely by the owner. Went there to try to sell them a guitar and he looked at my guitar and very rudely in my opinion said he wasnt interested at all then I continue to look around the store for a little bit with some friends. I saw a stand up bass which I wanted to play in the Jazz way there was no sign or anything mentioning that this was not theirs and that this was someones that was there for repair. I started to play on it after moving it from where it was and the owner came back and said something to the effect of thats not ours man thats here for repair or something else similar. He did not at all say excuse me but thats not our instrument can you please put it back in like a nice calm manner he said it in a way that I took very rudely and that youve been my friends which was 3 agreed was very rude. On top of that I feel like although the store is kind of cool because it does have some older vintage instruments from the early 20th century I just personally think that I Wont Go Back unless that is my only option. The only reason I go to Boogie Music is for the absolutely wonderful work the Luthier, Brent does on my guitars at a very reasonable price. He gets 5 stars!!! Also the instructors are very good, at least I can say that for the guitar instructors. Now the reason for the rating. They have poor selection and fairly high prices. As far as guitars go, they only stock Taylor guitars (which are very good). Go try them there and find a better price on line. They do have some electrics, but mostly used or consignment. Now, the number one reason for the poor review is the owner. I give him a rating of ONE! To say this man is unpleasant, is being generous. He doesnt want to answer or makes you wait for the simplest of question. He cant handle more the one thing at a time. He will not let you see or talk to the other staff in the shop. Just today I picked up a couple of guitars I had work done on. The luthier was out. I said OK and paid for the work and took my guitars. I got home check them over and all was perfect. I wanted to call the shop and thank Brent personally for the fine work. The owner answered the phone and I asked to speak to Brent. He said, hes to busy and we are taking all calls for him. Didnt ask if I could leave a number and have him call me back. No pleasantries of any kind and would not let me speak with him, period! No other options where given to me. I have been going there because of the luthier for over two years now. I stopped going for months because I didnt want to run into to the owner. So my suggestion is, if you want great work done on your guitar and can avoid the owner, go. Otherwise find somewhere else. All the other staff is quite pleasant. Unfortunately I will have to find another place to go. Im not willing to deal with that kind of altitude and service from this person.
