Instructors and staff were extremely helpful, it was a fun experience going to this school. Brian, Darrell, Jesus, and Mike were the best. Thank you Jesus for helping me with parallel parking. Mike, thanks for the offset tips, and thank you to Darrell for staying so calm during all the times I stalled out on the road, I know i wasnt...Highly recommend this school if you dont want an E restriction on your CDL, they only train with manual transmissions. Thanks again guys!

I had a fun time. The idea is to get you to cram as much in as possible. Just kidding there a great school everyone there is great help. And they want you to pass the instructors Randy and Richard are the best guys to work with even Sarge tough as nails and will challenge you for greatness not perfection. The one thing I would like to see stated better is after your one week in class it may be up to 5 weeks on the range. So its not just in as little as 4 weeks.

A good school to learn the basics of being a truck driver. The teachers will go above and beyond for you if you are willing to listen and learn. Be patient at this school because you will need a lot more patience once you are out with a company and on the road. Doing this review while broke down on the side of the road in Pennsylvania. Place was great ! Low on staff for the range but you review and study your pre trips as much as you can ! For test ! But also for future you get familiar with your equipment. Some people take more time to learn the drive skills some don’t . That’s the way it is . If you struggle put more focus . All in all good place Tim was a good on road teacher . Firm and making sure you’re doing what you had to do . Was my second time driving a 9 speed and jsut listened to what he said and got it that day . Rich was a good range instructor patient and let you learn the move and would step on when needed . All in all good place . If you looking for place to get CDL go here . Worth every penny . I’ve had my CDL 3 weeks and already added an extra 20,000 to my yearly income by going with an opportunity. Jsut cause you get CDL doesn’t mean you drive semi trucks all the time . I’m in the underground construction work I’m gonna be a hauling a tanker truck with a directional drill and heavy equipment. I’m home every night . Thanks PTDI for the good experience and knowledge.

First of all for you guys who want to sign in into this school I’m going to warned you that they are not operates a lot of truck and don’t have enough teacher. A whole day from 5.30 am to 2 pm I only got 2 or 3 times chance to be in the truck to do maneuver and it’s less than 5 minutes each time . With +10 student in same truck and same teacher it’s impossible to learn that way. This the reason why I drop out from here and still trying to get some amount of my money back because I didn’t meet the certain hours for their refund policies . And it’s really hard to talk with anyone in the phone aka “LINDA” whoever she is always busy and never answer my call . I will update as soon I will hear back from them

Phoenix truck driving institute was a great school. I choose the school do in big part to the amount of care and understanding that I felt from the individuals that run the school. I had lots of doubts but I was able to do it. They are very understanding when it comes to a school schedule and one can tell that the students aren’t just a price tag sort or say. One thing I believe that would help the school is that all the trainers on the range should be somewhat on the same page as far as teaching techniques because one teaches one way and then a student might work with another and be taught WAY differently. I can say this though, all instructors there are great and students can learn much but just need to brush up on being on the same page as far as the instructors go. But overall great school and it’s best to not have a restricted CDL. Keep up the great work y’all.

I recently just graduated yesterday and obtained my CDL from this school. I was out of work due to Covid-19 so i decided to get my CDL and after much research i landed at this school. From the get go when i first went in to get some information, Kristi talked me through everything and answered all my questions. The grant process is very long but she helped me the whole way by answering any questions i had. I finally started school August 4th 2020 and my classroom instructor was Matt and he was awesome and very knowledgeable. After the first week was over we got our permits and hit the range the following week. The instructors are all really good and know what their doing. Are they tough? Yes they are, but in a good way because they want to make sure you’re trained properly and are being safe. All in all i had a great experience here at this school and highly recommend this place for anyone looking to get their CDL. Ms. Dempsey is super awesome and helped me secure a job before i was even done with school. She’s really good at her job and will 100% have you lined up with a company before you finish school. I went to the school on my way back from work one day back in June 2020. I didnt intend on signing up for the class at first. I was unsure if it was the right choice. After all the biggest thing I had ever drove was a moving truck. Could I really do this. And the money to go. If it didnt work out I would be out all that money and nothing to show for it. I thought about it over the weekend and decided why not. Unfortunately my work schedule made it hard to attend one set schedule but the school worked with me and adjusted my schedule as needed. It took me longer to complete due to this but the school was very understanding. I finally passed my cdl test in November and was officially a CDL holder. I went to work for swift transportation in December and completed my hours of training with my mentor with swift. I have been out on my own since the end of December and have been all over the United States. From west coast to east coast. Im loving it. Best decision I ever made going to Phoenix truck driving institute. Instructors are great. Just listen to what they tell you to do and absorb it. Im hard headed and if I can get it and do it anyone can. Thank you so much to the staff, instructors, office personal, and of course Dempsey in student placement.Jesse Ramirez

I just got my CDL from this school this morning. Overall I had a very good experience. I could have complained that they didn’t have enough instructors, I only had two times to practice parking maneuvers in ten hours or the trucks were old. But all of those things challenged me to make the most out of every moment I had to practice my maneuvers and yeah there may have only been two instructors but those guys are truly invested in helping you obtain your CDL. Attitude is everything. Also very rarely are they going to let you leave the school with out some kind of direction or employment opportunities. Very thankful for all the staff for being with me every step of the way and encouraging me to strive for perfection.

Pros: Theyre very accommodating for scheduling. Youll learn how do drive a manual and have an unrestricted CDL. Youll learn straight back, offset and parallel parking maneuvers.Cons: Its hard to get accurate information from instructors. Some yell (Literally screaming) at students for no reason, and the students resent them for it. Its very unorganized and massive amounts of time are wasted doing nothing. They dont teach you 45 degree or 90 degree backing at all. They dont teach you how to be a good driver. They barely teach you enough to pass the CDL test. The trucks are junk and broke down a few times while I was there. They tell you that youll see multiple recruiters, but they dont tell you theyre all from Swift. They really push you to go drive for Swift. It was enough to make me choose a different company. These problems may exist at every school, so Im not saying dont go. Im simply saying BE PREPARED.My advice: Take the initiative to do things on your own. Learn from other students. Study, volunteer to couple and uncouple to get extra wheel time. Request a test date when YOU are ready. Dont wait for them to schedule. My advice to the school: Get some better equipment. Youre putting the public in danger by sending students out in broken trucks. Expand the range to have room for 45s and 90s. Build shade screens for the students. Get organized. With roll call at 5:30am, theres no reason maneuvers cant start by 6:00-6:30. Hire someone to come in at night to clean up and maintain the trucks and blow the tire dust off the range. Hire more instructors and enforce your no cell phone policy ON THEM! Stop Sarge from making people wash cones. Students dont pay $4000 to wash cones.

Be postive people everyone walks out of here with a CDL in hand study study and study and youll be good. Go over and over pretrip. Pretrip is important. They also teach to drive a manual and get an unrestricted CDL which is good although most companies áre automátic now i still recommend having it unrestricted for future employment you never know when youll need it. All instructors were great at teaching DJ, Joseph,Sargeant, Matt and Craig i also met some cool people along the way. Its funny how sargeant yells when doing a manuever wrong. But I gotta say between their instructors - Matt, Craig, JC, Sarge, and Madison - i eventually realized I made a good choice. They all teach a little different (especially Matt, but i like the way he taught to drive) and you can come away with a little something from each of them to help you get started on the path to a career. Dont expect to leave driving like a pro by the time you finish. Its a gateway to get there. But as I write I just passed my test. So they surprised me and it was actually worth it.

First off let me say I got my CDL from this school. Jason, Steve, Robert baker, Lorraine, Rose, Danny were all excellent! My biggest problem with it is unless you show any type of passion into getting your CDL, it is hard to get help. Robert baker taught me how to double clutch from knowing how to float gears. He is truly an amazing instructor and the school is loosing a BIG asset. Jason is very helpful with scheduling and if you have any problems just ask. Steve his a great guy with good information! Danny excellent examiner. The two ladies in the office are very professional and extremely friendly. There is a problem though to get into a truck you do have to wait. And when I say wait I mean almost an hour to an hour and a half. There would be days that I sat in a truck for 3-4 hours without driving or practicing, there are to many people on the range. Max should be 15 at a time that way 4 on the road and 11 on the range. Instructors on the range need to pay attention more instead of letting students that don’t know anything about backing up left alone. Several times we were on the horns trying to stop other students from crashing into us or jack knifing the truck when we are not even on the gas. Fortunately I had experience with trailers and didn’t need to be watched just not big rigs. If anyone wants to save 600 download CDL prep on your phone and do that instead of the class. What a boring 32 hours you sit in front of a iPad and just listen to a mono tone lady talk. Barely any interaction in the class. And if you have a question you are shot down like you’re dumb. Night course anyways.

Overall it was an ok experience. I had to put a lot of effort on my part to get through the school. It is not as easy as you think, unless you have a 5th wheel driving experience and/or standard transmission driving experience. If you have both, this will be a breeze. The instructors were great for the most part. Nothing is perfect, and theres always room for improvement. My only gripe is that I was informed of my States skills exam the same day I took it, despite being told previously that Ill have a 48 hrs heads up notice. Unprepared physically and mentally, do I need to say I didnt pass the first time? However, they were very accommodating and I had my 2nd try 72 hrs later and I passed. Considering what I have heard from others about their schools experiences, this one fairs much better. Just put up and persevere and LISTEN to the instructors AND WATCH the mistakes of other students, ATTENTIVELY and WITH FOCUS and youll make it. Good job overall PTDI !! Warning! This business is very sketchy, their refund policy is sketchy, the instructors are sketchy! If you do not learn in a convenient amount of time there is a chance you will be booted from the school without a refund! There is a lot of bullying in this school! Women and people with disabilities are treated with less respect than the people that are buddy buddy with the instructors. You will have less time in the trucks if you are someone that is disliked and that is not ok. They do not treat people equally at this school! The instructors are absolutely awful. Most of them have little to no experience driving trucks and they are busy smoking and chatting and put no effort into actually teaching the students how to drive.Read my review in its entirety if you are in disbelief. The lead sales manager, Tom, gets commisions based on how many people sign up for training. He was extremely dishonest to me about how training and testing works, among speaking to the actual instructors almost none of what he said was true. You test a fixed number of times and if you fail more more than 5 times, you will not be allowed to return to the school! They will not refund your money. I have spoken with at least 4 other individuals who were kicked out of the school because they did not pass the test in time.If you do decide to spend $7000 you will find that the instructors will be extremely rude, on their phones most of the time or smoking while you drive a 50,000lb semi truck by yourself. If you are a slow learner they treat you like you are an inconvenience. They will yell, scream and curse at you, and if you ask them to stop you are going to have a bad time. The instructors are on a power trip trip and are absolutely awful and unprofessional. They are also very sexist. Female students are allowed to drive the trucks as much as they want while the male students sit around for hours. The trucks you train on have over 1 million miles on them and barely run.Overall I will not be returning to Phoenix Truck Driving institute. I will go elsewhere where I am treated with respect and I can learn at my own pace. I will go somewhere where I can actually TRAIN instead of sitting around while the instructors smoke cigarettes. Please please please! First I want to say thank you so much to Robert and Chris for absolutely amazing instructors . I take a bit of time to write down this review because it is important for people to understand a bad review, (false) or appropriate to this school and the reason why I am given 5 stars !!! School meaning is a real school so the first thing you have to do is to study there is no simple or easy way to do than study!!! i spent almost 4 weeks in this school and i see a lot of people do not listen to their instructor, not listen to their commands this is very annoying !!! I read almost all the reviews ???? and to me not make any sense and i will explain why. Some people say they spend only 5 min on maneuver a couple a time a day and nothing else, this why i want to clarify this.if you only spend 5 min on maneuvers after that you have a couple of option: go and study and study and study your pre-trip very important for you to pass the first time, not only to pass the test but important for you in real life since you have to check every day. If you think you know everything, do it again, dont think that you know everything because you don t, look to other people how they do a maneuver to make sure that you do better or not make the same mistake listen to your instructor and make sure follow the direction they give you. everything it will be easier for you and instructors . Remember whit this school you can drive automatic and manual transmission means no restriction on your license for less money. Manager SUPER POLITE, front desk amazing and fun people, classroom teacher explain absolutely everything and super nice, night shift i have no words, Robert and Chris the best of the best. Very important thing DO NOT TOUCH ROBER CAFFE!!! love you guys and see you soon .

Not a bad place, its a school for CDL, so imagine just being around trucks all day learning to drive.....the only downsides are the fact you can have about 20 people per class, and only 3 or 4 trucks running at a time, so you may wait 30 to 60 minutes for your chance to hop in the seat and do 1 run on the practice field, and hopefully you dont have a oxygen thief brick in your class that cant comprehend backing up straight or parallel parking because the that 60 minutes becomes almost 2 hours....I went there over a year ago and finished pretty quickly, and they do make sure you know your stuff before you leave, and honestly the driving part is easy, the hardest part is memorizing all the info for the pre-trip inspections......If I could make 1 or 2 recommendations, it would be to expand the training area and the vehicle fleet, and maybe see about getting a bus in there....having a bus option would increase income for the school as there is only 1 training site in Phoenix with a bus option....(p endorsement not s)All the instructors were great, and they knew their stuff, but being a huge class number to the 3 trainers on the field, it falls to the more senior students to teach the junior learners...which I was ok with, because it helps build character and leadership traits, but I can see how as a new incoming student you can be taken aback by it and wanting to know why you are paying money for a student to teach you.....Also, all the morons on here complaining about gang activity are either uppity church people trolling google, or so completely out of touch with reality they have no idea what they are talking about....the school is located in an industrial area surrounded by 20 or 30 semi truck schools and businesses, the last time I saw a gang member or gang activity in that area was in the 90s, its a nice area, and perfect for learning to drive a truck......

I recently graduated from this school and have the tanker, doubles and triples, and hazmat endorsements. The training was great. Matt was my classroom instructor and he was very knowledgeable. My range instructors were Maddison, Paul, and JC. They were incredible instructors. From learning your pre-trip to test day, the instructors make sure you are prepared. If you are shaky on certain maneuvers, you practice them before you progress. The office staff was great as well. Very friendly and easy to work with. Every instructor has different life experiences with different companies so pick their brains to help you decide on what route to take. They will share their experiences with you to help you make an informed decision. Overall I had a great experience and I definitely recommend the school to anyone in the Phoenix Valley looking to get their commercial driver’s license. Oh, if you didn’t already know, in order to get your CDL, you will have to pass a drug test. I thought that was common sense but people still get sent home on day one for failing. Even after being told during the tour and sign up that you’ll be tested.

I am a recent graduate as of 2/2020. My experience at PDTI was the best. Instructors have an average of 20+ years trucking. Instructions and Communication was great. Schedule was very flexible. I recommend anyone interested in pursuing a CDL to attend PDTI, it doesn’t get any better than this. Thanks to everyone at PDTI, from front desk ladies, to Dempsey, Tom, Jason, Steve, Donald, Paul, Mr G, Danny, Mia, Matt, Ron, Rob, JC, Chris. Each and everyone of you were amazing!!!

I had the great pleasure of attending Phoenix Truck Driving School at the Phoenix location off 51st Ave and I was absolutely pleased with it.I called around to Southwest Truck Driving School, CDL truck School Inc., Road Masters, and a few others. During my call I wrote down the individual’s name I spoke to, contact information, and a recap of what we talked about (including price).I then came to Phoenix Truck Driving school, I went to google their reviews first (just like I did with the other schools I reviewed) and as I looked at their reviews, I found my self concerned with some of the substandard reviews that were posted, but what was more concerning was that those same substandard reviews were from the names of the individuals that I spoke to at the other schools. I was so disgusted that other schools would go to the length to destroy a school’s name by making up stories about them. At this point, I read Phoenix Truck Driving school’s response and it was short and to the point. I really liked how they kept it professional.Upon entry I met with Tom West, which I found to be straight to the point no bulls*** type of guy. I immediately developed respect for him. Everything Tom said and promised came through for me, which was surprising for me because most individuals that are in a position like Toms will say and do anything to get your money and generally do not care about your interest, which was not the case with Tom.The instructors at this facility generally do care about each student and it greatly shows! I got to know some really good individuals/instructors and I really appreciate JC, Paul, Donald, Danny, Mia, and Steve. Jason is one of the GM’s at the facility as well and I do have to say thank to him because he made sure they made my deadline that I was aiming for. Then when I begin to near my completion of this school, I had the career services to help me find a driving position that fit my needs and Dempsey was very helpful. Loraine which was my go to person for administration issues was amazing and she always made time for me.When it comes down to choosing the best school for you and your family, I would strongly recommend giving Phoenix Truck Driving School (Institute) a chance. Also keep in mind you will always be more valuable with a CDL Manual Transmission with no restrictions over an automatic transmission. A lot of schools in Phoenix don’t offer Manual Transmission because they either don’t want to pay for the up keep or don’t care about the student’s best interest...Keep in mind though if you fight and don’t listen to the instructors your learning will not go very fast. If you follow their direction and ask questions you will get this down and you will be grateful that you went with Phoenix Truck Driving School.

At first it was very intimidating to be very honest with everyone after the third day I was ready to throw in the towel but with instructor Daves positive reinforcement and with Joe and Lindas teachings I passed my CDL driving portion and am know on my way to driving I read some other post here about these people not being the real deal and believe me that is far from the truth they dont promise to turn you into a professional they promise to teach you to pass the test and be a safe driver the rest is on you. Thanks Phoenix truck driving institute 😁

I went to CDL Truck School Inc which felt like they only wanted me for my money after nearly $700 in I decided check out Phoenix truck driving institute. I could not be happier the instructors actually care about you not like the other school which label you as just a number. I received training in what I needed help on an sure enough I passed. I got to experience both schools but they are completely different in staff and experience you can tell the difference. I would highly recommend this school to anyone family orientated environment you cant go wrong with that.

Great school great price! You will get your cdl here. The key to success is to apply your self every single day. Please listen to the instructors carefully (they have years of experience). Stamps, Tom, Jay and Matt are great instructors!....just have confidence in your self and you will do fine. The pre inspection, air brake and in cab test will be rammed into your head every single morning...by the time your ready to test out you will be sick of it. I was overwhelmed on day one but by the third day I had it down. The school has plenty of trucks so everyone will be able to practice. The school will even find you work and have you set right away. I called a few other schools and they all wanted some crazy amount of money. I give this school 5 stars ALL DAY.

My mother and I both attended this phoenix truck driving school together. Our manager Randy was an absolutely amazing manager. He made our experience at this school a great one. He did everything in his power to make sure that our experience was positive while learning at his school. Because of men like Randy and Tom working here, i give this phoenix trucking institute a high rating because i know that Randy and Tom truely care about each and everyone of their students and want all of their students to succeed and reach thier full potential as truck drivers. My mother and i were very greatful to have such support and dedication from Randy and Tom through out our experience at the school. We were honored to work with such great men and attend this school whos leaders truely care about the well being of their students and put the needs of their students first by providing them with help and support. I know that if you attend this school you will be in good hands with these men. It is nice to have good people looking out for you who care about you and each and every one of their students.

They guarantee job placement for life. which is them saying hey come work for DSW we will hire you to take swift loads. They do not help with any job placement other than that. Their school teaches the absolute minimum it can about backing and real world trucking. all and all I have had a terrible experience with them, dont recommend them to anyone. dont waste your money.
