SCI is a great Institute to attend if you want to get a new career. The financial aid people are very helpful, the school advisers are very supportive, caring and understanding. And the instructors are very attentive in the sense that they take their time to educate you not only in the course that you are taking but also educate on things that are going on around you, they encourage all students to succeed in everything that you do. I was very blessed with all the instructors, my advisor, my financial aid consultant and with Career services.

I attended this school back in 2015, I should of picked up on all the Red Flags while I was there. Since then (6years later) I havent found a full time job with this so called certification and Im in debt with student loans. Ive applied every year to banking, book keeping, seasonal income tax positions, etc . Only to be unfortunately rejected by every single company and opportunity. Ive find myself working part time position at retail, and small proprietor companys for very low pay and few hrs .This is a for profit school with useless certification that are now being warned against in the U.S News by Our Government.I understand theres some of you like me that want a better future, a small opportunity for yourself and your family, but this is not the place to do it. Find a real collage, a real passion. Dont get caught up in the overly friendly greetings and the pressure to sign on with them. The endless calls that they really care about your success. It all ends once they get you to sign and you stay over your 3 months and you owe the loan now.FYI, I did finish the program, top of my class and now theres nothing.

My course was great, staff very friendly and knowledgeable. All my instructors were awesome. Dedicated their time to help out students. The CSS course was challenging, and tested my abilities. I appreciated the fact that all staff were very helpful especially my instructors, who were there to help and keep pushing me to achieve my goals. Overall I had a wonderful experience with SCI.

Well, they never explained that I was going to have a loan, now I have to pay money that wasntaware I owed. And when I finished my course (Pharmacy technician) they required for me to do 168 externship hours. Externship means, working for free by the way. Which I completed, and I had such a hard time with them because they kept telling me I owed them 5 more hours, which was false. You see they use an app to calculate the hours, not their brain or common sense. So I told them they were wrong, at the end they went back and recounted my free work and were able to do the simple math and got it right. Seriously they made so mad.On another note, I do not recommend anyone to attend this type of school, they give you way too much work and you must finish it in such a little time. The modules are only three weeks, not enough time to learn all much material that they assigned. VERY EXPENSIVE AND NOT WORTH IT.

Not only did I get a job and career I love and still have for a good while, all staff at Southern Carreers Institute are caring, compassionate and have great didactic skills- this all combined changed my life for the better! Love it!!!!

In February I check a response to a question on the internet about getting information about returning to school to further my education in a career field. Within a day I received a call from a recruiter at Southern Careers Institute asking what I wanted to study, I said I would like to learn more about computers because I needed to get better knowledge to get a good paying job. My brother has been working in a computer job for 25 years and I could see how he had advanced. So I registered to start my study in computer support specialist at Southern Careers Institute in Pharr Texas knowing how important it would be for me to get more knowledge about computers to get a better job that would help me give my family a better life! Thank be to God I finished my classes on October 18th and through my networking with my brother a job came available and by Gods grace I was hired and will start at a excellent pay. I thank Southern Careers Institute for their instructors who help me through my studies at Southern Careers Institute even though it was a online class I was able to get the knowledge I needed to get the job! If you are looking to further your education Southern Careers Institute is my recommendation!

When I declined to proceed my education with them, Frances Munoz (the recruiter), told me I wouldn’t achieve anything in life. Not only was she aggressively trying to change my mind with insults, but she had no remorse about my family situation. There so many trade schools, this is probably the worst. I wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone. They only care about money and that was clear when I spoke to both Frances and the director Jason Chapman. I’m glad I didn’t continue with them. Best decision I’ve ever made.

Loved the school everyone was so helpful when trying to get enrolled. I had a wonder advisor Michelle who help me out and checking on me whenever I had an issue and keeping me on track so I could graduate. The teachers are so helpful. I went at night and had the awesome teachers they help me out treated me more like family. I recommend to go and they wont treat you like a stranger.

I graduated from SCI in 2010 with a Certificate in Computerized Business Accounting, with a 99.9 Average and Valedictorian of the class, thanks to my supportive family, caring friends and excellent instructors. Its been one of the best choices Ive made in my life. I visited a few campuses and finally decided to attend SCI because they made me feel the most welcomed and interested in helping me achieve my goals in education and truly kept their word.Yes, it does cost money, but very well worth it.I am very grateful to the staff and great instructors, such as, Mrs. Rodriguez, who would not accept anything but a 100, which helped us, to not ever lower our standards, also Mr. Garza, funny, informative and very interesting, always there to lend a helping hand, and especially Ms. Josie Anzaldua (aka..Miss A). Miss A is not one to give up on anyone and is so dedicated in assisting everyone, in a way she can, for the students to achieve their goal in completing the program and move on to a better life. Last but not least, although no longer the Director there, Mr. Mullen...he always said, this is something no one can ever take away from you, you can pack it in your suitcase and take it wherever you wish. Truth. God bless them all.I recommend SCI to anyone wanting and willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish a goal in education. It was a great start for me. I was employed as an instructor there and also at the Corpus Christi campus. Let me honest now that I am no longer employed there. SCI is by far the best vocational school in the state of Texas. They are very focused on technology and the student will ALWAYS come first. If your on the edge of a decision take the plunge! As long as you as a student make the effort, I promise you will be successful.

I want to thank SCI for providing me the skills I need to further pursue my career and to strive for a better future. Staff, classmates, and the welding program in general was greatly enjoyable. I completed my Billing and Coding Certificate at SCI Pharr Campus and it was a great experience from beginning till the end. The night instructors did an excellent job keeping us engaged and motivated throughout the whole program. Mr. Wilson was one the best motivators; Ms Garza, who no longer teaches there, was a very knowledgeable Coding instructor; Mr Rose was also very knowledgeable in many areas and subjects; and Ms. Anzaldua was another great motivational and knowledgeable instructor. She pushed us till the end with her sincerest love that she gives to all her students. Keep up the good work SCI!

Thanks to all the support from teachers and staff I graduated as a pharmacy tech. Im now working at hospital and at a pharmacy in North Carolina. I attended this school back in 1998-1999. This school is a scam. I was targeted because I was a high school dropout. They said I had a college level education (I was very naive) and they took advantage. I signed up for the Computer Science program. They made empty promises and had me sign over my student loan checks. I did not complete the program and the people that I know of that did finish were not happy with the results either. I wish that I would of not ever signed over those student loan checks to SCI. I cannot further my education now that I have a high school diploma because I have been deferring the student loans from SCI. This school is a waste of time. I called them and they said I can come back and finish the program, what if I dont to? The money should be given back to me for something I did not get from them, the education they promised. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL ITS A WASTE OF MONEY AND THERE IS NO EDUCATION that you can use to further your advancement in life... my next step is to file a complaint with Consumer Education and Federal Trade Commission to investigate deceptive practices at the school, I would encourage anyone else who has been duped by this school to do the same. Bringing attention to this matter by filing complaints will be the only way to shut down this joke of a school

I attended this school back in 1998 for Administrative Assistant and I never received my Certificate (and never even worked as an Administrative Assistant), I just got into serious Financial Aid debt going to SCI & it messed up my ability to go back to real college. I look to see what programs they have now and I wish they had the CDL A program back in 1998 cause I would have rather taken that program......Thanks for nothing SCI, the only thing I accomplished here was getting into debt and I never even received my Certificate

I completely agree with Karen Martinez 100%. Everything she said is really true. I went with my sister to apply and my uncle had found another school that was way cheaper after we signed most of the papers (He barely came to visit us!). Well, when we visited the school with my dad and uncle to withdraw from SCI, the adviser had us waiting 20 minutes on purpose because my dad was going to charge his phone in his car, and as soon as he left, the adviser told my sister and I, I am completely disappointed in you girls. Like, really? After that, my mom told him off saying thats a form of bullying which is true because he tried to make my sister and I feel bad. 4 people that my uncle personally know told him that they got certificates from this school, and right now they dont have any jobs! One of them happens to work at a movie theater. Seriously?! My sister and I even told the adviser that we come from a low-income family, but they dont seem to care. I dont recommend anyone coming here because, as Karen stated, they only care about money. My poor dad has to pay not one, but two people to get in the school.

I went to this school to become a medical biller and coder in May of 2015 and graduated Feb of 2016. I would like to state that this school was a great help to me. Most people that are complaining about not finding a job are usually the ones not really looking. They will send you to interviews but you yourself have to obtain the job on your own. I was set up in a great Dr.s office and after completing my training hours I was hired and three months later I am now the Supervisor for the Billing and Coding Department. Dont expect the job to come to you, YOU need to go out there and get it!!! Thank you SCI!!!

Completed the Medical Assistant program in the time span given, trained appropriately and quickly. I was offered a job before I was done with externship, I left SCI with a full time job at a cosmetic clinic. Staff is friendly, teachers are great and take the time to explain if you dont unferstand something.

I love this school i would give it 4 stars they have good teachers that are very good at what they do. and not everyone gets 100 like they say if you work hard you will get 100 but if you slack you will fail the class and will have to retake it. I have taken classes at Kaplan and at STC and this is an intense course it is awesome i love it and recommend it.

I dont recommend this school because until now I am not evening working under my certification. At the end of school they said they would find me a job and no they didnt they wanted me to endlessly find my own job. The reason they say they help us is cuz they teach us on how to make a resume and tell us our possibilities of places where they might hire us....eek I was wrong in choosing southern career.I should of not wasted my time here n just gone to a bigger university.

Okay were do I start,I went into southern careers institute to only ask questions about the school example their careers programs and financial that didnt go well..you cant even go to southern careers institute an ask questions ONLY without them pressuring you to sign with them.They want you to sign papers and pay right away without you first thinking about it.They dont care about helping people because on the end of the day if you sign right away the advisors get paid.When i went to this school they send me with this advisor which first of all she didnt understood that i went to only ask questions and then she kept repeating me and the one who makes the decision is! like basically she was being rude in that kind of tone to my mom who went with me.I know they are people out there who think that signing with these types of schools will make it faster but imagine how many loans your going to have to pay after your done and wondering if they are even going to help you get a job.you have to think first.I would rather go to Pan Am or STC to get a diploma not a certificate and at least try.I would recommend people not to go for the easy way but to at least try to achieve a diploma first. :) I know the road seems hard sometimes but if you really want something you have to try at least.I know there are people who are not going to agreed on my review but I dont really care.

So far this school has earned 2 stars. When they were trying to get me enrolled they would call. when I need help nobody around to answer. I wouldnt recommend anybody to take the computer course. Most courses are going to be online and their system has too many flaws. This IT course is a nightmare with these instructors. Mr salinas called me out with an ugly tone and I said ok. Then, I went to complain and turns out theyre going to try to help me. Then I go back and he calls me again to go to the room to sit me down and ask me why I was late and I have him a reason and he insisted to ask me a gain and I raised my voice and he told me to go home. And he insults students when theyre smart being with him. Mr trevinos only response is Google it for everything and doesnt respond to messages only at the beginning. These instructors dont really care about students and they get away with stuff. Im told they will resolve it. I will keep u updated. I hate to say it but if ur not kissing ass ur not going to be on Mr Salinas good side. Well I spoke to Mrs Fleming she told me its a clash of personalities, I thinks he s hard to deal with. But shes taking his side because hes the only IT instructor. People runaway from this school. These people dont listen to students. I spoke to Mrs Fleming she was more than condescending and contemptuous, totally rehearsed and one-sided. The whole meeting that took place was to praise her instructor for his work. She said, your money doesnt pay for this school, its to get all this information into your brain with despise.

Front desk employees are friendly and greet well.... Supervisors not so much! Fix that. It makes your campus look bad.

I graduated in march from sci. I could be more happier then I am today, they stood behind me and help me find a job thanks SCI if and when I want to continue my schooling I will come back to SCI they make you feel like family.

The teachers care alot about success and assist students in being succussful

I was told that we would have hands on training in the computer course which was something that interested me.From the first day of class we have done nothing but online courses through TestOut and SimNET.There is no hands on training and the little that we do get we have to do on our own by bringing in computers and laptops for ourselves as well as buying our own tools which they also stated was going to be provided for us.The students have to show up to class and physically be there from 6pm-11pm only to do online courses.The simulations provided by these online courses are clumsy and frustrating to deal with.Certain tasks that would be simple if done in reality rather than through a simulation are made more difficult than they should be.The internet in this school is constantly dropping and that is frustrating due to the fact that most of the work is being done online so any progress you have made will be lost and you will need to start over from scratch.If that doesnt happen then the online course will crash on its own and you will be forced to start over.The schedule is also weird for students taking the computer course due to it being Mon-Thur from 6pm-11pm and then Sat from 8am.It would have made more sense to have given us Mon-Fri but apparently that is not something this school thought out.Scheduling is also a nightmare with some students having a messed up schedule at the start and even after being told this they did not correct it until the next block which is 3 weeks after the issue being reported.The faculty will also borderline stalk you if you give them a phone number,email,and they will do the same to any of your friends or family members whose information you provide them with.Something anyone that ignores this review will quickly notice.They also do not listen to the students of which ALL have complained about TestOut,break times,carpet inside the computer classroom,as well as the schedule.This is a school that should not be attended by anyone seeking to actually do something with computers as a career.If you are reading this I beg you to go to STC or any other college!I chose this school because I did not want to take basics but I would have rather paid more and taken said basics than to have wasted my time here.

Took their Computer Support Specialist program the professor knew his stuff but the class wasnt even properly equipped, courses werent good, and worst of all they lied to me when I signed up saying they had everything ready and stuff.

I’d like to thank Neo with admissions and Edna from financial aid for helping me start this journey. Neo assisted me from the very start and made sure I was stress free applying to school. I’m so excited to start my education at SCI-Pharr and starting my welding career.
