Please dont send your children here. 3 homes in my neighborhood all had to pull their children from this school. No supervision. I saw kids throwing rocks at each other while teacher was flirting with a parent with he back to the kids. My child was never challenged in class and had to work at the pace of the other kids. A friend of ours had a kid come home with a black eye and a vague story. Chose another school please, for your childs sake.

I did like Cheyenne Elementary when we moved here and my daughter started first grade, my son started third grade. But, found Mrs. Miller the principle, was very manipulative about my sons special services. Things were placed in the IEP, but were not followed. Supposedly when he was going into the fifth grade they had a teacher picked out for him in May. That changed.... This was the second time my son had gotten a first year teacher with no special services or Autism experience. The principle changed when the school year started and so did the IEP staff again. They appeared to want to work with us. Found out lack of communication on the teachers behalf and my sons new 1 on 1 was an issue. It seems Peoria district does not want there to be communication between the 1 on 1s and the students parents. These are the people who work with our children continuously over the whole school year. The teacher was busy with the other 35 students in the class, apparently so was the 1 on 1. They placed my son in detention for trying to sign my name on his agenda because i usually sign it. He did not understand what the big deal was, I had never forgotten before and didnt see what the huge problem was, it was an agenda, not a report card! This was a risky game to play with his medicine wearing off, on a Friday, after he had already been having anxiety issues during the school year thus far over false accusations about his non willingness to try when new subjects were started and his grades slipped. They thought it had helped, but in reality, his grades slipped, his behavior at home and at school had gotten worse. Then to top it off, on the last full day of school, the teacher coached my son into admitting he had done something wrong, later i found out he did not, and called me to give him a detention that day for it, knowing I was working and could not pick him up. RIDICULOUS! There was no excuse for this, and I would post the email she sent, but I dont think its allowed. I pulled him from the school that day, went to a traditional school, and never looked back. So far he is a straight A student, perfect behavior, and almost no 1 on 1 required. He is taking initiative, and the traditional school only has like 22 kids in the class. My son says he can focus better and it is very quiet, different caliber of students too. He loves his uniform and loves the hands on environment. Changed child from what Cheyenne described as my son being a behavioral issue. When he started Cheyenne, he had a great attitude and also had As and Bs only. Its funny how a few bad decisions about the teacher and the principle can change the entire approach to how the school performs!

I am in 6th grade and it is a very horrible school for 6th grade and above. the ela teacher is indian and you can barely understand her and she teachers wrong grammar. we had a poster to make in 1hr and she told us 10 min before we left that we have to finish it at home. the project was india and Americas rules and we dont go to india so why only 1 hr. I wouldnt recommend it. deffinitly not. one of the people in my grade brought a gun to school. he just got suspened for 1 month not expelled forever. so very dangerous too.

I used to love this school, now I have a change of heart. Some office ladies are very rude and the teachers like to punish kids without finding out the whole story!
