Our son flourished at Palo Alto Montessori. He went there for three years and we are huge fans. Every member of the faculty is terrific. The vision of the school, to my mind, is perfect: nothing is overworked, the happiness and well being, social development, and curiosity of the child remain the focus. The environment is rich in educational structures and curricula, but there is no pressure. As a result, the kids glow and the parent community is interactive. Also, the size is great, not too big, nor too small. There are plenty of children for rich social interactions but little ones just starting are not overwhelmed, and actually are embraced by the bigger kids. Last, the facility is very clean and well maintained with great play structures and energy, including a sandbox around a beautiful tree in the main area and an organic garden project in the outer yard. In all three years at Palo Alto Montessori, I never talked to another pre-school parent about their experience somewhere else without thinking, I am so glad we are at Palo Alto Montessori!

This school is a gem- the environment Dinesh and all of his teachers create is unlike any other school we toured (and we toured MANY Montessori and mixed-approach schools). Its an amazing balance of academics and life skills, and an incredible community of parents and students. You can tell just by looking at the smiles on the kids faces, their engagement with the teachers- our daughter loved coming to school here! Some things to highlight in addition to the attentive academic approach: dance, gymnastics, soccer, incredible outdoor time, police car and fire truck visits, family shows, cooking, singing, show and tell (amongst others). They do an amazing job of balancing learning, play, and life skills incorporating all of the Montessori elements. This school sparked a passion for learning in my child- thank you Palo Alto Montessori School!(Note: A school a few blocks away just renamed and copied this schools name for some reason... Palo Alto Montessori SCHOOL is on Arastradero and has been around for many years!)

The Palo Alto Montessori program has been amazing for my daughter. We were there for almost 3 years. The caring atmosphere and the thoughtful staff provide a perfect place for both academic and personal growth. The children learn about the practical aspects of everyday life, as well as the basics of language and math. Montessori specific exercise well prepare the children for the next steps. The program graduates well rounded children with a healthy spark of curiosity and confidence, as well as behavioral tools to be well-adjusted in any situations. PAMS puts on great holiday parties to help the children celebrate with their parents and peers creating a well-connected community. The location is unique allowing children to spend plenty of time outside in a safe and beautiful environment. The teachers are very supportive not only of the child but also of the transitions that can be difficult for parents such as potty-training. Overall, we couldnt have asked for a better home away from home for our daughter. My daughter was able to successfully transition to kindergarten, and succeed in both personal and academic pursuits. We are very thankful for having had Palo Alto Montessori School in our lives and the lessons learned carry forward not only in my daughter but in all of us.

Both of my children attended Palo Alto Montessori School from ages two through five, until they went to kindergarten. Dinesh and the other teachers and support staff are so wonderful – they really love and care for the kids, and both of my children really flourished at PAMS. There is very low staff turnover, and over the years, the kids bonded with the staff and the other children and the school. My kids loved music and instruments, playing outside, gardening, cooking, the art projects, and the calm, nourishing, and fun atmosphere at the school. There are lots of international students there, which I think was also a great education for our kids. I would recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a great preschool, regardless if they are looking for Montessori education or not. I feel very fortunate that my kids got to spend their early years at PAMS.

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found this school! Our son had been to another pre-school before this one that was coming apart at the seams. Our son has been at this school for almost 2 years now and he loves it (and so do we). The program, teachers, facilities, and care are all top notch.Let’s start with the program. A true Montessori program that encourages children to grow and learn at their own pace and strengthens the interest of each child. Our son, who is very interested in mathematics, has grown tremendously under the tutelage of the director of the school. Not only has the director recognized our son’s passion for mathematics and inspired it, but has also worked with him on the areas our son needed more encouragement in. The director as well the other teachers in the school have helped our son flourish from a shy introvert to a well-rounded outgoing boy. They have helped build his courage and confidence with show and tell and “make a new friend” days. The staff was patient and understanding during potty training and during all the times our son did not nap. There is a sense of care for the environment and not wasting things at the school. The teachers care about inclusion with the community by bringing in policeman and fireman to do demos and talk with the class. There is certainly plenty of play time for the children but there is also an emphasis on academics, hand-eye control, and cleaning up after yourself when done (which has really helped at home as well. The place is always clean and there is a great attention to detail on safety and good health practices there. Overall, I would recommend the school and staff to anyone I know and feel confident their children would get the best of care.Thank you Dinesh and the entire staff!!!

Our younger son spent two happy years at Palo Alto Montessori School, during which he transformed from a reserved, hesitant child into a self-assured and self-directed child. We wish we’d known about this school when our elder son was of preschool age!Palo Alto Montessori School is a small, well-organized school, with an authentic Montessori spirit. Dinesh, the director, and the teachers, have created a calm, family-like environment for kids. The teachers are kind, patient and gentle; and the classrooms and facilities are clean, tidy and child-friendly. There is hardly any teacher turnover (only one teacher left to join her family in the last two years), which is wonderful for the kids.In true Montessori fashion, children are taught to respect each other and their materials. Children are given time to learn, absorb and do things at their own unhurried pace. The older children are systemically taught to write numbers and letters, do addition and subtraction problems and write short words. In addition to academic activities, children learn practical life skills, practice activities such as gardening, cooking (in summer school) and get lots of time to draw and color. There are several fun annual events (potluck parties), for which the children prepare and perform songs and dance, and parents get a chance to get to know each other.Dinesh has astute insight into children and their world, and a deep understanding of what ultimately contributes to their success and well-being as adults. He is also very conscious of the role preschool experience plays in shaping the child. He constantly seeks ways to help each child become a confident, resilent and capable learner. For example, Dinesh understood our son’s nature, which seeks the familiar, and devised effective, progressive challenges to help him grow socially and become more confident in new situations. To reduce cliques and ensure no child is excluded from play, Dinesh introduced a “make a new friend” day where each child was encouraged to play with a new friend. Our son loved this new game!We had regular opportunities to discuss our son’s social and academic development in detail with Dinesh. At these times, we also received valuable insights into our child’s behaviour and excellent advice on fun extra-curricular activities for our child. Dinesh also observed our elder son (not at this school) grow and gave us helpful advice for our elder son and for managing the sibling relationship. We feel extremely fortunate to have found Palo Alto Montessori School and we will miss it dearly!

Our son has been going to Palo Alto Montessori for the last two years and we could not be happier with the school. It is now time for our son to move on to Kindergarten and we know that he brings a fantastic foundation with him from his time at PAM. The school director and head teacher Dinesh and his staff made it very easy for him to adjust to the new school from the beginning, providing a welcoming, caring and inclusive environment. We love the Montessori program and how it is brought to life at PAM by Dinesh and his staff. Our son is more on the quiet and reserved side, but over the last two years he has gained confidence and is comfortable speaking up. We love the fact that the school places a lot of value on social skills, time for play and respect for each other, in addition to learning letters, numbers, etc. Dinesh does a wonderful job keeping us regularly updated about the progress of our son, and during each 1:1 he has been providing extremely valuable insights about our son at school. The school is small and very well run, clean and organized, with great activities throughout the year.We will definitely miss this fantastic school and can wholeheartedly recommend it to other parents! Thank you very much, Dinesh and Palo Alto Montessori School!

I used the Yelp reviews to select Palo Alto Montessori for my daughter who was 4, never been to school and had been raised by a nanny. My friend had also sent her son there and simply raved about it. The reviews were not exaggerations. Dinesh and the other teachers are simply outstanding. My daughter talked about the school, the teachers and her friends constantly and I loved that it was a home away from home. She learned how to have good manners, how to start reading and writing, and how to love learning. The enrichment programs are also amazing. Ms Cynthia for gymnastics is wonderful. The whole package was within our budget and best of all, the school was within walking distance of our house. Sadly, we are moving out of state and will have to leave Mr. Dinesh and his teachers behind. It has however been a wonderful experience. Mr. Dinesh and teachers, you will be sorely missed! I highly and strongly recommend this school.

Words can not begin to express my gratitude towards Palo Alto Montessori School. My husband was injured during U.S.M.C training exercises and we were relocated to Palo Alto for Polytrauma Acute Rehab we were referred to Palo Alto Montessori School for our 4 year old daughter. I met with the Director Mr Dinesh and was instantly impressed by his professionalism and all the school has to offer. Mr Dinesh has a heart of gold he explained he wanted to give back to the Veterans and Servicemen and women who have sacrificed so much for our country and wanted our daughter to attend Tuition FREE for the duration of my husbands recovery. This act of kindness has helped our family tremendously it allows me to take care of my husbands needs during the day knowing our little girl is surrounded by caring, loving and compassionate teachers. She has learned so much while attending Palo Alto Montessori School her speech has drastically improved, She knows the alphabet by heart and has learned so many children songs. She has learned to write her name and has learned so many wonderful manners. We are so very blessed our daughter is able to attend such an extordanary school and be surrounded by true role models!!

We were in the bay area for a short 6 months period and needed childcare for our 2.5yr old toddler. We are so glad to have found Palo Alto Montesorri School! My son looked forward to going to school every day (even on weekends!), which is indicative of the quality of care and attractiveness of the environment, its teachers and the other caregivers. With support from its teachers, particularly Dinesh, my son accomplished 2 major milestones: Potty training and overcoming the milk bottle teat.Dinesh provides insightful feedback which is so important since my son spends the bulk of the day in school. As first time parent, he is also quick to offer helpful parenting tips.Be prepared to go on the waitlist though, since it is so Best. We waited several months but it was well worth it!We unreservedly recommend Palo Alto Montesorri School to all parents!
