We are so happy our daughter decided to attend Rio Mesa, and not Cam. High or NP. It has been a wonderful experience. She is being challenged in her honor/AP classes and is being well prepared for college. The teachers are amazing and caring. Some hold prep classes in the summer. I am sure they arent getting paid extra for their extra effort. Wow! I see other reviews saying the school is violent and has gangs, but this seems to be an old, baseless label that is unsupported per my daughter. The security is super tight. I know because I once tried to bring her lunch via the parking lot, and security was on me in minutes. They were very professional and I wasnt following protocol. The worse student issue was a girl-fight over a boy, which was immediately stopped. Really great staff and the student population is laid-back and friendly. No one cares whos wearing what. A great choice for our scholar-athlete.

Rio Mesa is an exceptional school! I had attended this school in the 90s and had such a great experience, decided to transfer my daughter from our neighborhood school (Camarillo High School) to Rio Mesa. The teachers are still excellent, especially for Advanced classes. Im so impressed with how hands on and passionate these teachers (& coaches) are. Rio Mesa is only one of two local high schools (other than Newbury Park) which offers the IB Diploma. I just love the diversity RM offers as well...children from all cultures and walks of life which is healthy for our childrens generation to experience, and appreciate. If youre considering this school for your child, please investigate beyond the academic scores because it truly is a gem! Our daughter is very shy, but loves sports and academics. We were slightly concerned about social aspects of beginning high school, but shes become such a happy and confident young lady. Im glad we made the decision to send her to Rio Mesa because shes found several friends just like her, who are focused and responsible kids.

Im going to school here and so far a really enjoy my time herethe school has really good teachers and really good clubs and I meet my beautiful girlfriend at rio mesa
