I’ve been here twice and both times I have been satisfied. The staff is very welcoming. Jackie, my hair stylist, did a great job & did exactly what I wanted! She also is very passionate and you can tell. Would definitely recommend and come back again.

I graduated from this school a few months back and the only good thing was one teacher who is now gone.The professionalism and communication with administrative is appalling. They are completely unprofessional, do not tell students what they owe, and are blatantly disrespectful to students. Administration does not explain or go over paperwork but blindly ask students to sign papers without explaining what they’re actually signing. They charge thousands of dollars for the school to barely have AC, bugs in the lights and on the floor and holes in the wall. Plus there is no parking for students besides a sketchy gravel lot across a busy street. If you are thinking of going here, please reconsider.

Im very pleased with the service and knowledge of the teacher and students. My stylist Arianna, did an amazing job on my hair! She also showed me a different way of styling it which I love.

I dont appreciate the unprofessionalism and disrespect given to the students by the owner and the staff. We are talked down to and disregarded until somebody owes money. On top of that the building is absolutely disgusting, there are bugs everywhere inside and out of the building and half the lights dont work.The students are expected to park in an unmarked gravel lot and cross the street with no cross walk. This school is located on a very busy road making this very dangerous.I regret choosing this school to complete my hours for my cosmetology license.

Unfortunately went here with my daughter. Spent over 6 hours getting our hair done. My daughter showed a picture of how she wanted her hair done. They called the picture a baliage although it was not. She walked in a brunette and came out a blonde! It looked like she had a wig on! She was so upset that she didn’t want to go to school the next day! They charged 90 dollars and I had to pay for her to get it professionally fixed 150 dollars. I called several times left messages and spoke with Megan over the phone. She was very condescending no empathy and told me they don’t usually give refunds??? She said she put in a call to the director and is not accepting my calls!!! Very unprofessional. I would NOT recommend getting your hair done here. Even if it is to try and save money because you will end up paying more! I found out the hard way.

BEWARE OF SCHOOL: BAIT & SWITCH SCAM ON STUDENTS.IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT ENROLLING HERE, DONT. They will tell you you’re going to pay one thing and then midway through the program they switch up & tell you, you now owe thousands of dollars. They have done this to multiple students right before graduation.On top of that the school is BEAT down. The shampoo bowls are disgusting. The walls have holes in them. There is roaches.Please save your time & money and go somewhere else.This is all my personal experience from the school from what I have had to endure & have witnessed.

Horrible place to get your hair done. RUN. Don’t even think about going here. YOU’LL REGRET IT. Went here mislead by the reviews. Cost is still expensive for a very unprofessional horrible job, they at least owe me a refund for what they did. I ended up paying much more to have my hair fixed by a true professional. The instructor only spoke to the student at the beginning and did not supervised or watched the progress. My end result was horrible color, hair fallen off during blow drying since she had damaged my hair so much, and worse part was they never showed me the back and I had a bald spot on the back of my hair which going in there I had full hair. DON’T GO HERE!! Never again.

I went in for a lengthy and tedious procedure and was absolutely blown away by the skills of Taylor. The teachers and student discussed thoroughly what I was going for and weighed in on the best approach before beginning. Taylor took her time and put forth 100% effort through the entire process, I have never been happier with my hair.

I love this place! The people are friendly, knowledgeable, and the teacher always is sure to double check their students work *before* anything happens. Everyone has a sense of humor to put you at ease. I highly recommend this place.

I’ve gotten my hair done here a couple of times here by Harley Q. and every time I leave I’m so impressed. I’ve come in requesting bright colored hair and she continues to fascinate me with the amazing results. She is also great communicator and is constantly reassuring me to talk to her if there is anything I’d like to change or to make me feel more comfortable with my visit. However, everyone here in general are great and make me feel welcome every time I come back.

I am so incredibly happy with my hair color!! I went in to them with a challenge and they took it on! Bridgette was my student and the teacher Jen was amazing. I cant stop looking in the mirror. You cant beat the price either. The girls were all great and I will only be going there from now on.

I’m very cautious with my hair and I put a lot of faith into the hairdresser, Harley, at Hair Professional in Oswego. And I’m very please with the outcome. I went from brown hair down past my waist to shoulder length with green high lights. Not only did Harley took her time and put pride into her work, she also was friendly and made sure I was comfortable with each step. I’ve been recommending her and this location ever since. I’m very happy with the outcome.

Alyssa does my hair and she’s amazing! She pays close attention to detail, easy to talk to and very understanding. She’s knowledgeable in what she’s learning and always uses her skills to pull off any look I bring her!

My new favorite place for a facial. Julie M. was professional, knowledgable about the products and her appoach is gentle and soothing. My skin felt hydrated after and literally had a soft glow. It was so relaxing that I did not want to to end. They sanitized before and after and Julie.wore a mask the entire time.Make an appointment, you will not be disappointed.

This place is DISGUSTING! The building itself is infested with bugs on the outside and inside. The school is dirty looking and teachers/students don’t social distance or wear masks the correct way. It honestly looks like no one has cleaned in years. I’m surprised this school is open right now. You would think during a pandemic, the staff would be more diligent about keeping the place clean! Nope. No one cares. Be careful coming here.

I got my hair died yesterday by Megan K, she was fantastic! I was nervous going into my appointment (considering my family has a cosmetology background) but Megan and her instructor Jeni made sure I left the salon pleased and confident. Megan was sweet and genuinely cared about how my hair turned out. I truly appreciated her attention to detail. My hair can be difficult to lighten and Megan took all the right steps to get me where I wanted!

Had a wonderful experience today. I got my hair curled and my daughters got cuts. The work is really great and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back!

My review is about attending this school as a student. The admissions staff is very helpful. They also offer flexible student schedules. I completed the Cosmetology program here. Of course there are improvements to be made as with any school, but everyone (especially Erin and Kathy) do work very hard to keep up with offering classes and answering questions about the program while attending. I do believe they would benefit from having additional staff because they are stretched a bit too thin. Overall I am satisfied with my experience due to the fact that despite many hurdles, I was able to complete the program.

I had the pleasure of coming to Hair Professionals today for eyebrow waxing and was extremely satisfied with the professional service from student Caira. She was very gentle!! My face usually gets super red after eyebrow waxing but she did a great job that I wasnt red at all afterwards which was shocking to me! She cleaned and prepped my skin before the actual waxing- which no other eyebrow place does) The school itself is spotless and very modern!! Great atmosphere, service, and price. Would recommend setting up an appointment to anyone in need of skin/haircare.

Did an amazing job on my trim! Only thing I dont recommend if youre of color, is getting a wet cut. It was my first time getting it cut wet & Ive been having major shedding since then. But overall very friendly staff Ill be going back for another cut soon. Ill just advise it being dry before cutting ☺️

I got a balayage done by Kara S and she did an absolutely amazing job!! It was my first time getting my hair dyed so I was nervous, but she made me feel comfortable the entire time. She knows exactly what shes doing. It was a great experience I will definitely be going back.

Emailed the Oswego location for hair color services and was called back and scheduled an appt for both my daughter and I. Jenny who was instructor was professional and kind when greeted at the school door and introduced to our two stylist Taylor and Jess.Both stylist took their time to listen to what we wanted done to our hair (peek a boo highlights) and one color blonde (underneath top half of hair)Also took their time on our color applications. They made sure the instructor approved of their applications in a timely manner. Our color is perfect the best highlights and one color application we’ve ever gotten I will definitely continue to work with the stylist in the future as well as suggest the school for further hair care. Thank you Taylor and Jess and Jenny for giving us perfection in our hair color and new life to our hair. I highly recommend hair professionals and Oswego 10 star review!All the students were masks they had us wash our hands and took our temperatures before any services were done there’s plenty of social distancing the areas were clean where we were getting our hair done the building outside is clean. Lindsay Spencer is absolutely phenomenal! HP is blessed to have her expertise. Best person I have ever had my haircut and colored from both at the college and professionally outside school. She is professional, knows her stuff, and adds suggestions she thinks would help me after I leave. She’s my girl from now on!

I’m currently enrolled in this school with the full time schedule. I would NOT recommend wasting your money in an education at this school. First I would like to mention the parking lot for the students is across the street from the school. It is unlit, unmarked, and not paved. Walking across the street to get to the school is dangerous, considering it’s Rt. 34 (which is a busy road) & there is no crosswalk. The school itself is dirty. There are bugs in all of the ceiling lights as well as an infestation of spiders. Students have even found mildew on their mannequins. The same towels we use to clean the salon are the same towels we use on clients. Supposedly there is a cleaning crew that comes in once a month, but as far as I’ve seen the school is always just as dirty as the day before. When students are dismissed for a lunch/dinner break, everyone is forced to eat in the break room provided by the school which is also where we do laundry. There are two small tables with few chairs supplied by the school for all of the students to share. We are not provided with safe drinking water, instead we need to pay for water out of the vending machine which is just another addition to the $23,000 tuition we have to pay. The admissions director & office manager recently enforced a dress code. Along with that came students ONLY being able to drink out of the metal water bottles they provided for us (which was part of our tuition but we were not noted of that until 5 months into our education). A few of the students found rust in their water bottles upon first receiving them. There are also periods of time where students are left unsupervised for up to 30 minutes at a time, with or without clients. Students have also been notified that the school offers a nail & makeup program, but we have only received a few hours of each. The school continues to advertise nail/makeup programs as well as doing hair extensions which the school does NOT provide as part of the education. I would not recommend attending this school. Do not waste your time or your money here.

Lupe is beyond amazing when it comes to the Esthetics-side of Hair Professionals. I received a Hot Stone Treatment and it phenomenal! Lupe was extremely professional and went to extreme lengths to make sure that I was not only comfortable, but relaxed as well! I would definitely recommend Lupe and I already prebooked for next month with her!!!I have been back, but this time for a haircut! Julia is awesome at haircuts and I would highly recommend her! She listened to what I wanted and gave me the exact cut that I was asking for! I cannot recommend her enough!!!!

This is a review as a student.I’d like to begin with the positives which are few:Jenny, Megan and Katie are amazing instructors. They go above and beyond for us students with the little resources we/they are given. If it wasn’t for Jenny I would have dropped out many times.Sadly, the positives end there. This school is the most UNORGANIZED and DIRTY institution I have ever attended and I highly suggest taking your business and education elsewhere because their main mission in the admin office is money.During my time here, I have heard many accounts of predatory behavior from the office when signing up with admissions. These young women were not only rushed through their contract signing that they didn’t have a chance to read what they were signing (I know this personally as the same happened to me but I made sure to read it) but talked into programs that were not what they wanted to primarily focus on with the promise “you learn this in the cosmetology program”. Whereas this may be true to an extent, it’s not fully true and the office should be disclosing this. If a potential student is interested in JUST nails it needs to be disclosed that you will not learn everything about nails and will not be able to work as a nail tech unless you receive a nail tech license. This is the same for skin. We can only do so much as cosmetologists. Instead of swaying students into the most expensive program they offer they should be explaining everything so the student understands instead of only worry about the bottom line, money.The administration staff is a joke. They are beyond unorganized and you cannot come to them with anything as it will be brushed under the table. Students can report harassment from staff and students and we are told “we cannot do anything without valid proof” but yet they “take it seriously.” Even when provided with valid proof we as students are brushed under the table.My education was mediocre at best. I realize you learn most after your schooling in this field but when your instructor cares more about her phone and doing work for her other job, how can you learn? I have a mile long list of what had to be retaught to me when I went on the floor as we were not taught correctly in the first place. This instructor was impossible to receive help from unless you were her favorite and most of the time you were treated like a burden for even asking. Multiple times during my time in basics I listened to her and another instructor that is no longer at our campus talk poorly about multiple students who were on the floor. This was beyond disheartening especially when you’re first starting out. Your teachers should want you to succeed and those conversations SHOULD NOT be happening around students. I should mention I mentioned this to the office as it made me VERY uncomfortable on multiple occasions and again, swept under the rug. Also, I’m not sure how I got 100%s on some of basics test outs, I never had a teacher observe me doing it. How would she know if I was doing in correctly?The school itself is dirty. There are marks on the walls in the bathroom that you don’t know if its hair color or something else. Garbage is usually spilling on to the floor in the bathrooms and on the salon floor despite students trying to keep up with it. The air/heating vents are caked in dust and god knows the last time they have been cleaned. Multiple students noticed mold in the back closets. The lights are horrible and covered in dead bugs and our product display shelves were so bad that some products were caked in dust and dirt unless some students took it upon themselves to scrub them. I do not recommend this school to anyone. If you are interested in this field please look elsewhere. Spend your money at a school that cares about your education and you as a student.

It is such a nice place to get a haircut. I always have Kaylie cut my hair because she always does a good job. She’s really friendly and never disappoints !!

The students are wonderful and truly care about the services they are providing without pay as part of their schooling. I experienced three different services and spoke with 5 different students about the conditions at the school. I feel bad for all of the young people attending this school who are paying a lot of money and spending a lot of hours there. The owner of this school must be very greedy to not be spending one penny on cleaning products. The bathrooms were disgusting. When I commented about it to one of the students she said that the owner does not clean anything in the whole place, refuses to hire anyone to clean and also refuses to buy any cleaning products after many students said that THEY would even clean if they had some products to do it with! The other students I talked with confirmed this was true. There were finger prints all over the fixtures in the salon area, hair everywhere and the walls were so scuffed up and needing a paint job, not to mention a paint job over the sign that says Vidal Sassoon! I was also told that the school is in no way affiliated with Vidal Sassoon! What is wrong with the owner of this school??? The students are completely being taken advantage of and completely disrespected. The owner uses them for a huge personal profit -- THEY are paying to work there!!! Greedy, greedy, greedy!

On Wednesday last week. I had an appointment at hp. I was in promptly, and the service was great! Charissa cut my hair. She was very efficient in asking me what I like and dont like about my hair. I think my hair came out great! Even my wife said great hair cut! Best cut Ive had in long time.

Lindsay is seriously THE BEST. She is so sweet and personable, and also so good at what she does! If you are looking for a new hairstylist, she should be your new go to! She definitely is mine!

I had a microdermabrasion done....my first facial procedure ever and it went great. Becky did my procedure and she was very friendly and professional, told me about the products she was using, and how the procedure worked. Very impressed!

Updated Review....returned to Hair Professionals for a fresh spiral perm yesterday. Was greeted by Jessica Dillard who was profession, pleasant and skillfully performed the tedious task of rolling just longer than shoulder length hair into a spiral perm. The process was performed flawlessly and surprisingly quickly and I COULDNT BE HAPPIER WITH THE RESULTS! Only after the entire process was complete was I to learn that it was only her second day on the floor, but, given her natural talent and under the watchful eye and guidance of her instructor Jenny it is as lovely a result as any salon I have paid 3 or 4 times more at. Stop in and see Jessica and you wont be dissspointed.

Ashley was awesome! She took the time to educate me on the health of my hair and what products I should be using. Got a color, conditioning treatment and cut. What a difference my hair looks so healthy! Thanks to Ashley and the Hair professionals team. Thanks everyone!!

I generally go to Hair professionals once a week and get my haircut done by the one and only Alexandra C. She is extremely passionate about her job, shes the cute hispanic girl with the big booty that everyone cannot stop staring at. Alexandra is very thorough when it comes to anything with hair especially haircuts, she does a very fabulous job and she constantly reminds me that Im going bald on the back of my head. Its really hard to find great service like this nowadays to find someone that cares so much about my own hair. I highly recommend her to everyone, she does more than just haircuts she does it all!

Kaylie Reynolds recently colored my hair along with a trim and on a whim I asked for bangs. She knocked it out of the park!!! I asked to go back to my natural color of dark brown but not black and Kaylie did a great job matching the color. I love my bangs as well. I will be going back to see her for sure!

Awful experience, the teachers kicked out a paying customer, in the middle of her service because it was closing time. The instructors at Hair Professionals in Oswego, IL are anything but professional. Their students are amazing, they’re encouraging and helpful, however two of their teachers are a different story.I accompanied my sister; she got a balayage, root touch up and trim, so we anticipated being there a few hours. As it was nearing closing time, one of the teachers asked her to pay so she could begin closing her drawer (mind you this was around 8:20, 40 minutes before closing). My sister paid for her services including a blowout (they charge extra for this.(I was keeping track of time because we were timing the toner on my sister hair) At around 8:40, Carol embarrassed the girl who was working on my sisters’ hair because she still wasn’t done. She first pretended to forget her students name, she shouted “can someone help, what’s her name over there?” again she did this in front of the entire class instead of stepping up and offering assistance. Mind you, I’ve been to this location multiple times and I’ve seen Carol interact with this student, so I KNOW she knows her name. It gets worse from here…Around 8:55, the student began drying my sisters hair, at which point Tanisha (another teacher) interrupted the student and asked “who’s closing for you?” The student responded I’m not sure none of the teachers have approached me yet. Both teachers Carol and Tanisha berated the student and continuously shouted at her to stop drying her clients hair. Imagine this, shes holding the round brush and hairdryer and theyre yelling at her to stop. The student told them, the blowout service was already paid for, so she had to finish her job. Tanisha responded “does this girl not understand what I’m telling her?” The student reiterated why she had to finish her job, to which both Carol and Tanisha said “I don’t care, I am already clocked out,” “It’s not my problem,” “I’m not the floor teacher,” “I Have to go” etc. Mind you this was all said in front of the entire class, a paying customer who was still sitting in the chair, a returning customer and my 11 year old niece who also got a haircut.When asked for a refund for the blowout, they said there’s nothing they can do and my sister would have to call the following day.Hair Professionals is a school, so I would expect errors and lack of experience from the students, but never from the teachers. As teachers they are supposed to set the standard of what a positive salon experience should be. Unfortunately, Carol and Tanisha have no respect for their students, they lack professionalism, they lack manners and basic customer service skills. I just can’t believe, they berated a student in front of her peers and customers and at the end of it all they let an angry customer walk away with drenched wet hair. As teachers, they did not complete their job of double checking their students work nor did they at any point throughout that evening offer assistance to their student. I hate to say that I will never return to Hair Professionals, especially when their students do a great job, however the experience was just so unbelievably negative, that I can’t see myself ever going back there.

Ive been coming here for nearly ten years! I love this salon and everyone Ive encountered here. I had services today with Nicole B, Lisa B, and Kristine B. They were all lovely and professional.

The owner on the school is Wanda. In my 2 full years of education at Hair Professionals in Oswego I saw her maybe 3 times. She seemed to have no idea about what went on at the school and especially because administrators would kick the pushing students around into high gear when she came to the school. for a long time administrators tried to institute a policy where you had to fill out a form to meet with the counselor. There were two counselors at the school and they never did anything but sit in their office. Why would I need to make an appointment to see you when every time I walk in you werent doing anything? Late in my education, a new administrator named Erin was added to the school and I saw many incredible improvements happen quickly. Before she arrived, the complaints of the students had been listed and written out and then presented to Kathy, a counselor, and blatantly ignored. They do not provide lockers big enough for the girls to store other things, the student parking lot is dangerous and scary, the school was often disgusting and unkempt even though they tried to convince us they had someone come clean it once a month and we were solely responsible for all the cleaning to happen there. They made me regret my decision to going to hair and I was terrified to work in a real salon now, Several months after graduating and being employed, I see that being a stylist is nowhere near as hellish and insufferable as my time at hair professionals. I was bullied and publicly made fun of by teachers, I was told to quite down when I had complaints, and I was completely disrespected.

I love getting services done here. Everyone is professional, caring, and fun to be around. Id recommend to anyone looking for hair or nail services.

Jailene Rocha did a cut and color on my sister and it looked amazing! Her slicing technique is definitely on point. She has such a patient nature and a professional way about herself. She was a great listener and gave my sister exactly what she asked for. Kudos to Jailenes teachers👍🏻👍🏻oh I must add the color was to die for such a rich red w brown highlights!

I had the pleasure of being a model for Mariah and she did an excellent job with my highlights. I really loved the color and the technique that she did it looks fabulous! I used Hair Professional for the first time and was very impressed. The staff and students were professional. Mariah B was really nice and did a great job on my 10 year old daughters hair and Krystine B did a great job on my 9 year daughters hair. The students and staff were all professional. We will return.

First of all DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY BY COMING HERE. Since I started school here, our teacher Carole does nothing but sit on FaceTime with her boyfriend all day. We learn nothing unless except her personal life an education. Shes intimidating and scary. If I’m not supposed to be on my phone why are all three educators doing nothing but texting and scrolling??????? We have all complained to admin staff but they won’t do anything about it and tell us to leave them alone and lock us out. The owners of this school are greedy, and the guy is rude. they overflow the school so students are left without stations to work at. How am I supposed to learn anything when I don’t even have a place to work the school inside is disgusting and they make the paying students clean it and if we don’t do it they won’t count any of the work we did . I wish I had read some of these reviews before enrolling. The older students told us that Erin and Cathy force students to write false reviews to make them and the school look good. If you try to drop to go somewhere else they tell you, you owe them money. All I want to do is be taught but that’s impossible here cause the teachers don’t care and sit on their phones. They make students park across the busy highway and walk to building cause only management can park by school. I started two months ago and it’s omly gotten worse and wish I researched more. PLEASE research before enrolling here. No one is happy here

The Cosmetology program is awesomeThe teachers make sure you have a understanding about everything. There is alot of hands on and the theory is great.

Im tired of hearing my niece complain about her education. There are other schools out there that offer a way better curriculum with structure & more teachers for the amount of students. There should be at least one teacher per class. Not at this school. I was shocked to learn they dont teach acrylic nails & in depth ethnic hair (extensions & hair braiding) for the amount of money they charge for tuition. I also learned they use the same shampoo on clients as they do on mannequins. How damaging is that. Also, the skincare & makeup line they have for sale will more than likely be expired so please check before purchasing.

I got exactly the cut and color I wanted!!! I absolutely love it! This is my 2nd visit and will continue to go. I highly recommend Crystal Ghanayem.

My experience as a student at Hair Professionals in Oswego was traumatizing and stressful. I would NEVER recommend this school to any future student for multiple reasons. When I first signed up with administration I did not realize how dangerous the student parking would be. The students are forced to park in an unpaved, unlit, and unmarked lot across Route 34. Since Hair Professionals does not provide any lockers to store equipment, even though it is a requirement, all students must carry their two heavy cases, manikins, and school books across the street. Since there is no crosswalk I have personally almost been hit by cars multiple times. The winter time is a nightmare with the ice and snow mounds. However, the staff gets to comfortably park in the building’s parking lot. Another frustrating issue is their lack of professionalism. A few weeks into my experience I realized they did not care about my education. The teacher in basics class would leave the room for extended periods of time only to be found gossiping with the teacher on the floor. My basics class was taught out of two different text books. I was personally given the older version of the textbook along with a few other girls while the teacher taught out of the new book, which the tests were based off of. When I approached administration about the irritating issue I was belittled and told to “take better notes”. In NO other educational program would it be allowed to teach out of two different text books. I paid the same amount as the person sitting next to me. Once I finished basics I went on the floor to realize that there were not enough stations or teachers per student. Even though they advertise spacious classrooms, the school became so overcrowded that about halfway through the program they started having theory class out of the salon floor with no desks for students to write on. The students would rush to school to try to secure their own station. I felt so uncomfortable because when I was given my first few clients, there was no one around to help me. There was only ONE teacher on the floor with sometimes over 25 students. On many occasions I would chase the teacher around and still receive no help. Keep in mind, they have cameras that administration watch like hawks to make sure no students are sitting down, and if they do see you sitting they come out from the back and demand you to stand. It is even MORE frustrating that multiple people, including myself, have had many things stolen (since there are no secure lockers) and administration refuses to check the cameras to try to solve the issue. In fact, their solution is to charge you for replacing the stolen items. Interesting? I would strongly recommend anyone looking at any Hair Professionals to think twice about their decision. Beware of the fine print in their contract; especially where it states that rules may change without any written notification. You will not be allowed to use your cell phone in the building, even on break. If they even see your cell phone it will be seized. I did not receive an optimal education and am not prepared. I feel EXTREMELY SCAMMED! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I felt like their top priority was to make money. I felt like I was there every day to be used to perform their services for them to make money without HELPING or EDUCATIONG me during the process. I BEGGED TO BE TAUGHT. But I felt more like an employee than a student. Repeatedly I did not receive a lunch break because I was forced to work through the day. Even though I did not receive my 30 minute break it was taken out of my daily clock hours. Therefore many days I was cheated out of 30 minutes I actually worked. I know students who became so irritated by the mistreatment at Hair Professionals and transferred to other schools, but still owe them their money. Once you reach 750 hours, you owe the whole tuition. If you are crazy enough to pursue Hair Professionals after reading this, take a copy of the contract to an attorney first, I wish I would have.
