My daughter has been going to Okemos Music Academy for several years and we are very happy with the quality of music lessons she receives.

I have been taking guitar lessons at Okemos Music Acadamy and I am very happy with what I have learned a great place to learn for all ages. I am 74 and having fun.

My niece has been taking piano lessons here for several months and she gets so excited on her “piano day” every week. Not only is she excited to come and getting a lot of joy out of the lessons, but she’s starting to sound pretty good on her songs. These guys have a real attention to my niece’s needs and a great conscientiousness. Can’t recommend more highly.

Both my husband and daughter take guitar lessons with Jim and we are so impressed with how easily he is able to teach to different skill levels. My favorite part of OMA is that the instructors teach what the students want to learn. There isn’t a prescribed song list or path, the students help drive their musical education and that is fantastic.

As you enter Okemos Music Academy the atmosphere is amazing. A friendly face greets you each and every time you arrive. Piano and Voice lessons here are wonderful! Love this place!

My 6 year old daughter takes ukulele lessons and seems to really enjoy learning music. Coming from a house with zero music background it is amazing how they educate them at such a young age. The price is right, the times are flexible and the commitment is too. If your looking to try an instrument or are interested in singing I would highly recommend Okemos Music Academy as its flexibility works with your schedule and will even allow you to try a class with no commitment. They usually have great intro specials too, always ASK! the customer service is also wonderful. Good luck!

Okemos Music Academy is a great place to learn music and grow as a musician. The staff are knowledgeable and encouraging, and the management is always seeking to find positive enhancements to their service. Highly recommend that you give them a call or pay them a visit.

We had and Exceptional music teacher. My 8 year old daughter received private piano lessons for two years. Unfortunately, we moved and had to discontinue lessons. Our theacher had an excellent approach to teaching music.

String Connection has a great academy with a great mission statement. The instructors there guide the students through their musical education but also encourage the students to add their own creative input on their curriculum, making the lessons fun, something to look forward to every week. This is really noticeable during their numerous recitals where you see students of all ages and talents playing many different instruments and styles from several genres. If you or someone close to you is looking for a place to take lessons, I strongly suggest coming here.

We are so grateful to be apart of the String Connection Family. Music is a gift and the family at String Connection has shared their gift many ways; lessons, recitals, music instruments/tools to learn. They make us feel more than welcome. The String Repair staff even offered their craft after the power outage this winter, at no cost during certain hours. String Connection is more than just lessons, they are an extension to our family. My nephew has been taking guitar lessons here for about six months. I can’t believe how much he has learned in such a short period of time. The staff and the owner are also very friendly and helpful.

Lessons here were just ok. One of my son’s instructors I felt was really good. My other son’s instructor was consistently late. Paid for 30 min lessons and even with his instructor being late, lessons would end right on time without a makeup time for her being late. No apologies either. Sometimes she was at least 10 minutes late. That put us down to a 20 minute lesson. It was frustrating because I would drive 20 minutes to get there and have to wait for the lesson to start, which was usually late, then have to drive back without getting the full lesson time I paid for. Finally decided to cancel lessons because it was just too difficult to schedule makeup lessons here. All of a sudden when we canceled, makeup lessons opened up. Never emailed to confirm the last makeup lesson with us like they said they would. Lost out on their last lesson which cost us $60 ($30 per child). I would say this place is ok if you get the right instructor. If you get one that is always late, it is not worth the money.

Advice: need to watch out for this place. According to them NO (under ANY circumstances) Make-Up lesson policy!!- they will call you and cancel lessons with about 1.5 hours notice (and then NOT give you the change to make up... basically, you are just SOL for the lesson.)- they can switch or substitute your normal or usual teacher for anyone THEY choose WITHOUT any prior notice to you or your kids.- they do NOT keep the kids and their music learning and progress at the forefront of their business.- will not, cannot issue you a monthly INVOICE for what they charge you, even if you ask. (will just write on paper). completely out of date business system.Basically they will just take you cc info, charge it, and you are SOL on the items above, like it or not.Teacher is good, but not always there.They need to learn how to run an educational business, not just provide some space for kids to take lessons.Incredibly poor attitude!!!Finally do not let the GOOGLE REVIEWS fool you.Derrick Jones and Eric Wiehl, that wrote AWESOME reviews recently... are EMPLOYEES of the String Connection. Cmon....who are you trying to fool. Honestly!
