The Institute of Healthcare is one of the best EMT programs offered in San Diego County. The Program Director, Jonathan Pinto, was more than helpful in every aspect and you could not ask for better Program Director. JP, Jessie and all other instructors were very eager to help with any questions. The instructors are ready to run as many on scene scenarios an EMT may face in the field and are extremely knowledgeable with the information in the text book, as well as national and local protocols. JP was still helping me and answering all questions, with rapid response, several months after completing the program. JP and his instructors show a genuine love for all aspects of EMS, which gives the EMT student an extra sense of motivation.

I would 110% recommend this program! First and foremost, JP and his colleagues all did a great job in explaining the skills and were very patient with us until we understood all of the course material. Yes, it is a lot of work but that comes with any EMT program and I just feel like this one goes way above and beyond what others are able to.

First and foremost - the teacher is a very humble human. He really digs deep into the material and analyzes the small details that not many teachers would go about. He really encourages the idea of teamwork - which I found most rewarding. I really suggest if youre interested in becoming an EMT, then this is the school where you should begin. Great atmosphere, wonderful system and most importantly a fantastic family environment.

Good school and fast pace, just pay attention on passing the national because its tuff, its duable just gotta study study study. The program is fast, information it is fast so take notes. Please please please ask your instructor as many questions you want, pay attention to airway, cardiology because its on the test. One thing tho, please help the student pass the national and give them current tools and books to study or a good app, to used as study guide because I promise you, it help me passed my exam on a second try but the first try, I did not passed because the books was not updated, but I accomplished what I needed to do and thats all that matters, JP and staff I thank you all for the opportunity I DID IT PASSED MY NATIONAL thank you much love Jen

Highly recommend the Institute of Healthcare for EMT training. The first and foremost reason is the staff - JP the Program Director is truly the best. Hes a wealth of knowledge and makes sure his students absorb all of his insight. JP always makes himself available to answer any questions you may have any time of day and really encourages his students to excel, advance and be strong patient advocates. On top of that he makes the lectures very interesting to listen to. The EMT program is also a great value, tuition includes everything not just the class itself but also - the textbook, study material (crash course), online lab access for quizzes, exams + homeworks, class uniforms, some basic EMT equipment such as a stethoscope, pen light, trauma shears, and even the fee for the practical skills examination (which is conducted in house, another plus!). The final reason is simply results.. when you sit for the national registry written exam JPs students are fully prepared and ready to go. You will learn a ton, network, make friends, and soon help to provide optimal care for patients in need. If you are looking to take an EMT class in San Diego County I would highly recommend you contact JP and enroll. This is what i did and the rest was history. In EMS and fire, you have to be both a teacher and a student for the extent of your career. Its an Ethos of the profession, and one that the driven individuals who go into fire and paramedicine adopt as a way of life. Jon is an old friend of mine from when I was in EMS more than 20 years ago, and I knew and still know him as a shining example of what this Ethos means. I worked with him for several years and know him to be one of the most solid guys Ive ever known. After a long hiatus, I decided to get back into EMS and right when I decided to, Jon told me about his new EMT school. It was an honor from the beginning, not just to be able to take a class from him but to see the high standards he has implemented for himself--as hes always done--as well as his business, staff, and work ethic. His teaching style is engaging, informative, and meaningful, and even through I went through this many years ago I found myself realizing that I learned more from his program than I did from any of the local community college ones. Jon has a passion for the profession, and what is more, for teaching and growing people to the point to where he helps them realize their potential. No other program instils the sense of camaraderie of family that IOH does, and it was truly a blessing to take this class from Jon.

The quality of the instruction at this institute is second to none. I had actually taken another accelerated EMT class in 2012 and was wondering how IOH would compare. I felt that the quality of instruction both during the online portion and the practical portion had better prepared my fellow classmates than my previous in-person class had prepared me. Not only that, but the instructors were willing and able to work with me on some extended deadlines as my life got a bit more complicated due to covid, as it has for all of us. The instructors also selected the cohort for this class well. I would feel comfortable being in a professional setting with any of my colleagues, and I was proud to be included among them. Completing my EMT program at Institute of Healthcare was a great decision! The instructors are all kind, flexible, and very open to questions and comments. They work with you to create the best education plan so that you feel knowledgable and skilled by the end. They are very communicative and easy to talk to, which got rid of any nerves I had on taking on this new challenge. They also try hard to make it a personal education geared towards your interests (including through guest speakers who actually work out in the field). Im really glad I chose this institution over some larger orgs because I felt like I was able to focus more time on the skills I struggled with since they were willing to work with me on them. After obtaining my EMR certification in high school, I had always wished to continue and pursue my certification as an EMT. As a current college student, I had much trouble finding an EMT academy in San Diego County that offered courses in the summer and winter months in order to work around my studies and other extra curricular activities. I was stuck in this predicament until a very late night web surf in late May, which was when I stumbled upon the website to Institute of Healthcare, Inc. Called JP first thing the next morning, sent in my enrollment info, and started the class the first day of June. Without a doubt one of the best decisions I could have made for myself and my future career in healthcare.I am now at the last day of the 4-week accelerated course and have made preparations to take the NREMT exam. JP and fellow instructors Nick, Deanna, and Jessica are all very knowledgeable in prehospital/hospital care, each with their own experiences and backgrounds. Not only did they teach the didactic portion of the course with a great sense of passion and engagement, they also shared personal on/off the job experiences, taught important lessons, and gave valuable tips about the field and life in general that I will carry with me forever. Any question I had, they were always there to answer both thoughtfully and honestly. I was fortunate to be part of a diverse cohort of peers that also shared their own backgrounds and perspectives, creating an excellent team atmosphere. Skills days were full of laughter and camaraderie but were also insightful and productive. The small class size made it ideal for full immersion in the material and skills, allowing for more personal interaction with the instructors. The IOH location had all the requisite teaching materials, equipment, and space that made learning very fun and exciting. IOH was even able to acquire a high-fidelity mannequin, which was an amazing/realistic piece of technology! Was very stoked about all the equipment that was included with tuition, aside from the books and other class materials. If you are looking for an EMT academy in San Diego County, Institute of Healthcare should be a TOP choice of consideration. The flexibility and quality of education is UNMATCHED, especially in times like these. I am looking forward to my employment as an EMT and cannot thank IOH and the team enough for what they have done to prepare me. They also provide AHA BLS-CPR certification/recertification if you need that as well!

I have never left a review before but I am leaving one today for the Institute of Healthcare due to my complete satisfaction with the course. I moved down from Murrieta in January of 2020 to attend Palomar’s fire classes to get my EMT certificate. After signing up for all my classes, I discovered Palomar requires a prerequisite class for their EMT class. Two semesters! One whole year to get an EMT certificate. In my mind that seemed a little excessive. I went straight to google and within the hour I was on the phone with Jonathan Pinto (JP) - Program Director of the Institute of Healthcare. JP was welcoming and invited me on such short notice to see the schooling space and explain the entirety of the institute. JP alone brings credibility as an instructor with over 30 years as a Paramedic in the field; he works closely with his wife Jessica who is a registered nurse, and Deanna who has a long list of credibility throughout her years in EMS. I enrolled into the Emergency Medical Technician course and began class 2 days later. The scheduling was very similar to a regular college schedule so that it allows time to still work a part-time or full-time job. I was happy to be a part of the first class that was a 9 week course. There was a payment plan set in place so it made it easy to pay the total amount by the time of class completion. The 9 week course had a balanced fluidity of both lecture based and hands-on skills to practice EMT competency. JP organized guest speakers for class time from all different occupations throughout the EMS field to get an overview and interesting perspectives. Less than a week before our class completion, the COVID-19 virus halted our class by the order of San Diego County. JP did everything in his power to get every student through the rest of the course and prepare us for the national registry exam. I was hesitant at first to take the NREMT but passed the skills and written portion first round, no problem. I got an EMT job within the first two weeks. JP keeps in contact to see where his alumni are today. Great program from start to finish. Highly recommended course for future students!
