Had a great experience!!! Ron was my surfing instructor and one of the nicest people I have met! Ron was very knowledgeable, extremely patient and is a great teacher. He knew how to break techniques down and provided valuable advice. Not just that but everyone at this shop was very warm and friendly. Cory even looked out for my car as I arrived to give me directions to the parking lot. I cant recommend this shop enough! I felt taken care of like family. Great vibes all around!

We found them online and went by their reviews. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We called ahead party of 8, called in with height, weight for wetsuits. It was fast and smooth. Within 10 min we felt like we had known them our whole lives. We loved it so much we came back 2 days later (unplanned) and surfed again. We have never surfed before and were standing on our boards the first hour. (The kids were faster). The are clear, critique well, patient and SO EASY TO WORK WITH!!! They are worth every penny. Took surfing lessons with Whitlock for the first time and it was a blast. They made it easy to pickup the technique on surfing. I would highly recommend taking surfing lessons here. With the lessons you will receive a board and a wetsuit with the rate. Also they will shuttle you down to the beach so you don’t have to pay for parking at the beach.

Met Cory and Hana on the beach as they were doing a surf clinic with local kids. They had a big Whitlock Surf tent and we started talking to them. Hana gave my daughter a surf lesson right then. She liked it so much that we came back two days later for another one. Friendly people! Great part of our vacation! Thanks guys!

From arrival to departure, I had the absolute best customer service. Really chill and friendly dudes who have a ton of surf knowledge. Wally was a super great instructor and helped me in many ways. I caught numerous different waves because of his tips and tricks! He was patient and had a great attitude the whole time. Definitely a fun guy to be around! My kids (10&13) had a wonderful surf experience. It was their first time surfing, and it was a very positive experience. The friendly staff put my kids at ease right away. Owner Cory was very friendly and personable and my kids adored his niece Hana who instructed them daily. Thanks for an unforgettable week. We found a Groupon for a 2 hour surf lesson and were really excited to do it. I called the place and the phone went straight to voice mail. They didnt call back so we drove about 15 minutes to the place. It was about 9:15 and their hours said they open at 9. There were 2 girls waiting outside and said theyd been there for an hour because they were supposed to have had a surf lesson at 8 or something like that. No one ever showed up. We walked down to the beach and around the shops. Came back at 10:00 and they were still closed.

We researched all the Surfing shops and surfing lessons in Oceanside and found none better. BEST surf shop, surf boards and surf lessons in OSide. And at the lowest prices around too! You will not find better instructors and manager. There is none better than Carl!!

Caught the very first wave! After a little bit of coaching on land, I rode several waves in the first few minutes. Very different from my first surfing experience (found a board in the garage of our beach rental, watched some YouTube videos, spent the next couple of hours eating sand and drinking sea water). Ron was an excellent teacher, kept challenging me throughout the lesson to try the next thing. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone wanting to surf for the first time. Thank you!

My son and I visited oceanside a few weekends ago and had a great Whitlock surfing experience. The owner, Corey, was very friendly and welcomed us into an already fully booked class. Our instructor was great, having us up and surfing in no time. Unfortunately we experienced some adversity but the Whitlock team were professional, kind and generous. Would definitely recommend.

Whitlock Surf is amazing! We took our first surf lessons today with Whitlock. From the moment we stepped into the door the folks at Whitlock were friendly and fun. Our boys had so much fun with Jorge, our instructor. He was patient and funny. I really appreciate how he encouraged, coached, and cheered for us. Jorge turned my hesitant and anxious teenager into a confident novice. Thanks for making sure we had a great experience. Our surf lessons were the highlight of our trip. Everyone at Whitlock is great, its clear they are passionate about surfing and customer service. We cant wait to surf with Whitlock again in the future. 💙

Surfing has been a bucket list item of mine, but I am also super terrified. I spent 6 weeks in Oceanside and on my last day got the courage to try it. What a great decision. The entire experience was amazing. Our instructor Carl was great. He is a awesome teacher and made sure that all of us had an experience that met all of our levels. I felt safe and confident in my first attempts and successfully surfed. I highly recommend this business for any level of surfer and I can’t wait to do it again when I come back. Thank you.

Wow! What an amazing experience. We came for one lesson, and stayed for a week and a half- totally addicted to surfing! I dont know where to even begin, Carl is absolutely amazing, super down to earth and great customer service. Corey was also hilarious!! Our instructor Jorge was phenomenal, very patient, reassuring and passionate, he gets so excited when you catch a wave. All of the guys share the excitement for the waves and are very friendly!! I would absolutely take a class again from them and highly recommend this experience!!!

These guys were amazing!!! Very laid back, and helpful-we went on a whim with no reservations. Captain Ron took us out and we had the BEST experience. We are newbies, and if we can do it-anyone can. He was very patient, but knew exactly when to push us and what pace we needed. He made sure we were able to make it up to ride a wave. If were ever back in the area, we will be sure to stop by! Such a great surfing experience! We had a family reunion last week in Oceanside and Carl and Ray patiently taught several of us how to surf. We had a wide spread of ages and abilities (12 to 40+) and everyone was catching waves. We rented boards from them 2 other days and surfed on our own. It was seriously SO MUCH FUN!!! The experience started from the moment we walked in the shop until we left. It greatly exceeded our expectations. These guys are awesome..... thank you so much!

I have been coming to San Diego since I was a child. We have done all sorts of family excursions including deep sea fishing, jet skiing, and kayaking. Surfing with Whitlock in Ocean Beach was BY FAR the MOST FUN of any!! We had such an incredible time and our instructor was amazing. Captain Ron is one of the most genuine people you will meet. He is such a great teacher and truly wanted to make sure everyone had a great time. He worked with each person one on one to catch a wave. We were in Oceanside, California for a week. We called around to find prices for renting wetsuits and boards. Whitlock gave us a very nice price. The staff was very friendly and they gave us a quick Surfing 101. Having the wetsuits and boards made our vacation much more enjoyable.

My husband and I wanted to try out surfing for the first time. Whitlock gave us a great deal for the two of us. They were also very accommodating to our family since one of us had to watch our two young kids while the other was in the water having a lesson. They supplied the wetsuits and board. Carl, the instructor was very patient and encouraging.

Surf lessons were fun with Carl. He talked us into buying shirts and they would ship them to us. Its been 5 months and I have called 15 times. Paid money but NEVER received the shirts. Bad business!
