Derick gave my son Jake guitar lessons for a while in Charlotte. He was amazing! So patient and fun, which is no small task when teaching a teenage boy! He makes learning guitar easy and interesting. Jake loved listening to Derick play and learning about different kinds of music, broadening his musical tastes. We were very sad when he moved to Nashville.....but Nashville is lucky to have him!

Derick is awesome - Some folks play guitar really well - Not everyone can translate that into showing other people how to do it. Derick is both a stellar player and a fantastic teacher. I’m a singer/songwriter so - I’m here to learn my way around guitar a bit better - specifically to up-level my writing and for accompanying myself playing out. Derick was able to assess my abilities very quickly and give me feedback and exercises that - for real - immediately got me playing and thinking differently about guitar. This guy knows his theory too - I highly recommend.

Derick customizes guitar lessons using music that you love to build a strong foundation of technique and theory. His passion for music blended with an appropriate level of patience has been very encouraging. Derick is also an accomplished performing musician that will blow your mind with his own playing. In my opinion, I dont think guitar teachers of this caliber come around very often so Id strongly consider his services if you are serious about making progress on your guitar.

I had lessons with Derick in Charlotte. Derick greatly broadened my approach to the guitar and my understanding of the guitar. It was time well spent. He renewed my interest in the instrument even though I have been playing guitar for over 40 years now.
