I was told by a local dentist that I needed a crown, and that it would cost me over $1000 out of pocket. I went to the Dental School for a second opinion, and everyone there was absolutely fantastic! I received a permanent filling rather than a crown on the same day and it cost significantly less. All of the students were awesome, very attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely loved the work they were doing. I definitely recommend them!

I decided to come here because I didn’t have great dental insurance and I had several cavities. I was told it was a good bit cheaper then the regular dentist. My dentist quoted me $1500 for 2 cavities and I had...well, a lot more then 2 to worry about! I had my dentist email over my X-rays since they were recent and had also had a cleaning done a month prior to going here.My first appointment was basically just them analyzing my teeth and taking notes of each one and what needs done. It was very thorough and I actually learned a few things about my teeth I had never heard from the regular dentist. Things like “this tooth didn’t fully develop, probably from having a high fever as a child” and that I have a sort of rare bone on the roof of my mouth, that if I were to ever need dentures I’d have to have a surgery and have it removed. I thought it was interesting to learn that kinda stuff! They did take another X-ray, different from the kind I am used to having.Second appointment they did some poking on my gums while another student entered in notes into the computer, which wasn’t very fun for any of us. I think I asked what was the purpose (curiosity) and was told it was to check for bone loss. That’s about it for the second appointment.Third appointment, they did a plaque test to show you where you need to brush better followed by a “deep cleaning” on my teeth, which..holy cow. I don’t think I ever want to get my teeth cleaned any other way. My teeth looked and felt so much cleaner then when I get regular cleanings. This is also when I got my estimate for all the work I’d need done. I needed fillings on just about every tooth except for like 3 or 4 and my grand total was only $2800, which medical card would cover $1000 of. So, definitely worth the hour and a half drive to save thousands of dollars.Fourth appointment we finally got started on the fillings! Experience went just like how fillings usually go at a regular dentist. They do have the teacher check their work a few times throughout. Every appointment since has just been working on more fillings and has been as good of an experience as you can have while getting your teeth fixed. My student, Marissa, has been beyond amazing. She is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, personable, and compassionate. I feel totally safe and comfortable in her hands and I trust in her skill completely. It is obvious she has worked her butt off to be where she’s at today, and she is able to confidently explain things to me in a way that I can easily understand. She is, and will be, a great dentist, and I look forward to continuing to work with her.

Never again ! They absolutely butchered my mouth dug and stitched where there was no teeth even in the consultation decided not to . But did at time of surgery my whole face and lips look like i had serious botox and so much pain i cant move anything in my face my bottom lip is still numb after 2 days . This is the second chance ive given them and i do not recommend at all . Its extremely priced for something a local butcher could do!

I went in for a consultation for a wisdom teeth removal. Long story short, I did not go through with the surgery at this location for the reasons below. The rooms were not private at all, I could hear everything going on (conversations word for word) in the rooms next to me. The doctor (or student? I dont remember) did not even look at my x-rays, rather just a printed out version. He wrote my medical history, including current medications, on the back of a piece of paper, and he didnt let me finish listing off my medications and was obviously unsure of what they were (med history is pretty important when undergoing anesthesia if you ask me). Offered narcotics for after the surgery and when I said I did not want them he said youll be fine dont worry. All that had me pretty nervous, but then as I was waiting to be checked out, a woman came in (probably from the ER) with some obvious mouth/jaw/dental pain. She was groaning pretty loudly while she waited. A little off-putting, but again, she was clearly in a lot of pain so whatever. When it was my turn to leave, I could see the receptionist and every single student/employee talking negatively about her. They didnt even try to hide it in front of me! Everyone who passed by the lobby pointed and made a comment to the next person, and the receptionist joined in at times too. I didnt want to embarrass the woman, but I was so close to yelling at them for acting so unprofessionally! And during all of that, the receptionist REFUSED to schedule me during a long break (Im in school), even though I asked multiple times. And its a good thing I didnt go there because my recovery took about 2 full weeks so I would have failed this semester! Very disappointed in a facility run by WVU, I expected better.

Got my tooth pulled April 14th and the student who did it ripped my gums and didnt even stitch me the following week I went back because of how much pain I was in because the student didnt clean it out and there was bone left and today May 18th I pull another piece of bone out and bleeding again! Horrible place because someone higher up doesnt even supervise these students! The pain during the procedure even made me have a seizure!!

Thank you WVU school of Dentistry for making my experience of getting my teeth repaired and taken care of a good one. I am such a sissu when it comes to going to the dentist and I followed through with all of my appointments. I was taken care of with compassion and understanding. I get to keep most of my teeth and I will continue to go there for all of my dental work.

I know that most people think highly of this place and I havent actually been there yet, but so far they are horrible. I love Ruby and all the Dr offices there but the experience Ive had so far with place is very unprofessional. Its now May 5th 2021 and Ive been trying to make an appt with them since the beginning of April. The 1st time I called they said they were booked up for the rest of April and didnt have the schedule for May yet and to call back at the end of April. So I called back April 29th and they supposedly still didnt have the May schedule ONEday before May and still couldnt schedule me. So I tried calling back 2 other times so far since then during the week and during normal business hours and nobody would answer the phone. I desperately need dental work done. This is ridiculous.

You cant ever get them to answer the phone. I am currently trying to call to cancel an appointment and have called 3 times already. Also, Prices are way too high for simple procedures. 200 dollars for filling a cavity? Get out of here with that!

Terrible! The receptionist is rude and nasty. She had my daughter very upset. My daughter had an appointment that she waited months for and we drove over 2 hours. She was told upon arrival that I (her mother) wasnt allowed in with her. She has many medical issues and severe anxiety but because she turned 18 just before the appointment she had to go alone and we didnt get notified prior to arrival that this was the policy. I didnt get any of my questions answered and this was a complete waste of time! Definitely recommend patients go elsewhere for care.

Very good dentists, they are very professional and caring. They did an excellent job on my very complicated extractions. They are also very reasonably priced, the entire procedure cost less than the copay to a normal oral surgeon does and they took my insurance so it cost me even less! I DEFINITELY recommend them!

Made an appointment to get my wisdom teeth removed because they have been causing me excruciating pain, went in to the urgent care dentist to see about them getting removed, and the assistant surgeon told me that they will need removed but cleaned first, so they sent me over to get them cleaned, I then had to wait for 2 hrs before I was seen, and nothing to ease my pain. I am then told after they area is cleaned, they can do nothing about it, even though the surgeon said they could, and I could schedule an appointment to see a consultant about the situation, two months away.. Paid $66 to get my gums violated and made to wait a total of 4 hrs before they informed me they couldnt do anything... So I really wouldnt recommend WVU to anyone.. Go private, may be expensive upfront, but in the long run, is way cheaper than WVU..

On monday at 3pm I had an extraction done. It was a difficult procedure, it required 2 young male dentists whose names I cant remember. They left a bunch of fragments of a broken tooth in the extraction site. I dont know if they used the same gauze that they placed the fragments in and put it back into my mouth or if they just left a bunch of fragments in after they took the tooth out. All I know was that I was driving home and I was adjusting the gauze a bit in my mouth and out tumbles several fragments - one of which took me 2 days to remove out of the gum and blood clot and I didnt want to return out of fear. I have saved those fragments and I am considering legal action because of negligence/incompetence and failure to inform me of these fragments, and not to mention TRAUMA. I tried to return back to the clinic to get help but it was 20 minutes past 5pm. If you have CCTV footage, you may notice a crazy woman running around and screaming for help and crying profusely. I eventually encountered a female employee who helped me find an elderly male dentist who happened to still be there near the evaluation rooms. He was able to help me calm down and provide me an envelope to put the fragments in that I brought with me and advised some hygiene and to come back in a week if the situation worsened. I have heart problems, my file will indicate my blood pressure was extremely high during the procedure. This whole ordeal made me have a nervous breakdown and I came close to passing out. Ever had that nightmare where your teeth crumble and fall out? WELL THIS HAPPENED TO ME IN REAL LIFE. It was extremely surreal. I still cant believe what happened to me. I want answers. Someone better respond to this or contact me ASAP.

All students and doctors were subpar in urgent care. The dentist in the urgent care was not listening to anything I said and was increaslying rude. I was considering coming to them as my regular dentists again before he was rude to me throught the entire interaction. I will now go out of my way to avoid coming here. The only good experience was the tooth extraction!! The endodontist was very professional. He was kind, made sure my mouth didnt hurt at all throughout the entire procedure, and was quick with his work.

I went here quite a few years back to get a ton of work done. The price was right so I thought I would give it a shot. I was paired with a student who really did a good job with the majority of the work. Each time I went was about a 4 hr drive each way. I ended up needing an implant and a resident did a lot of that work, and several years later, its still going strong.

These is a great place to go . They fix whatever is wrong with your teeth and that’s it ! No future appointments unless u want one . No lifetime relationships . Payment is reasonable and affordable for people with no dental insurance . U get there by 8am and wait your turn but it’s usually quick unless u get there late . I broke a molar tooth and lost the filling . They rebuilt my tooth And refilled it and it only cost me less than $200.00 . It took all day But I left with a new molar tooth .

Horrible experience! What was supposed to be a normal extraction 5min and done. Turned into a 3hr thing. Student broke the top of my tooth completely off when trying to pull it. Roots were stuck in my gums. He had to drill and cut. Didnt know how to numb me properly. So I felt most of it. And was screaming and crying. Its been 10 days and Im still not healed at all really.. I went back there 3 days after because I was still really swollen and throbbing pain. They wouldnt give me antibiotics. Went to my primary dr yesterday. And got the antibiotics that I need. Never will I go back to this place.

Dr Kerri Thomas Simpson was very attentive to my being anxious and made the dental experience so much more enjoyable and less stressful. Sure there was pain and discomfort. But, their dentists, and you wouldnt be there if you werent experiencing that in the first place. I only had my teeth cleaned and still have to have an implant done. I would Recommend going for any issues you may be having with your teeth. Everyone have been so welcoming and polite. Going back in 4 weeks for an implant. I expect everything will go has it has. Thanks for the wonderful experience. Mark Mechling

Definitely pay a little extra for a resident to do the work. Some of the students are okay, but some really have no clue. Most of the staff ladies that work there are excellent. However, a few of them really have no clue on how to answer questions over the phone and even worse in person. Please train your staff better especially on the procedures offerred. For the most part, experiences here have been pretty good dealing with wvu dental

Excellent place to have dental work performed by students who have never performed the procedure before. I like signing 100 forms and waiting 8 hours to have one simple filling placed only to hear the dr in charge say it doesn’t have the proper bumps and points and I need to come back for another 6 hours to have it redone by an equally ignorant dentist in training.

I had to get a tooth pulled in Dec of 2016..my experience was so bad with the student that I got, I was in pain for 3 weeks. In Jan of 2017, about a month later, I had to have another one pulled and my experience was so much different. The student I got, his name was Will Black was probably one else of the best dentists Ive ever went to. He was so gentle and kind and if he were to practice in morgantown after he graduates, I would most definitely go to him.

Go to Charleston where they have a few Free Dental & Health Organizations with highly competent dentist, nurses and doctors, unlike WVU which charges you almost as much as a dental office, I think you save around 20% by going to WVU which isnt worth the treatment you receive.
