Fantastic experience with South Beach Dive. They had a wonderful ratio of DMs and staff to divers. I am a solo diver and I was quickly paired with a buddy. I came in from Pennsylvania for a weekend and they were super helpful with pre-dive questions pertaining to Covid-19. I came from the airport to the dive shop and they gave a great recommendation for a cafe nearby for lunch! The two dives I did was Keiths Kanyon Reef and Neptunes Memorial Reed. Both were abundant with aquatic life and the reefs were in good condition (which means great colors for photographs)!

After two months of diving with this incredible dive shop, here are what I saw: Sharks, stingrays, groupers, barracudas, stunning corals, wreck, and underwater statues, etc. They have excellent dives with excellent and highly professional instructors and courses all the way from open water to dive master, as well as many specialties, free diving, and spearfishing. Located right next to the famous Ocean Drive in South Beach, if you are a diver or wanna get certified, dont forget to check it out!

I used South Beach Dive and Surf Center for a recent dive off Key Biscayne. The first date we booked got canceled the morning of due to weather - but luckily my husband and I were staying long enough this week to do a makeup dive. They were on-time opening the shop, super nice and professional and drove us by van to Divers Paradise in Key Biscayne. Very walkable from South Beach hotels if you dont have a car!

I got certified here with the 3 day weekend program. Marco worked hard to make sure I and my classmates had a fun and safe learning experience. It was a positive experience and I cant wait to dive again with my new PADI card.

If u ever even thought of trying scuba this is the place to go. They have a class for beginners to come with and instructor and learn what to do. They then take u out to open ocean and take u on 2 dives (ur instructor stays with u) let me say YOU WANT BENJAMINE he was able to keep my wife from giving up, focused on her breathing and at that crucial point in the ocean when it’s LITERALLY SINK OR SWIM he didn’t let me give up. It Was that crucial moment where if you would’ve let fear keep you from doing it one time I don’t think I would’ve ever tried again but we stay there in the water calm controlling our breath he just kept telling me to breathe and eventually I was able to go under I had the most amazing adventure of my life I will never forget it and I am so grateful for Benjamin not letting me give up and doing such a great job teaching especially being he had such a short period of time to do it again.He gave me some ideas of things I could do in my pool to practice because we will be coming back to get our certificates but I will definitely request Benjamin as a teacher and I recommend highly anybody wanted to try scuba to get been as an instructor he’s patient calm and just naturally very relaxed and he can give instructions clearly

I have worked with a lot of dive shops but never one and impersonal and uncaring as this one. We had a medical reason to cancel our dive ahead of time and called as soon as they opened after we knew we could not dive. The manager initially told me over the phone that he did not care and was not giving me a refund or letting me reschedule the dive. So hoping that he would be more reasonable if we went into the shop, we did so and attempted to explain the reason for canceling and the fact that our training says not to dive under these conditions. We asked not for a refund but to simply reschedule the dive for a later date. We were paying nearly $1000 for 7 people to dive and all he would offer was a $200 credit. I would not recommend anyone work with this shop. Go the keys and work with Florida Keys Dive Center or Islamorada Dive Center. They know how to take care of there divers but in the water and out.

We got certified as a family the weekend before our trip. We signed up online to scuba dive first time and requested a guide. We were fortunate enough to get Jeff and had an amazing experience! The entire crew is top notch!

Overall the dives felt rushed from start to finish. Out of the two boat dives I was only able to get around 39 minutes of dive time at 20ft which is completely ridiculous. Tanks were filled at 3000 psi and 2700 psi and tanks still had 1700 and 1600 psi at the end of the dive. So I basically paid for two half dives. At 16 ft I can easily stay underwater for 1 hr 20 mins and still have 500 to 600 psi left.

Had a great two day experience diving with South Beach Divers Shop. I completed my PADI open water dive certification with them. A fantastic crew that was fun and laid back, while also safe and professional. Highly recommend them!

Had an amazing 3 day experience with Marco as our PADI instructor. saw shark, barracuda, puffer fish, lion fish... just about everything. Marco was extremely thorough and made sure we knew and understood exactly what we were doing and made sure that we were confident in all conditions. built an amazing, trusting relationship with him. Amazing adventure. Would highly recommend working with him.

Went snorkeling on their Key Largo trip from Miami and it was amazing. The staff were super friendly & attentive and brought us out to two locations on Molasses Reef. Saw multiple barracudas, an angel shark, filefish, parrotfish, angelfish, 3 jacks, and a bunch of other fish. Highly recommend the shop and trip!

Professional and focused on safety and diving! Cool places to dive. Captain decides where to go and not he guides... I think that could be coordinated better.Great equipment for your rental.Oh and downtown there to the East is ghetto and bit sketch.

I really appreciated the help we first received from the front desk, he was very responsive and attentive to me and my wife. Because of his kindness we decided to purchase a $300 longboat...when out of nowhere some guy claiming to be the owner rudely told me to but my mask on or I would have to getboutbofcthe shop ... not only to I own my own business, I would never disrespect a client thats was spending 300$ with me either...unfortunately I would not recommend this shop unless your into being treated like a piece of sh_t.

SBD is great, highly recommend. We booked a dive trip with them down to the reefs in John Pennekamp and had a blast. The store staff were all very pleasant and very helpful. They let us borrow a clip we needed for then handle of our dive camera and when I forgot to take my dive knife off of my rented BCD they were nice enough to work with me to get it sent to my home. We will absolutely be booking through them next time were in Miami! The photo is from where our boat launched in key largo.

Very nice and friendly at the store prior to diving. The ride out to Key Largo was fun, bit long but fun anyway, the two guys with us in the van were friendly and kind so that was fine.Not sure though why we have to stop for 30 minutes on the way for lunch....At the dive site it became apparent that we were not diving with South Beach Divers but with Rainbow Divers instead. I had no idea about this until I got there. On the boat itself I felt abandoned, no one told me anything or who I was to dive with. It was a crew member from Rainbow who asked me who my instructor was and he realised I had no clue what was going on and he invited me to tag along with his group for the dive.I had rented a GoPro for the day and had specifically asked about battery life and was told it was fine. Battery died half way through the second dive so I feel I missed out on footage and wasn’t able to capture any post dive moments on the boat either. Back at the store I was just told “that’s GoPro for ya!”.They also failed to accommodate a discount I was informed I would get and which is usual practice. Clearly the guy in the evening was reluctant and unwilling whereas prior to diving It had been mentioned as part of the package. Maybe he just wanted to close up for the night I don’t know...I left with a feeling that prior to diving they were super nice but after the dive they just didn’t seem to care so much anymore. A bit disappointing. However and to be fair the diving was great, the boat was nice and it was a good day out but again that was the site and another company.

This place is awesome and right in the heart of South Beach. They have everthing from paddle boards, snorkel and scuba equipment sales and rentals.

My fiancé and I had such a great experience scuba diving for the very first time with our instructor Joe. We did the key largo trip and it was such a cool thing for us to do that took us out of our comfort zone. We can’t wait to come back!

I would highly recommend anyone to dive with this shop or get any certification - you’ll have the best time!

Absolutely FABULOUS dive shop and guides. Alvarro is the friendliest and most helpful guide Ive had. He alone made the trip 5/5! Everyone at the shop was so courteous and kind. Great experience for my second ever dive. Our Dive Master was Mauricio who i would recommend very highly. Very experienced, calm and trusting. Extensive knowledge of diving, also great taste in music for the drive up to Key Largo and good knowledge of Miami made the drive there and back very enjoyable, too. Would definitely dive again with them in the near future.

I was in Miami for couple days and unfortunately the weather during Christmas was very bad. Windy and unpleasant. Nevertheless I had great time diving with south beach team. Especially dive master Alvaro he is not only the best dive guide I have ever been diving with but also great piece of tourist information. He knows everything about everything. Had a great experience. My class was a father and son duo, a Portuguese woman and myself. I think I lucked out as the group was a good group of people. Bruce was our guide. I found him attentive to questions and professional. As we entered the water off the boat one of my weights fell off. I’m no pro so I had no idea why I was fighting not to roll over. He found the issue promptly and repaired it. I have don’t this a couple of times in the past and will do it again.

Good place to rent a surfboard in the south beach area... in fact I think it’s the only place. The people here are real nice and helpful. Great shop!

Highly recommend for open water dive certification. Arturo was fantastic - extremely knowledgeable, great teacher, and made the whole experience fun, despite bad weather.Dive shop staff was also great - prices were fair, they helped us get outfitted for the certification, and were very friendly.Looking forward to coming back for more dives next time I’m in Miami. My wife and I had a fantastic experience with South Beach Dive and Surf Shop. They provided a very organized and entertaining SCUBA and snorkeling trip to Key Largo. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Indeed, my wife left a tablet computer in the transportation van which they kindly kept for us behind the counter for a few days before we were able to swing by for retrieval. I would very much recommend South Beach Dive and Surf Shop for maritime adventures in Miami!

My husband and I just did the discover scuba and it was amazing!!! We had Mark as our guide and were so glad we did. He took everything very slow for me (I was terrified during the first dive!) and he made us both feel comfortable and kept us extremely safe as we experienced a beautiful reef and saw some amazing underground life!!! It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that Id recommend for everyone! And make sure to ask for Mark as your guide!!!

Probably one of the best experiences in my life. Our instructor Sergio couldnt be any nicer. Great teacher, so knowledgeable and a very beautiful human being. The diving was so fun and he took care of everything. Definitely going back for an open water certification. I highly recommend this place, and if you go there ask to be with Sergio even though im pretty sure the other instructors are great too.

By far the best dive shop I have ever interacted with. They were extremely knowledgeable about the area, gear and really any other underwater matter. Gear was new and clean, dive shop centrally located and fully loaded. Staff was the best part, Joe and Alvarez were on the dive and couldnt have asked for a better experience. They expertly handled people of different levels and languages making sure we were all on the same page before we got in the water. Looking forward to my next trip down to Miami so I can do another dive with them!

Had plans to do a dive out of Key Largo with this shop but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. The guy behind the counter was super nice and accommodating, gave me a nice discount, talked me through all my diving and snorkeling options, and was happy to issue a refund when the trip fell through. All around a good experience and I would be happy to recommend these folks to anyone looking to do some diving in the Miami area.

Great place if you want to go for a first dive. Everyone is very friendly and will teach you as much as possible so that you can enjoy your open ocean dive like youre supposed to. And if youre stressed out like one of my diving buddies, the instructor will be next to you at all times to help you along the way and make you feel safe. Joe was really fun, and I hope to come back soon for an open ocean certification!

These guys really care about whats best for their customers.Even upon walking in my partner and I got a warm welcome. I came in looking to buy a mask with a price range in mind. The guys here walked me through the advantages and disadvantages of everything they had in that range. Theres no commission chases here. They know what theyre talking about and are more than willing to share that knowledge.If you’re in Miami and looking for diving/snorkelling gear this is the spot!

Would highly recommend south beach dive and surf. The staff are brilliant; fun, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. Great advice given to buy some gear and went off diving with them two days in a row. As a rookie diver, I was nervous to take the plunge of diving away from my club in Ireland. From the minute I walked into the shop I felt at ease. I had guides on both days Mauricio and Bruce, they were both fab and very funny, I couldnt have been safer or happier . They explained everything and gave me great advice and I felt so comfortable with them. I really couldnt say enough about everyone. The staff of the shop were incredibly friendly and very well educated about their products. I just needed some really basic masks and snorkels for a cruise, and they found me a great deal that worked for what I needed. I highly recommend this welcoming, knowledgeable shop!

We contacted South Beach Dive an Surf Shop last minute to arrange Scuba certification. They went out of their way to accommodate us. We were very pleasantly surprised. We ended up not taking the certification - due to personal reasons - but are looking forward to work with those guys in the future.

Mauricio was awesome. Everyone was so professional and kind. We tried to go direct to Key Largo but they weren’t taking snorkelers. We were able to snorkel through South Beach and we ended up on the same boat that refused us. Had a great time and saw everything from sharks to lobsters

The people at this dive center have a policy that they do not fill 20+ year old tanks. The one star rating is not about this policy on its own, as I understand safety concerns when filling tanks. The one star rating is the arrogance and fear mongering when mentioning the policy, after they actually filled my tanks from 1991 and 1992, because they did not properly checked them for manufacturer information. My *tanks are all annually inspected and have gone through and passed hydro testing in the last year and a half, which puts actual stress on the material*. They are all after Luxfer bad aluminum years. Just to be clear, they are accepted at hydro facilities and have no recalls on them whatsoever. The industry says they are fine. These people said we do not want a tank to explode on us. Yup, me neither. Thus the testing, etc. I am on top of it, no worries. Its more than ok to have policies that are more conservative, but just say NO, dont just fill them because of your own lack of checking the stamps and then try to school me. Dont make a big deal about it like if we didnt know what we were doing. Just say hey guys, FYI, we wont be able to fill these tanks because of our 20+ years policy. Fear mongering is not the way you keep your employees safe or squeeze money out of local divers. I wont be coming back, and Ill be recommending my friends to stay away from this place, as well as any other with this kind of attitude.UPDATE: upon a close look at my tanks, I realized that an employee from this dive shop took the liberty of writing on my tanks with a Sharpie pen. So, to reiterate, they wrote with permanent marker on valid and inspected tanks to highlight dates that only apply to their own internal policy, and not the industry. I understand taping tags, post-it notes, whatever, but using a permanent marker on valid tanks that are private property is crossing the line. I called back, they recognized me and expressed discontent with this Google review. I told them I have no issues with their policy, but that I did not grant any permission for them to write on my tanks. The person on the phone used the fact that it was not him as an excuse, and that he did not know who in his store had done that. At the end, he apologized for their mistake. Beware of stores like this one. If you have no experience, they will make you believe that you need new equipment, even though your equipment is within industry spec.

If youre looking for a basic no-frills dive at a premium dive price then this is the outfit for you!!I do not want to judge South Beach Dive and Surf too harshly since I should have apparently asked more questions about what was included, but for the price I paid for a two tank dive for two people (about 260.00) I think the write-up should have been clear that it was a Bring your own fruit, Bring your own dive master, Figure out where to go and what to see type of dive. For this price I am accustomed to a more organized dive scenario where there is a dive master who goes over what reefs are going to be visited, and how to get the most out of the dive. This shop expects for you to pay an additional 60.00 for any actual direction in that regard. Secondly the boat experience was zero frills. Basic tap water in a jug and nothing more. They did have a cooler if you brought any food or drinks, but that is all. Following the second dive the box sliced (2)two oranges up to be shared by 18 people. Had this been a $60.00 per person get on the boat and go dive I would be thrilled with what I received. Having paid over 250.00 I feel a little displeased with the service, but not completely unhappy.My advise is to ask for exact details about what is included. Lesson Learned.

My sister and I got our Open Water certifications with Arturo. He is an awesome instructor, really chill and very knowledgable about all aspects of diving - and all of the sea creatures names :). We dived in Key Largo and off Miami beach. The dive shop was relaxed and they have a really cute dog. Highly recommend getting certified here!

Girl Friend and I learned to suba dive here! it was amazing!Ok so here is the story! I always wanted to learn how to scuba dive....having spent my younger years watching Jacques Cousteau movies and having amassed a large collection of red speedos and perfected my fake french accent i figured it was time! So we bought tickets on United....United Airlines where you pay for the privilege of maybe having a ticket that is there and not there at the same time depending on the quantum entanglement theory of falling cats and buttered toast!! and as always United messed up our 0500 flight out so we were a day late...thanks United!...but South Beach saved the day!For a few dollars more we were bumped up from group classes to private classes! we were so happy that they could be so awesome! so one day of pool training....which was in an awesome amazing pool and amazing instruction by our instructor Mauricio was AWESOME!Now here is my advice.....buy a rash guard...those full body ones! not only will it keep you from skinning your knees but makes it more comfortable for you to put your gear on and feel less fat as hell around the hot people of South Beach!Then we went off into the ocean...im saying this in a fake French accent because it sounds more sexy...and oh my god it was awesome! 1) Wear rash guard! again helps you not look extra chunky around the hot sexy people....2) keeps you from getting sun burned 3) Keeps you from rubbing into things! but that said Mauricio was AWESOME! we did our check out dive and it was an amazing experience!Day three...spent the morning trying to convince the GF that she really didnt need a spear gun.....and off we went for day 3 of water fun! everything you learned on day one in the pool and day 2 in the ocean just hit perfectly! we went to a different reef and it was just amazing! These guys know what they are doing and Mauricio was a blast!Words of advice!1) Arrive a day early.....2) Fly into Miami International3) Buy your goggles and fins at home and get into your local pool and try them out for a solid hour. That way if it doesnt fit you can easily return them to your local dive shop.4) if you are buying fins that dont need boots buy sports tape and tape up your toes to help with the rubbing....chafing5) Rash guard....get two sets.....it really helps!6) DO NOT DRINK THE NIGHT BEFORE! That aid you are sucking under water is dry and you will have a hang over and get all angry and you will not laugh at our awesome boyfriends very awesome fake french accent and sponge bob jokes!7) Read and do your homework before you get there...the more calm you are the easier you will learn how to assemble your gear and use it!8) These guys really rock! They know their stuff! its a fun shop and they know their stuff!9) invest in red speedos..if it was good enough for Jacques Cousteau..its good enough for you!10) did you know that the Krusty Krab is a Crab trap?

I have taken both my Open Water class and my Advanced Open Water with them and they are great! All of the staff is really great and I always have a lot of fun on the dive trips! I even had a problem with one of my fins that I purchased and they provided excellent customer service and exchanged them for another pair without any issues. I highly recommend!

Very knowledgeable and capable dive instructor. Despite us showing up late the instructor was able to get everything organized quickly and the schedule went as planned. The instructor was able to keep an eye on everyone and helped when necessary. Would recommend to anyone starting out.

I have a great day with refresher course, sadly we couldnt get to the reef but a great instructor who got the best out of it in the lagoon. The last day i got a surf lesson were i had so much fun. They have a high level of customer service and i really recommend them!

My wife and I both booked the Discover Scuba Diving packages on March 21. Our instructor, Andrew, was very professional and extremely personable. He took us to a nearby pool, where we learned to use the rental gear before going out to our open-water dives. Even though there was a wide range of experience levels in our dive group, Andrew took the time to explain and demonstrate proper mask clearing, regulator recovery, and international underwater hand signals.Once we got out on the water, high waves made us seasick, but we got our gear on and entered the water. Right before we could go underwater on the down line, another instructor from a DIFFERENT scuba diving company ordered my wife to return to the boat, saying that she was taking too long to descend, even though our own instructor had judged that she was safe. We both returned to the boat, without completing our dives. Once everyone else returned to the boat, we prepped for the second dive; because of the rough seas, my wife couldnt equalize her ear pressure properly, and again had to go back to the boat without diving. I descended with the instructor, and completed an enjoyable dive.I highly recommend South Beach Divers, as a dive shop and as a customer-oriented business. Our instructor and the shop manager informed the other dive company of their instructors unprofessionalism, and made amends by giving my wife and I full refunds for our diving packages. I only expected a partial refund, as we did receive much of what we had paid for - pool-based instruction, transportation to and from Key Largo and the dive sites, and one completed dive - and, overall, we had a good experience. This company went above and beyond to give us good customer service; this is especially gratifying, seeing as this dive was on our honeymoon. We will happily re-book with South Beach Divers the next time we visit Miami.

We had an amazing experience here, the entire staff at this place is so helpful and accommodating. We completed our Open Water and Nitrox certification and were coming back to take our Advanced Open Water course within the year, hopefully! We both bought all our equipment while we were down there and because we were traveling across the state, we didnt have room for it in the trunk. John was so helpful and said he would dry it out, pack it up, and send it back for us, after our last dive. My boyfriend and I cant wait to go back!

I got my open water certification here. I felt I had a great training. My instructor Sam McLean was very funny and outgoing which made for a very entertaining class. He was also very serious about the students learning and performing to high standards which was great as well.

Brother-in-law and I went to get our open water diver certificate. Arturo was our instructor, and he did an amazing job! He is the best scuba instructor Ive ever had! Highly recommend for all divers. Ask for Arturo.

I chose South Beach Dive after browsing around a few websites in the area. I took the open water course with them and am very happy with my experience. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and the four open water dives were amazing. Jonathan was my instructor - he was great! I learned a lot and highly recommend this place!

I love south beach divers! They always have the best groups to dive with. The instructors are awesome. The price is good for the location and the diving is awesome!

Hands down the worst managed dive shop in Miami Beach. For context, I have gone diving at shops all over the world and I have worked as a Divemaster myself. As many divers know there is a wide range of professionality out there, but this is the worst. Firstly: False advertisement. They have a shark dive that fails to mention anywhere (not on their site anywhere or the waiver) that they spearfish during the dive, and kill *any* fish in sight just to get the sharks to come. Not only is this is against core PADI principals of ocean conservation, but it is simply false advertisement. Be honest about the service you are offering so that people do not get tricked into a non-refundable trip. The manager refused to have a conversation about refunds or even store credit even though I declined to participate in the dives with the new information, which was only made available after we were on our way to the site. I would have refused to stay on the vessel and refused a ride home, but the instructor with me said they would be able to work something out. If I knew those facts would be used against me by the manager to not get any sort of credit, I would have found my own way home. That is deception. Secondly, they never checked my dive certification. Not only is this dangerous for divers, Divemasters, and instructors, but you cannot be a PADI 5-star resort as they tout and be this negligent. There are dozens of dive shops in Miami, choose another...

I went for open water certificate, it took 3 days.We spent more time in the dive shop waiting, than getting educated.In the shop, they were constantly trying to push us to buy more gear.You cannot rent anything for open water in the shop, so bring your own gear.The instructor was very strict and had no room for people thinking before they answer.The instructor made a girl cry, because she got lost 3 times and went to the surface as you are suppose to do.The last dive was cancelled because of weather, so it was moved to a man made lake, not that fun.It was day by day planning, never knowing when to meetup in the morning or when we were home.We also went out with Rainbow to the sea, the shop does not have its own boat.If I could do it over, I would choose another place.

Went to Miami to get certified as a PADI Open Water Diver and South Beach Divers delivered despite the poor weather.Arturo was on point and a great instructor. The staff, John, Andrew and Bruce were all very nice and accommodating.I would go back to this shop the next time I am in Miami for more diving adventures.

Im a native and business owner of 20 years in Miami Beach.(shout out to South Beach Animal Hospital !) I have bought a watch, wet suit and scuba gear here as well as tank filling service. I couldnt ask for better support. When my watch died after a year (rip curl) John didnt hesitate to offer to send it back to rip curl for repairs, saving me the time and hassle.Excellent customer service. Prices are always going to be higher for brick and mortar stores than the internet but the price is worth it to keep and support a longstanding local family business that cares about their community. When it comes time that you need something locally like expertise and immediate access, youll be glad you didnt cheap out ! Shop locally ! +1 for John. My friend and I booked a dive/snorkeling trip with them to Key Largo. Rainbow Reef was the charter company. The trip went fine but we found out that Rainbow Reef charges quite a bit less to take people out diving and snorkeling. In the future when I dive in Key Largo I will just book directly with Rainbow Reef.

This is the place to go diving in Miami. The best guides, amazing product selection and the staff is such passionate about what they do. You definitely FEEL well at home in this place.

I got so much of my gear here, hard to find a surf shop with true pros, guys who can really help you and recommend you about good equipment, and even helped me on finding a great boat to use for one of my trips. The have a high level of customer service and i really recommend them!

This stupid female dive master thinks its okay to touch and encourage her divers to participate in touching the life underwater. I have been diving for more than 30 years and have never seen such unprofessional behavior. I have always told all my divers to leave the gloves on the boat, no need to touch anything while photographing and enjoying what there is to see. Such a shame that this is what the younger generation thinks is okay. What will be left for their children and grandchildren? This is part of the reason the reefs are in the worst shape ever. Respect the planet as it is the only one we have! If she were my employee I would give her a warning and if it happened again I would fire her @ss!!! QUICK.

Not very organized, our first trip to Miami and we figured we would add scuba diving to our itinerary.We pre paid and took the online course, so that we could save time. They sent us an itinerary via email of the days we start our lessons; we arrive on our first day of lessons and they didnt have us on the schedule for that day. They then told us to come the next day to take the scuba written test, when we went the second day another person told us we couldnt take the test that day, Another day lost.If youve never been to Miami, Traffic in Miami is brutal. So coming and going to the scuba diving store youll need to plan well.I asked for a refund went to another scuba store.

Eric helped my friends and I choose our scuba gear. I checked some online alternatives prior to my visit and the prices they have at the South Beach shop are very reasonable, especially for a business in SoBe. I really liked how Eric explained to us very patiently all aspects of the gear and helped us decide. We got PADI open water certification with Arturo as an instructor. Arturo was the best instructor we could ever had, we were so lucky to have him. Hes very professional and knowledgeable and took good care of every single one of us (and we were a group of 7 guys!). If I go for a deeper PADI course Ill definitely choose Arturo again.

I just want to start off by saying we had the absolute best time our entire trip! We purchased the Discover Scuba since we have never been scuba diving and SouthBeach Divers did not disappoint. The morning of we were running late and our instructor, Auturo was super cool about it. We feel like he made our whole experience! He took us to the pool first to learn basics and then we drove back to the shop to get ready to leave for Key Largo. He stopped at Pollo Tropical for lunch and then we headed to the boat dock where we loaded up and took off. Honestly, Auturo did an an great job guiding us in and out of the water. He made us feel super comfortable, showed us how to work the gear and took awesome pictures for us! We saw nurse sharks, sting ray and a barracuda. I cannot say enough about our instructor and this place! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to try out Scuba Diving. Worth the experience!

You get plenty for your money here. They even provide transportation for a low price.Sam and Bruce were great diving instructors and very friendly and helpful.

Went on speagle grove dive and the boat crew was extremely rude and unprofessional. The employees in the actual dive shop were very helpful and the actual wreck dive itself was great (80ft of vis & diverse wildlife), but the boat crew was so rude that it just ruined the entire trip. You could not pay me to go on another charter with them, complete waste of time and money. We love love loved our experience with South Beach Dive and Surf Shop.We had 4 people doing discover scuba, one certified diver, and a snorkeler. And we did the tour in Key Largo.We rented a GoPro and our scuba guide took over the camera for me. I was so happy because then I could just focus on diving and looking around. Plus, since I wasn’t holding the camera I was in the shots! He got great pics and video of us.Arturo was our guide and he was magnifique. When doing our pool skills test, he let my 9 year old snorkeler participate with the rest of our crew by letting him breathe through his extra regulator. Arturo was a great instructor to work with kids as well. He brought a toy/tool in the pool to help the kids spend more time underwater and take their mind off their gear while playing.Arturo did a great job helping the nervous ones in our group and kept their minds at ease.On our dives we saw: 3 nurse sharks, sea urchins, an octopus, many lobster, a crab, an eel, several barracuda, some old giant gears, tons of coral, many schools of fish.Also, Arturo took us through a few tunnels.Finally, they were very understanding and accommodating of my 5 year old. Although I wanted to pay for her to be a bubble watcher, she could not because they have a policy of no one under 8 on their boat (likely due to insurance reasons). I hired a babysitter in Key Largo ahead of time that met us on the dock. South Beach scuba let us have our daughter with us all morning for the discovery scuba lesson at the store and pool, they let her come along in the van with us to and from Key Largo which saved us $ from having to pay for the sitter for the entire trip.Excellent experience.Also, I accidentally left my belt at the shop which had a hidden compartment with money in it. I had gotten the tip money out of it in front of Joao/John and Arturo. 5 minutes after leaving, Joao called me and told me that I left my fortune behind. It was very nice of him to take care of us.Additionally, although I never met Bruce in person he was very helpful on the phone when booking our tours.

I took up diving while being in Miami for 6 weeks. I found the staff and the owners of the shop really friendly and helpful with everything I needed. For starts they helped me out with finding the right fins, snorkel and mask for me so I was ready for my Open Water Class. After that I did my Advanced Open Water and the specialities Nitrox and Night Diving. All of the time I found my instructors to be extremely professional and I felt completely safe in the water with them by my side.Sometimes we dove off from Miami and other times we went down to Key Largo. Each time the crew on the boats did a briefing off safety procedures and told us about the dive site we were about to enter. Some of the boats offered free cooled drinks, some sliced up a couple off oranges so the divers could get the salty taste off sea water out off their mouths. I really enjoyed all off my dives with the South Beach Divers and are looking forward to dive with them again whenever I return to Miami.

Great shop, great instructors, theyre well trained and friendly. Will keep going there for all my dives and equipment.

Dishonest website, shows trips with extremely good scuba trips that are not offered. They cost 3 to 4 times more. The person who spoke with me by phone seems to give a f*** of my interest on scuba diving.

Ive sent several msgs through email and FB, but never got any responses. How am I supposed to make bookings from overseas.

My friend and I went diving with these guys in January 2014 and it still holds the record of the worst dive weve ever had. Every now and then we talk about it and compare some of our recent dives to that horrible time in Miami. We dived in something called Horse Shoe Reef and one of their boats had broken down so they smacked us together with another group so it was terribly crowded on the boat. There wasnt equippment or even tanks enough for everyone. I had to fight to keep my tank for the second dive. The company decided to go out to sea although it was rough weather and a lot of wawes. The water had only like 5 meters visability and it was only sand bottom and nothing to see. On top of that the divemaster lost one person and we all had to terminate the dive. When up on the boat people threw up everywhere, including in their dustbin. Of which they had very dinstingtivly said that it was forbidden to throw up in. That in itself is very interresting; they know people get seasick all the time (because they go out to sea dispite rough weather?) and instead of not going out to sea on those days or at least buy plastic bags to throw up in, they just take 3 minutes every time to tell everyone that they are not allowed to throw up in their precious dustbin?!! It was a disaster. These people are only wanting peoples money no matter what. Diving is suppose to be a pleasant experience, right?
