Sad to hear the haters. As a student in tough times we came together. Helped me as a soldier. And yes... we caught a wave once in awhile. My go to talk to was Mr. Norris. At my wedding in 77.

The absolute worst. The teachers will not help, guidance counselor told my son he was learning disabled during a meeting, without any testing . He was isolated and humiliated by the people who were supposed to be teaching him and offering support. We will seek alternative schooling.

The school web site is so lame, besides the phone number- where you can call and talk to a student- it is pointless. The Info Just for registering which they robo call past students for- the link you would Think, would be on the front page to Print our own forms to bring in. Maybe some things will change with a new Principal-

I agree with the negative reviews. We reach out to teachers via Edline all the time, which is NEVER updated regularly. It took calling the school and speaking to the guidance counselor to get them to reply to us. The football coach uses the Varsity players in the JV games. The poor JV kids never get to play. I guess it is more important to win a game that nobody will remember than to encourage the children and treat them equally. Any other parents (not children) agree?

Mel High is a great school. The English department is the best in the county, and the athletic program also does very well in most sport, such as the soccer team winning state finals last year. I dont understand why people are getting so mad at this school in the other reviews. Every school has violence, and so what if kids want to be closer to the action by being on the side lines? Also, if you dont want kids to hear the F Word then change what music they listen too (rap isnt the cleanest music lately), and I doubt Fred Keeney would harrass someone. Either way, Mel High is a great school, and should be treated as such.

Bad, Bad, Bad Athletic Director (Fred Kenney). He harassed me after a football game. He also lets small children onto the sidelines of the field during the game. Also, coach Todd Wilson is terrible. We have heard him curse F words to the children because they lost a game. I cannot believe it. This is completely unacceptable adult behavior. As adults, we are supposed to be role models for our kids.
