Florida Prep discharged my daughter 9 days before her first day. She was absolutely devistated. I am now hastily searching to find a school who will take my daughter only 1 week before the school year... Florida Prep was neither professional, nor compassionate to our family.

Florida Preparatory Academy is absolutely horrendous. My friend was enrolled to this school for this upcoming school year and nine days before she was supposed to start at this school, she got a call saying that she wouldnt be a good fit. Everything she had done to get into that school, she had done all by herself. It is absolutely immature and puerile that Florida Preparatory Academy waited right before the start of the school year to tell her this news. Not to mention, she and her family are frantically looking for another (and better) Florida boarding school to take her in before the school year beings. Florida Preparatory Academy is very transparent about their lack of compassion towards their students. After reading the other reviews, I have noticed a trend of greed and insensitivity towards the students and their families. I hope that this academy will do better in the future.

Went to FAA from 1969-1975, when it was military. 6 best years of my life! Melbourne was great, where I learned responsibility. The Melbourne years shaped and cultivated my skills and interest today. Todays non-military school I will reserve my judgement calls. Hope to go down for the next reunion in December 2021 and meet with the staff. Current academic standards are tougher than in my days ( 1970s ).

If you truly love your child, you WILL NOT send them to this awful school. The long term psychological effects are absolutely horrendous. This school is the absolute worst and I hope everyone who’s ever worked here to support this kind of disgustingly inhumane operation can’t bear to look at themselves in the mirror for the rest of their lives.

It is probably the worst school in the country. They only care about money. The students are not supervised and older children room together with younger ones despite what they say. The administration covers for one another. Do NOT place your child in this school. It is not anything they say.

I graduated from the Florida Air Academy in the early 1970s. For me it was the right choice and place. In addition to the academic preparation, it prepared me for the way in life, as well as numerous lifelong friendships. I went on to a career in the military, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels in college, and a follow on career in corporate management. This institution is not for all, as the feckless negative reviews indicate. If you want preparation for a self-sufficient life ahead this is worthy of consideration.

Amazing school for our oldest son. We too are from the northeast, and while the academics may not be as rigorous, the other things he learns there are immeasurable - such as how to be s self starter, empathy, teamwork, and how to be an overall “good person”. Would choose this school again in a heartbeat...

I went here 04-06 This school was a year behind in academics compared to the schooling I receives in New York State.. This was the first issue I encountered.. The routines get old and fast. You pay the price for delinquent screw ups that are placed in the boarding school as well. You have to stand up to the punks, simple as that. If your kids arent tough, forget it. They will be miserable. I did enjoy some of the after school activities like scuba and flight, made great friends, but only spent two years there. Maj. John was the man! He was a great tac officer there. They definitely toughened us up and I learned a lot that I still value today. I would agree that this school is in place to correct troubled adolescents and kids that are solely looking into the navy/air force.

I attended FAA in 1963. Would have graduated in 1964 but chose to go into the Navy before my senior year. At 72 it is difficult to realize how much time has gone by. Have been to two reunions, 45th and 50th. It seemed as if we were all young men again. As I look back and think of how much of an effect FAA had on me over the years I cant thank my parents enough for sending me.The school has changed a great deal over the years, no more football, co ed classes, a lot more science related studies. Also, the physical size of the campus has grown. Cant really speak for the present staff, I just remember the dedicated staff that was there in 1963. Wonderful men. All in all, a great life experience.

What a wonderful five years experience I received from attending this Academy. Florida Air Academy showed me discipline and direction to overcome my challenges. Florida Air Academy provided me the tools of success! FAA and its legacy has done so much for the student athletes. Florida Air Academy has an Alumni Association and their motto is, Lifelong bonds dont end upon graduation. The Alumni Associations purpose is for their Alumni group to return & visit their former alma mater, and continue to cultivate those memories and relationships with both previous alumni and current cadets. The alumni participation includes Drill Competitions during our homecoming events, as well as, fellowship & mentoring of younger cadets through the Career Day Events. All of these restore the sense of pride in the legacy of excellence for which Florida Air Academy is recognized today.Alumni President Class of 1980

I am a graduate of Florida Air Academy, Class President of 1995. I owe everything I am today because of FAA. Its a wonderful place to obtain an invaluable education, learn indispensable leaderships skills with integrity & discipline, as well as making life long friends that I consider family. At Florida Air Academy, I was able to letter in three sports, graduate with a 3.2 GPA and earn my private pilots license at the age of 17. I went on to go to the University of Florida and worked at Wall Streets very own Merrill Lynch, PFS. I still keep in touch with my fellow FAA graduates & staff and look forward to seeing many fine young women and men share the same great experiences that I did. If you want your son or daughter to chase their dreams, accept the challenge of a lifetime and thrive in a positive, soul-building environment, Florida Air Academy is the way to go!

If I could leave no stars I would!!! This school is nothing but an over priced babysitter! This school was recommended to me by a friend attended back when it was Florida Air. I was told how organized and structured they were and how her experience was second to none. My son and I toured the school the summer of 2016 and were very impressed by the possibilities for him. He was very interested in the baseball program and the ROTC program. I spoke with admissions counselors and felt very confident in the decision I was making. He was a weekly boarder and I would pick him up on the weekends. Shortly into his first semester he was already finding ways in which to be lazy and disconnected. I noticed at interim he was falling behind in grades. I spoke with the principal who explained to me for an additional 1000.00 I could start tutoring for him. He would be required to go every day and check in and she would email me weekly with reports. Come to find out at the end of the first nine weeks that he only had to stop and see her. If he told her he had no work he did not have to stay with her. She never emailed me and she was not following along with his teachers to see if he maintained his work. Also I was told how excited they were that he was interested in baseball. I spoke briefly with the baseball coach during our summer visit and that was the last we heard from him. If my son did not make the effort to go find him he was not going to be on the team. I understand that at high school there is a certain amount of responsibility that falls on the child but when you are paying such a high cost in education and he doesnt come home at night to follow up you would think the school would be a little more aware and communicate back with the parents. I quickly withdrew my son from this school at the end of the year seeing as I could find a local babysitter for much cheaper if that was what I was looking for. I refrained from posting a review because I thought maybe my experience was a very rare incident. However now a year later I still have not been able to get my sons transcripts sent to the current school he is enrolled in. We started requesting them in July of 2017. We were told in November there was a balance on his account for a school trip he did not attend and that was why they had not sent them. However we only found this out because his current school called to ask me to help since they still had not received them. Not because Florida Prep let us know. We settled this balance on November 15th. Today is June 5th and his current school has still not received his transcripts. Again I only know because we are talking with his current school to set up his schedule next year. He is going into his junior year of school and cannot even be listed as a junior because the lack of organization at his previous school. When I called this morning to find out yet again why this has not happened I was told they needed to talk with accounting first. As you can imagine I was furious and went back in my records to find my canceled check and to call back. When I called back they stated they did speak to accounting and it would be handled later today. I guess we will see..... Please be very cautious when considering this school and for the future of your child be able to stay on top of them. Myself as a single mother and business owner wish I would have had more time to stay on top of things at the school. There are a lot of great opportunities there but no one to encourage or check in with the kids. If your child is not a born leader he or she may get lost in translation.

I thought I should write a review on here even though I attended this school many years ago in 2006. let me start by saying the school itself is a good school. teachers truly care about the kids and want them to succeed. just make sure your child isnt gay or a lesbian because he or she will be kicked out on the spot. there is nothing in the manual or anything about this type of discrimination.... this is very traumatizing for a child. They dont speak to the student nor explain what is happening they just call the parents and thats it.Its really such a shame because overall it was a good school.

I was a student here and absolutely hated it. I still think about it and how much it scarred me. The school itself was an old hotel and very dirty. And faculty wasnt too bad but definitely not great. But by far the worst part for me was the other students there. Kids already suck and are a holes, but think about the kind of kids parents send to military boarding school. Bad kids. I was constantly bullied and nothing was done about, the tac officer in charge of my dorms throughout the years all had the same suck it up mentality, saying things like if you cant handle this you wouldnt survive in the real military and always comparing my situation to others. But it wasnt the same and i was just a 14 year old kid. I also constantly had my stuff stolen by other kids and nothing was done about it, i had cash stolen. I had my laptop at the time vandalized. They even went as far as to break into my locked locker and steal all of my valuables including my at the time brand new ipod. Even though it was locked in one of the schools own lockers the refused to do anything about it and basically said my personal items were my own responsibility. Im sure if your a die hard Air Force fan and your the one doing thats the bully the school probably isnt that bad. But for me and my experience it was absolutely awful and i hated every minute i was there for 2 years. If it shows to any extent how much i didnt want to be at that school I threatened to commit suicide just so I would be taken seriously enough to be able to leave that hell hole called a school.

I am a parent of a Fla. Air Academy student who is a senior this year. He has attended FAA for 2 yrs. now and really likes it. He was born and reared overseas in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He is an Aramco Brat and an Eagle Scout. He is well traveled and because he grew up in our multicultural environment is color blind, which we love. We sent him to FAA because he needed a better academic and structural environment which thankfully this school provides. He began his boarding school career in 9th grade at another boarding school which will remain nameless (its in Rome, GA), which seems to have a habit of kicking Aramco kids out then keeping their money for fairly minor infractions, I know of 3 including my son. Anyway this is not about them, its about FAA which was recommended to us by some friends. What initially got my attention was their track record of 100% college acceptance, thats very strong! After one semester there our son was excelling both academically and with much higher self esteem and very respectful toward adults. We have visited the campus on several occasions and what I found is a school with great faculty, the president and VP are great people who care about your kids. In fact the president called me personally regarding a misstep my son made last year and they worked together to resolve the problem very favorably. I never received a call from that other schools president, only a young asst. dean. Some boarding schools are looking for reasons to kick kids out so they can keep your money and the next week replace him or her with another fee paying student, this school looks for reasons to keep your kids there and work with them to be successful young adults. You are not going to get the multi-millon dollar endowment funded campus here, but you will get a decent campus and more importantly a darn good faculty which puts your kids welfare first and a great education and college acceptance for your child in a wholesome semi-military environment which the kids take to very quickly.

I have been a student at Florida Air Academy for two years now. Coming here has been one of the best decisions I ever made. Unlike my previous school, the classes here challenge me and, the teachers and faculty encourage me to do my best. The classes are small so I am able to get individual attention and there are numerous opportunities to get help from your teachers or tutors. I am a part of the ROTC program and have learned a lot of responsibility through the military aspect of the school. The boarding facilities are really nice and the Tac officers are always there to help. The weekend Tacs make the weekends great fun with trips to theme parks like Disney and Universal, trips to the beach, and trips to some of Orlandos shopping centers.

Florida Air Academy (FAA) in sunny Melbourne FL was the perfect choice of education for my children. It is great mix of educational, cultural, and leadership opportunities. Having students from all over the nation and world brings rich opportunities to learn new cultures and create friendships that would not be possible from a public school. My son attended FAA for four years and graduated as the sixth squadron commander and salutatorian of his class. He enjoyed the AFJROTC program and was the rocket club commander and Kitty Hawk vice president. He also studied flight through the program that FAA has with Florida Institute of Technology and he received his private pilot’s license. He applied and was accepted to University of Florida, Georgia Institute of Technology, Embry Riddle and Coast Guard Academy. He also received merit-based and Air Force ROTC and Navy ROTC scholarships. He is now attending Embry Riddle studying Aerospace Engineering. The experience gained at FAA has enabled him to be ready for the challenges of college life.My daughter entered Florida Air Academy in seventh grade and is graduating this year. As a middle school student, she was able to take some high school classes to accelerate her schedule to be able to have room for college-level courses and be a teacher’s assistant. She has been very involved in the AFJROTC program and is currently the Operations Squadron Commander. She is also a member of the color guard and drill teams. She has been the rocket club commander and vice president of Kitty Hawk. Her career goal is to serve in the military rehabilitating servicemen. She is planning on studying Physical Therapy and has applied for Air Force ROTC and Army ROTC scholarships. She has applied to Florida Southern College, High Point University, Campbell University, George Mason and UCF. She has already been accepted to Florida Southern with a merit-based scholarship. My children have thrived at Florida Air Academy. The AFJROTC and military structure has taught them to take their endeavors and studies seriously and responsibly. FAA teaches respect and leadership and offers cadets hands-on experience as leaders. The teachers, TAC officers and staff are wonderful and caring. There are sports, clubs, weekend activities, volunteer opportunities and other supervised fun ways for the cadets to interact. Most of the classes and activities have kids of different ages so they can get to know all the students at the school not just their class.Florida Air Academy is the perfect school for my kids. Your children may enjoy and benefit from the unique learning opportunities that only FAA could offer my kids.Greg & Donna Putira
