The Masterpiece School of Furniture is a wonderful place. My boyfriend has been attending the school for a few months now and the knowledge that he has gained and the craftsmanship that he has been able to explore is absolutely amazing! The plans that he has and the actual works of art that he brings home are absolutely beautiful! With this school and the help and support from the amazing staff, my boyfriend pushes himself to work on more intricate pieces with confidence and finesse. It truly is an amazing opportunity that anyone should be more than thankful to be a part of!

My wife bought me a course for my birthday last March... it was awesome! Learned a lot, great equipment and a top notch facility! Ron, my instructor, was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I look forward to taking the How to make a longboard course next!

I have attended this school for the last 4 months. Personally I love it here. We have had some issues with the building leaking around the skylight, but there has been an everlasting effort too have the issue addressed with challenges of being able to find exactly where the leak is coming from. The building also does not have central heating. It can be cold at times, but there are two heaters upstairs and both instructors have brought in heaters for us to use as needed. Most of the time the heaters are unnecessary seeing as it rarely drops below 55 degrees. In the time that I have been at the school I have learned a great amount. I was a rough carpenter before coming here and wanted to tune my fine woodworking skills. James Bowie and Ron Anderson have done a fantastic job of catering to my needs as a student as well as the needs of all of the students that Ive seen attend the program. We have learned all basic joinery. We have learned proper machine safety, as well as all aspects of the machining process. We have learned a lot about the design process and how to pull inspiration from the world around us. So far we have completed a small display cabinet that required us to cut all of our pieces from a single board. This taught us to conserve wood and choose our pieces wisely, as well as all the steps it takes to complete a piece all the way through the finish (which turned out fantastic). We have also done other small projects on the side to teach us how to use the lathe (those courses are taught by Russ, another knowledgeable woodworker who attended the college of the redwoods). This has inspired me to start turning on a regular basis. A long the way Ron Anderson, an incredibly hard working and good hearted man, has helped us make many of our own hand tools (which I use all the time). This has helped us stay on top of our fine handwork, while also teaching us how to use the drill press and grinders to make our own plane blades. Currently we are working on our final projects. Deep in the design process of technical drawings and building models. We work along side James Bowie as he builds his unbelievable pyramid cabinet, a beautiful display of ebony and holly parquetry that will absolutely blow your mind. Being able to work next to someone like him is an honor, and has taught me a lot about the challenges that you meet everyday as a woodworker. I struggle a lot with design and putting things down on paper, but James has been very patient with me (as he always is) and has done a great job of letting me follow my own path to creating my piece, the result of that has been designing something that I never thought could come out of my own mind. This school is not like all others. You wont find an uptight schedule or instructors constantly criticizing you and expecting unrealistic results. We have fun here but we also learn a lot. When its time to get serious, none of us have to be told, we just get to work. I wouldnt prefer it any other way. I would 100% recommend this school to anybody that wants to further their skills and become a well rounded and efficient woodworker. We have a great crew over here and we would love to have you. Come spend some time with us!
