We had our son’s 5th birthday party here over the weekend. Everyone was super helpful, flexible, and great with the kids! All the kids had a blast and all the parents commented on how clean the facility was and how great the activities were. We highly recommend!!

My family and I love it. Both of my boys became more confident and focused while learning martial arts. Classes are both very instructional and fun because kids get to run around and play fun games. This helps them unwind and just be kids. Overall it’s a great balance of learning and fun. My husband and I also enjoy hapkido classes which are accompanied by great atmosphere. I feel very happy about joining mt. Kim !

Our son has done well here. It helps him work on his focus, and in disciplining himself in areas of learning, patience, listening, goal setting etc. The instructors and Master are strict when necessary and for a purpose, but done age appropriately and for the benefit of the student. Our son is very hyper. Since he was been a part of Mountain Kim, he has calmed down. He is more disciplined and more focused. We feel it was one of the best decisions we could have for our son.

Master Jeon and team are incredible with the kids. The perfect balance of toughness and coddling that the kids need. We send two of our kids and will be sending the third as soon as she is old enough. The facility is always clean, and is extremely well appointed with everything they need. Joining the Mountain Kim family is a blessing from the beginning. Its been over 5 years and my kids are still being challenged every day. All three of my boys enjoy class and the staff is attentive and caring.

My son Leo has been going to the no-belt class for a little over month and he really enjoys it. Leo is a bit shy and unsure of himself but with their help and patience he has been learning and is excited to go back every-time. The way they teach is very structured and playful at the same time, which to me is perfect for small kids.

Heavy deadlines and hectic days can get stressful through the week, but this place is quite liberating. Ive always wanted to learn a form of martial arts. I visited different locations but this one was unique. The staff and students are very amicable and welcoming. The instructor is very comprehensive and keeps the class busy & fun from start to end. I did try out the classes before enrolling and instantly became eager to learn more. You will not get bored; I assure you. Signing up for the after school program is the best thing I ever did for my son. He has grown physically and emotionally under Master Jeon. All of the instructors here are really great! My son recently started in the PeeWee class and has a bit of a silly personality, yet the instructors take it in stride and help the kids to focus with positive reinforcement and a smile. Just today I saw another young student with a mid level belt start to cry because she was unable to break a board with a certain style of kick. The instructor gave her the confidence she needed and didnt give up on her. After a couple of more tries, she was able to break the board and cheer. I highly recommend this place if you are interested in learning Taekwondo for yourself or children.

I am very happy with their service. My son has been there all summer and I have seen a significance improvement in his self discipline and focus. He is now a part of their before and after care program so that he can continue to improve.

We just recently started the before/after program after going to MANY different big box/chain day care facilities. Its tough to keep a special needs child busy and engaged, but Master Jeon and company are incredible! My son has changed so much over the past few months, no words can describe it. He is finally interested in making a long term commitment, and is very proud of the accomplishments hes made.IMO the staff deserve a larger facility for everything they do (not sure how they manage to do it all). Its meticulously clean, well laid out, and even has seats for the spectators!What really struck me was the realization that this is not some faceless mega-conglomeration whose sole concern is the bottom line, but a caring family whose true concern is for those they are guiding. There are only five stars available for this review, but Id give them ten stars any day of the week :)

This is our first experience with any martial art including Tae Kwon Do. My 4yr old boy started as a guest in one of the classes (with his 7yr old cousin who was also relatively new).The no belt class where we started had only a few kids which was really beneficial getting a lot of 1-1 attention (2-3 instructors most times). We stayed in the no belt class for close to 6-8 weeks for Leo to be comfortable with the fundamentals.His experience has been totally positive. The instructors have been patient and playful while maintaining a push for him to correct his movements. They make it fun and exciting by switching up the exercises and providing lots of positive reinforcement. Very hands on in helping Leo get to the right form.This has been Leo’s first experience as a student. He’s enjoyed following the dicipline and in a lot of ways has helped me as well. I’d never expected him to respond to me with a “yes sir” but see him enjoying showing respect after experiencing it in the class. He’s also been more aware of his focus and attention (required in class) and has been helpful in other places as well. The tone and speed of the class have been simple and effective in many ways.Overall would recommend this gym to anyone and had been a very positive experience for my 4yr old and myself.

Ive been taking TKD class with my 2 sons at the Mt. Kim MA Spirit in Manassas for several months now. It has been nothing but a great experience for me and my boys. Master Jeon certainly knows what he does and he does it really well. Hes kind to kids but he can also be strict to them, which was what I was looking for. The facility is clean and good size. Im planning to keep taking classes at this place until (or beyond) we all earn black belts!

Master Jeon teaches top level of martial arts. I myself majored in Taekwondo in Korea, and seeing him for about 10 years, i know he is a guy i can trust not only for taekwondo but also as a person. Highly recommended!

I remember going here when I was in 1st and 2nd grade and quit at yellow belt. Too bad I dont go here anymore because I forgot how to defend myself and the constant fights at Metz Middle School.

Mt. Kim has been a great experience for my kids. Master Jeon and his wonderful wife Mrs. Jeon have been great to my kids for 5 years now. I wouldnt even think about bringing them anywhere else. I highly recommend Mt. Kim for kids before and after school care and summer camp is great too! And even for adults who want to get in shape and learn Tae Kwon Do.

I moved down to Manassas almost two years ago. I moved away from family and friends and wanted to find something to get me out of the house. Gyms never worked for me, but I always wanted to try martial arts. So I started to look for a martial arts school. I cared about three things: That classes would accommodate my busy work schedule (Im a High School teacher). That I wouldnt be the only adult to take class. That it would fit into my budget. To my surprise the classes worked perfectly for my schedule/budget, and I was not the only adult in class!Ive been going to Mt. Kim Manassas for the last year and a half and couldnt be happier with my decision to go to this school. As a teacher, I know great teachers when I see them! Master Jeon is an amazing teacher/ role model and great with the kids! Hes patient, funny, and very motivating. He is not afraid to push us beyond our limits and show us that we can do anything we put our minds to. We are family here!If youre looking for your kids to get involved, or if you want to join classes with your kids I would highly recommend to sign up! They also do before/after school program and summer camp for the kids. This is my second family.Master Jeon treats his students as his family and us bigger “kids” are no exception. Not only does he work hard to train and motivate us while he has us in class, but he also cares about our lives outside of tae kwon do. He understands if we are busy or ill, and reminds us to take care of our bodies. He also genuinely wants to make sure the students are listening to their parents, doing their homework, and taking care of their chores when they are home. The discipline he instills in the students is outstanding. The students who come every day are growing into capable assistants, getting more and more responsibilities as they show that they are reliable and have been taught well. He is firm in his teaching and doesn’t tolerate slackers. If you give him your absolute very best, even if there’s someone out there who can do it better, he will continue to push and support you.Mrs. Jung is absolutely amazing for the dojang. She also genuinely cares about the students, making sure that they fulfill responsibilities that they’ve been given The children trust her to help them when help is needed, whether it be a homework problem or an argument with another student. She is the voice of sanity that we all would have been lost without. Thanks to the way she runs the dojang, the facilities are neat and clean and are well taken care of. The back room for the after school and summer camp kids are filled with books and games to occupy the students, when they are not doing their homework or taking class.I am so very glad I have been a part of this family for almost as long as it’s been open. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Mt. Kim Martial Arts Spirit Manassas is by far the best taekwondo facility in the area! My kids and I have been at the school for over three years and we are more than pleased in our experience. Master Jeon is a highly-trained professional martial artist, providing a fun and safe learning environment for both kids and adults. We have attended other local martial arts schools, but I cannot say enough about the exceptional quality of teaching presented here - In comparison to other TKD schools, it’s like night and day!Master Jeon and his staff teach essential and practical life-skills, while instilling the importance of respect. I really love the fact that my kids feel they have become a part of their family and we plan to stay for many years to come.The school is also kept immaculately clean and well-maintained, which unfortunately is not the case in a lot of other facilities. We attend classes 3-4 days a week even though we live over an hour away from school – but it is 100% worth the drive to Mt. Kim Marital Arts Spirit Manassas!

My 4-yo and 7-yo sons have been doing taekwondo here for about 2 years now. I fully entrust Master Jeon with them and am comfortable dropping them off there for class as well as movie nights and such. I admire his patience with the children. I appreciate the structure and consistency Master Jeon provides; we have been elsewhere with multiple instructors and with my kids being so young, it is important for them to have this kind of consistency. He is not running a belt factory; he cares about their taekwondo careers despite their young age. Because of him, I feel like my kids have the potential to do something with the skills they take from here in the future.The facility is clean and taken care of, unlike other facilities in the area that we have frequented. Rates are reasonable. Lots of class schedule options. I highly recommend this place!

Mt Kim Martial Arts in Manassas is a wonderful TKD school. My 6 year old son has been attending the school for about a year and I have been nothing but impressed by their staff, after school program, summer camp program, and day camps. The facility itself is always clean and well organized. Master Jeon is wonderful with the kids. He is able to find balance between teaching the students discipline and respect while also making the classes fun. Mrs. Jeon (the office manager) is always friendly and responsive to my questions. But more importantly, my son really enjoys attending Mt Kim. He always looks forward to seeing his friends, learning new TKD forms, and all the other events the school has to offer such as Movie Nights and tournaments. I also noticed that Mt Kim places a lot of emphasis on learning and education. My son attends the after school program, and every day the students are given a snack, and then expected to complete their homework and do independent reading before their TKD lesson. As a parent, this really helps me out because by the time I pick up my son up after work his homework is done and we can spend the rest of our evening having dinner and relaxing. This is a great school and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The location is convenient and tuition is extremely reasonable considering the value that you and your child get in return.
