They have locked my daughter account do to lack of vaccine records that was expected in the enrollment process before 8/16/21. And since then email several times to there administrative showing she is fully update and when asked for someone to call us back no one does.

Dont waste your time, no response, hard to get in touch with anyone. They give you hard time for residency proof. If you own and not leasing, no utilities on your name, good luck fighting proving your child residency. Your tax, your deed, paper from school district office is not acceptable .

I am very disappointed in how they handled the enrollment process this year. I understand they had a sudden increase in enrollment for this school year, but it is taking such a long time. No preference is given to the siblings of students who already attend the school or students who are in a high risk medical category. This influx in enrollments should have been forseen and they should have planned accordingly for the expected demand.

So far, Im very impresed, the staff very informative and professional and the enrollment process was fast compared with the the terrible experience with HISD in Houston. 4 weeks trying to complete the enrollement process, no one answering the phones nor returning phone calls nor messages and when I finally completed the enrollment process there was no more room for my son, dont even try HISD.

This school has been absolutely great. And a wonderful alternative to the distance learning mess our brick and mortar district was giving. If you are not invested in your child’s education, this program is NOT for you. If you are unable to sit for x amount of hours helping to guide your child. This program is not for you. You are the learning coach, you have a role and very important one in K12. With that being said, being able to see my child grow with this program has been amazing! I don’t think we will be able to go back to brick and mortar once the pandemic is over because he will be to far ahead in learning and B&M will hold him back. I am very grateful to this program and it being available during this crazy time.

This is our first year with K12 so we werent sure what to expect. It was a bit scary in the beginning but once I talked with teachers and ADMIN staff about concerns they helped prepare us for what was to come. The videos that come with enrollment are a MUST watch so you are as prepared as possible. The first week was a bit stressful getting used to the process but at the end of week two we are champs! All we had to do was contact teachers by email and it made it MUCH easier and they are QUICK to respond! My daughter is ADHD and as a teenager is learning to live without medication for her diagnosis. We started the year with at home learning with her brick and mortar school which she did better in than the in room learning. In TWO WEEKS she has retained more information with TVAH than she did in A MONTH at her brick and mortar school and at home learning. This is before we have talked with Special Education Services (for the ADHD). So far she is an A student!! This was the BEST move possible for my daughter. If you want a great education for your kids enroll now!!!

My two middle school kids were enrolled in TVAH the second semester of the school year because I was unhappy with their brick and mortar schools education and things they were learning from otherRegistration process was a little tedious because of our situation. I was the learning coach for both of my children but I was not the legal guardian of one of my children. Since one of my child is a stepchild I needed his father to sign some forms. We needed to tie our information together to show that me and the father were married and my child and his child are living in the same house hold together. There were a couple of times were I had to call the registration specialist because it was not clear what documents would be acceptable. They were able to help me and they were both professional. We got accepted and they were able to startIt was bit of a learning curve for them and myself at first. I did a ton of research before hand because I was the learning coach. I took one week off from work to help them get started. After the first week I went back to work. I put a camera in to check on them while I was at work and we used ALEXA to communicate throughout the day. When they took that first USA test prep, they both got F’s. Then they started thinking it was a big mistake. I reminded them they got F’s at the brick and mortar school and just because it is online it does not mean it’s going to be easy. So I made them study more and prepare more.I was happy I had access to all of their assignments before it had to be done. We studied the assignments ahead of time. When it came time for class connect sessions with the teachers, my children already knew what the teacher was talking about and they were very active in the class rooms.Over time my children’s grades began to rise. As they rose they became more confident. At the end of the semester one had all a’s and the other one had all a’s and one b. They both got some type of end of the year reward.

I could say many wonderful things about homeschooling and this school in particular. Not only do we have religious tolerance but so much more. Just the tip of a big iceberg. I became deathly ill. At 9 my daughter started fighting to save my life. 2 years later I couldnt get her to leave me even though I was miraculously doing much better. This has given her a chance to recover also and she hates cafeteria food. The teachers are so caring. There is no shortage of communication or respect. I like that my daughter isnt at a bus stop in bad weather or concerned with her clothes or superficial things. This has been a blessing for our healing family and we love the opportunity.

And all the other work is piling up because she is having an impossible time navigating this AWFUL system of theirs! Weve been part of a K12 academy in 4 different states for the last 10 years. I have a senior at Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville (TVAH). I absolutely love the virtual academies. This option for education worked so well for us as an active duty military family. The curriculum was seamless and cohesive when the rest of our life was up in the air. Instead of moving from school to school and never know if my kids were going to be ahead or behind, we just transferred to the next K12 school and started the next school year/subject. TVAH is a great option for schooling at home, however the parent must be organized and present (you wouldnt want your childs teacher to leave the classroom in the middle of the day). If you arent, this may not work out so great for you.

Juan Rodriguez is right. This is my daughters second year in this school. Last year was amazing. The staff was responsive, the principle was on top of things, and the students enjoyed learning from their teachers. The teachers are still amazing and theyre the only reason Ive toughed it out to try and complete this year.My daughter did not receive her books this year. After complaining several times to the staff, and yes the principle (I have emails to prove it)...My daughter is still without books and were into second semester.During one of these made up mandatory in person tutorials, twice a month by the way...AND OUR STUDENTS HAVE EXCELLENT GRADES!!!..all the way in Lewisville!!! I was told by one of the parents that her best friend is on the staff at this school and this school has lost a lot of its funding because students are dropping out left and right...so these made up mandatory tutorials is their way to get funding for the school?First of all...the students have excellent grades.Second...this is an online school...if the students have to travel to another city just for tutoring...then why in the world are you an online school? That doesnt say much for your curriculum and abilities as educators. Are you in this for the funding or what? Now the teachers are the best and they make it easy and fun for the kids to learn...We absolutely love the teachers. However, things must be difficult for the teachers too because theyve been leaving and transitioning to other areas.I dont know whos in charge this year...but someone should step in and get things back on track.Until then...Im transferring my daughter.

What a great school with passion and caring teachers. The administrators and staff reach out to students and parents for the success of the students. The technology can have minor issues just like any other school and business but it is corrected immediately. It is a safe environment with children working from home with less distractions from others. This school has all the programs and incentives as any other.

False advertising dose not recommend for reasons such as...School claim: Along with the curriculum, we give you planning and progress tools to help you plan your day, including an electronic calendar with suggested lessons for each day and a detailed outline of the total time required for each lesson.*lessons directly from the calendar when submitted only give errors we could ONLY get them to work after 3 months when discovering submissing only work when submitted directly from the class content section this may not cover lessons that are also meditated to be compleated I have yet to find as Ive been given very little help resloving the shotty system being asked many times to prove via screen shots & video that the error actually occurs even while the admin also got an error as well as having other issue in a recorded live help session. Each error is blamed on our use of the system while claiming the system updates at certain times even though we receive these errors multiple times a day on different days as well as different times. Also note that tech support informed me the system is ran by a 3rd party so there is no fixing any issues.School claim: children in grades K–5 spend about 20–30 percent of the work online. They do much of the work offline—reading books, solving math problems on paper, drawing, and conducting science experiments. Middle school and high school students have more refined reading skills, so instruction and activities involve increased computer use according to educational standards. However, offline work will always be essential.*Im told idel login is the cause of system errors this has never been an issue in our prior two years of enrollment nor should it be an issue as computers are used this year to time stamp logins and to keep attendance how can proper attendance be obtained without leaving the computer running? Wouldnt the computer be idel while the student is reading online information or instructions?*School claim: A personalized education to meet your child’s needs*school, curriculum, and lessons do not change based on each child, children that require more time still have the same times/dates to turn in assignments. Also note that 504/IEPs are not created for the student until the 4th month of school*Work at your own pass.* Used to learning coaches aka parents were able to submitt attendance as the child went now the computer keeps track of how long you work each assinment as well as timestamps your log in so no more working on your own hours or pass. Im constantly sent missing attendance this is the first year (end of 2019) that the computer time stamps logins and quizes and other things are timed to see how long your student spends on each activity if your student spends 2 minitues on a 5 question test you & your student will be chastised for not spending the amount of time the school deems you should be spending per each quiz. As my student with a learning imparment due to health reasons was criticized during what was supposedly a live help session which was recorded for the schools records only and not provided to us for our records. I was also informed Via text that 2 min quizes where the reason for my students failing grades with no absolute ly no acknowledgement that the schools system is faulty not recording saved work or submitting grades or teacher graded assignments therefore my child had no to very few submitted assignments that being the actually reason my child contines to fail even in the 4 month into the school year. Tech support informed me this program is run by a 3rd party therfore not fixable by the actual school the school refuses to acknowledge the faulty program despite numerous requests to fix the issue. Also Ive been told by the school admin that the system updates after school hours causing more errors for submission of work so no more working nights or weekends for children that need that option. Missed school forna doctors appointment and want to make it up in the evening or weekend thats no longer an option due to system updates im told.*

Had to fight tooth and nail to get access to my sons education portal. Administration constantly inactivated my account even though they had a copy of legal documents stating I had legal rights to my sons education records. They couldnt care less that the person who has my son allows him to fall behind in his schoolwork due to negligence. My access to his portal was crucial to ensure I stayed on top of his school progress because the person he was in the care of didnt care and TXVA certainly doesnt care.

This school has been a God send for my teenager who has anxiety. The state certified teachers have gone above and beyond to make him comfortable and theyve met everything in his IEP through the special ed program. I didnt think my son was ever going to graduate high school, but now he is an Honor Roll student and doing well. Teachers and admin genuinely care about their students. Cant speak for when the school was TexVA, this review is for Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville (TVAH). I have had very minor issues with a teacher having to cut class short bc she got kicked off the server or another one who couldnt connect but thats to be expected every once in a while in a virtual school. Teachers promptly emailed the classwork and were available via email for questions so no big deal.

Due to poor test scores and teaching for the last couple years TXVA is now punishing the students by EXPELLING kids in the middle of the school year for missing Saturday school..Parents join k12 for convince because its online so common sense means if you have schooling on a Saturday it would be ONLINE.Not the case the want you to DRIVE 45min to an Hour maybe more depending on where you live.Tammany Olson is the so called Campus Director who talks to you like youre stupid and pretends to agree or understand that it make no sense...TXVA SUCKS!!!!

I have homeschooled my children for most of their lives. When TXVA High School opened up, I enrolled my daughter. She excelled and her teachers were readily available. My daughter would communicate with them via phone calls and yahoo chat. Some even helped her in the middle of the night with assignments and to ease her distress about them. My son, who came down with cancer and then chemo brain due to treatment, needed a different learning environment. He could no longer work in a regular classroom because he was not able to block out background noise and unruly students. I asked him if he would like to try TXVA High School. He was enrolled and excelled. Both were inducted into the National Honor Society and interviewed by NPR (National Public Radio). We enjoyed the monthly field trips and official TXVA meet ups. Both my children made more social connections during their time in TXVA than any other learning environment. My daughter and I enjoyed a 12 day long trip with the TXVA High School art teachers to Europe to see the artwork that my daughter learned about in her courses. It is an experience that we will never forget. None of the teachers gave up on my daughter or son. They could see their potential and brought it to the surface. We love the teachers who worked with my children. I will forever be grateful for them.

As a parent I like this school very much. But...., the student and the parent (learning coach) have to be 100% prepared for this school learning system! It will take strong self discipline for both, the student and the learning coach. The learning coach, depends the age and grade of the student, to prepare the every day lessons! Preparing means; a regular school day preparation and a little more to that. Its just not makimg breafast for your student and put his clothes out, it is way more than that. It means; every days lessons have to be prepared until the student learned how to do it by him or herself. This is,not just a program to sit your child in front of a computer and llet them do it themselfs to figure out. Oh no! This thought needs to leave yoir mind on the first day of school! This school system is very fast going, way ahead of the regular public school system.Example; my son was a student for 5th grade. I was not prepared at all. It was very hard work, and I had to, during the school year, learn myself how thus school system works and what is expected of the learning coach. I learned that the learning coach is acting as a teacher, a mentor, a tutor, a learning aid, a parent etc.If the student reaches higher grades the learning coach has to be prepared to help their child, if needed, with pre algebra, math, English, social studies, science etc. And possible has to use different teaching techniques for the student to understand the school material. Trust me, after the 5th school year my son went back to regular public school. It was tough, hard.My son went into the 6th grade advanced, he already studied all materials in 5th grade. After my son had to be withdrawn after the 7th grade due to bullying, I put my son back into TXVA for 8th Grade. What was I thinking?! Lol. It is harder, more supervision from the learning coach, more work. For my student it is totally exhausting, that is, only the first week! The schoolwork was not fully done, the test were ...., we dont even want to talk about it! It took us the first school week the whole weekend and the 2nd weeks Monday to finish all work including Mondays work. We worked together until up to 11;30 pm every school day, 4 hours on Saturday to learn pre algebra, and on Sunday 3 hours for Englisch (vocabulary, grammar, gum).It is tough, but worth it! For working so hard my student received a reward, a game he wanted, and I had promised to get if he completed fully the first weeks work.Asking my student what he rather prefer, regular public or txva he said that he did learn more with the TXVA and K12 program because the time is there and he isnt rushed from class to class.Do I think this school system is great?! My answer; Yes.
