I have two children who attend South Maui Montessori school. When is in first grade and enter the school last year. During his first month of school maybe three weeks in, he said to me “mom, I like School better than I thought“I think that’s what every parent wants to hear. I was so happy that we found a school he likes going to every day. He loves doing cursive, and multiplication tables, neither of which he would be learning at this age in a public school. My other son is in fourth grade, and has been going to the school since first grade. What I noticed both when he entered first and when he entered the upper classroom and fourth is a huge jump in self-discipline, responsibility, and getting work done.My other son is in fourth grade, and has been going to the school since first grade. When I noticed both when he entered first and when he entered the upper classroom and fourth is a huge jump in self-discipline, responsibility, and getting work done. It’s amazing to see him come right home from school and complete his homework right away. Then in the morning he gets up and pretty promptly finishes his chores. I’m really grateful that the school not only teaches academics, but really contributes to shaping well-rounded people who take responsibility and pride in their work.

We are so happy to choose this school for our 3 yo. In just a few months we are absolutely blown away how much more independent he became. He is excited about going to school every day. Such a warm community! Teachers and staff are very friendly!

The kids have a wonderful day ... the peaceful campus, the garden, the ability to have outdoor classes often, snorkeling and even getting scuba- certified (how great for an 11yr old)! The materials kids use are both timeless and modern, the teachers and staff are devoted. Kids learn to pursue their passions, while managing their time and learning basics like real-life skills, organization, and becoming creative and positive people.

My 3 year old son loves his school. He’s been in daycare since he was 9 months old and drop offs have always been so hard. Since starting at Montessori drop offs are easy. He runs to show me how fast he can go on the monkey bars. When he gets home, he sings to me while he shows me all the hand movements that go along with the songs. He tells me about the puzzles he put together that day. He has gymnastics at the school every Wednesday through Maui Tumblers and asks me if he can go again and again and again. My boyfriends son just started here as well. Hearing what the teachers have to say about their days and how invested they are during/for their transition... it’s been such a great family experience. I am so pleased to have our boys here!

My daughter loves this school. She has grown so much and enjoys going to school everyday. The gardening and music programs really stand out. We can see all the skills she is learning translate to her independence at home.

My three kids LOVE South Maui Montessori! Their years spent learning in Primary and Lower Elementary gave them a foundation for success in education and in life! We are huge fans of the school! Sending our children here was the best decision weve ever made!

Both of my children attend MHOK Montessori. My son started 3 years ago and this is my daughters first year. We have watched my son progress in all areas of academics as well as with his confidence and willingness to learn. The Primary program has been super, we have enjoyed watching our children grow as independent people. The teachers and the staff all have a vested interest in the growth and development of each child. It is so great to have a place where we not only trust everyone but know that our children will thrive. I highly recommend this school.

Fantastic School. Warm community. I have three girls at the school in every classroom: primary, lower elementary and upper elementary. The academics are strong. The school offers a unique Marine Biology program where the students explore the ocean through snorkel and scuba. I love Montessori Hale o Keiki.

MHOK used to be such a wonderful place, but not anymore. Upper and Lower El will be closed, teachers are quitting and students are leaving every week. This is truly a failure from the top down. There is no money to hire an experienced Head of School and the acting Administrator has no experience in education or management. If something doesnt change MHOK may be closed soon.

I cant say enough good things about this school. I live on Maui because I want to invest in my family and our time together. We found this school when our son was 3 years old. For us, our immediate decision was based on how incredibly caring and vested the primary teachers-Miss Eva and Miss Ashli are. To leave our child in their care was a major decision for us. Now that our son is in his 3rd year in the primary class, and our daughter is in her 1st, we completely value the Montessori education that is bestowed upon them. Originally, we were not fully aware of this style of curriculum and have been able to witness so much growth in all areas of our childrens well being. Everything from their intellect, their confidence and their willingness to participate. My children love to go to MHOK. Kristin and the entire staff share in the passion, development and future of the students & school. MHOK creates a true Ohana atmosphere and embodies the reason I live on Maui.

My daughter was attending another Kihei Preschool previously. She had a wonderful teacher that she loved but she was constantly catching viruses had a year round runny nose and cough. She never was excited about school and I just figured that’s just how it is. After getting sick every few weeks I finally said enough is enough something isn’t right. We pulled her out and enrolled her into Montessori Hale O Keiki. After visiting and observing the classroom I knew it was the right thing to do. I loved the Montessori way of teaching all the hands on activities would really engage my child. A smaller more intimate classroom size where my child would get the attention she needs. They also had many financial aid and scholarships accepted and available which plays a big factor in deciding which preschool you can afford. We applied for everything we could and it helped tremendously with tuition!Since being enrolled here my daughter has been gloriously healthy not having to use her asthma pump once! To a mother who has dealt with a constantly sick child this is priceless. She is exited everyday to go to school and tells me she loves her school. No more crying at the door at drop offs. As a parent what I love most about Montessori Hale O Keiki is the strong communication between teachers/staff and parents. I can easily e-mail the teachers and or administrator followed by a quick response or leave a note at drop off or pick up on the parent notes.Having a child that is happy and healthy that loves going to school is worth more than anything to me as a parent. I strongly recommend Montessori Hale O Keiki if you feel the same.

The county of Maui is doing roadwork on kulanihakoi and has out signs up saying to park in the school parking lot. Even the school themselves have a sign that says to park there while roadwork is happening. Yet the school still harrases people with putting toe signs on peoples vehicles. Which is it?! Park there or dont park there?! Do you have sins saying to park there or do you not have signs to park there? I will answer for you; yes you do have signs saying to park there while construction is happening on kulanihakoi street. Quite harrasing people!
