My time at AOWJJ has been nothing short of incredible and life changing! The community at this school is very welcoming, with great coaches and students, and of course Professor Art is a phenomenal teacher! He truly cares for every one of his students, and anyone who walks through the door who want to invest in themselves and become better are given the utmost attention and care. I have gained many friends and training partners through the school, and it has boosted my confidence on the mat and in life. The school is a very clean facility, with lots of great equipment available for all aspects of fitness, including a really fun strike fit class. Be prepared to work hard and learn a lot! The instructor Arthur is a very well trained black belt and is super good with kids and adults. He has one of the cleanest facilities I’ve been to and he has helped me win many medals in a short amount of time training with him.

My son has been attending Art of War studio for 6 + months now and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. They have multi-class times that are very flexible and can work with busy families schedules.My son started BJJ this year having very little knowledge of the sport- in a few months he has won over 6 gold medals in multiple state matches and a sword all while having the support of His coaches on the side of the mat cheering him on! My son could not have experience this level of skill and talent with out the help, coaching and direction of of Art, Amos and the rest of the staff at Art of war.

All the coaches are very good with the kids and its a chill spot. They have classes for humans ages 4+ and thats nice. I wish i wouldve come pre-pandemic. Wouldve probably been going myself. I still might. We shall see.

I love coming to class here. It’s an amazing community and family environment where you never need to worry about whether you’ll fit in or not, whether they’ll respect you or not, or any other problems you may have at another gym. I had zero experience in martial arts before coming so I asked around and literally EVERY person had only good things to say about Art of War Jiu Jitsu. My 11 year old daughter asked to switched from dance to a combat sport specifically to compete in grappling/wrestling. I was aware that AOW had a great reputation and we stopped in for a class. We arrived early and a student was having a birthday celebration before the days classes began. A parent and Coach Mason greeted us and my daughter was immediately recruited into the birthday party, cake included. We stayed for two classes both of which were very professional while also keeping the attention of the young students with a fun fast passed format. I spoke to my daughter and we agreed the search was over, that’s her gym now. The staff, students and parents have created an amazing environment to learn martial arts. I highly recommend this gym for anyone at any stage of their martial arts journey!

Art of War JiuJitsu is the 99th JiuJitsu school that I have visited in over 6 years of training and traveling. If I lived in Jacksonville, this would be the place that I’d make my home school. The instructor Art is incredibly knowledgeable and teaches a great class that is just really fun to be a part of. Everyone there has what you hope to find at a school, friendly and rolls you at the pace for your skill level or what you request. I also really like their fundamentals program that lets new practitioners train at their pace in a comfortable environment.I’d highly recommend them to a beginner or experienced competitor looking to get good training in.

This place is amazing! It is great for those who may be just starting out, because they have fundamentals classes every day of the week (as well as advanced, of course). The classes feature multiple instructors, and Coach Art is aware of his students skill levels, so he does an awesome job pairing newer students with the more experienced ones. About those more experienced ones: they are so friendly, helpful and encouraging! Art of War also has an excellent kids program, and everyone is so GREAT with the kids. His facility is immaculate, and the curriculum is taught so that all levels can understand and utilize based on their rank. I have trained in martial arts for almost 2 years now, I switched over to AOW when I moved and have felt welcomed since the first time stepping on the mats. I have been going to this school weekly since I started. The coaches and students are great people all around. You learn Jiu Jitsu in a way that really helps you excel. The higher belts want to help and professor Art teaches in a way that allows you to pick up the techniques fairly quick. Best jiu-jitsu in Jacksonville/orange park and surrounding areas.

Just recently started going to this gym. My girlfriend and I had looked around for awhile before making a selection. Definitely feel like we chose right. Everyone there has been awesome from the beginning. Its a workout and a blast. The instructors are great and do an amazing job at walking you through the techniques and the how and why you use them.

Awesome establishment, family friendly and all around great atmosphere and coaching. My kids and husband are involved and enjoy it immensely. I am active duty and plan on joining them as well as soon as my schedule lightens up. What I like is the discipline and fun my children experience here and how its about community, helping each other to learn the moves and have fun in the process. I have nothing but kind words!

My son was apprehensive about attending a show & teach session by let me tell you it was worth it. He instantly had a smile with the instructors as they taught the course. He loved the instant feedback and correction on the moves and felt like one of the team instantly. The instructors are great and joke and play with the kids simultaneously providing instruction and discipline. I signed my child up for the monthly program instantly.

The quality of instruction could not be better. The atmosphere is excellent. The people make the gym feel like home. The Strike Fit classes helped me lose stubborn belly fat and love handles, while teaching me the art of striking. After nine years in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world, I would recommend this school to anyone looking to start or to continue training. I wish there was a way to give more stars.

My 4 year old takes classes here and loves it. Art is fantastic with the kids. I researched what to look for and look out for in a kids BJJ class/ school. I visited several schools local to me in Jacksonville With little man. I happily enrolled my him in AOWJJ. They hit all the marks with a good sized clean gym, great class sizes with plenty of kids his size to learn with, and the coaches are great at getting the kids comfortable. With two coaches and usually 2 older students helping keep the kids focused and the belts tied it’s a great atmosphere. Makes me want to train again. PLUS They do 3hr. drop off parents night every so often..

I recently started taking adult BJJ at Art of War Jiu Jitsu. The coaches and team are so friendly and welcoming. The coaches have so much knowledge and patience. I have several orthopedic issues and Art, the coach/owner, has extensive experience dealing with injuries. It was refreshing to speak with someone who knew exactly what my problems were and how to deal with them, so I could not only remain safe, but train. He didn’t yes me to death to get my money, he asked me questions like my doctor does on my symptoms and medical history and then determined if it was a good fit. If I can’t do something, we find something else. This is honestly the best decision I’ve made for my health and I am already feeling better. Im not going to lie, it’s hard work, but the hardest part was showing up for the first class.

Art of War Jiu Jitsu is a great place for anyone of all ages who want to learn not only the martial art but also integrity and leadership. I looked them up on here, I was contacted pretty fast. Amos answered all my questions and made me feel like I was joining a family not a business. They have gone above and beyond in the 24hrs since I contacted them. Art (owner) and Amos welcomed my son to class that night with no charge. My son absolutely love the class. Class was direct and straightforward, the instructor (Art) focused on the body positioning and gross mechanics with a start and end point. He was very perceptive in noticing which cues worked specifically for different individuals, and took the time to explain his thought process and objectives for the general position and specific situation in a way someone from a different background could understand, absorb, and integrate.

My 2 sons and I have been here just for about 5/6 months now but it feels much longer. I have trained at other gyms but I absolutely love this gym! From the family atmosphere with truly awesome people to the best coaches around! Coach Art has an easy to learn curriculum for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you are old out of shape have past injuries or just feel “it’s not for me” I encourage you to come here and try it. We are getting new members all the time from all walks of life and as I said it feels like a new family and I’m sure you would fit right in too!

I have been going here for a month now and it has been outstanding. I am brand new to Jiu Jitsu, I tried going to a few different clubs in the area but I kept running into similar problems. Most clubs wanted me to commit to a year long membership plan and pay it all forward. On top of that the class times were not the easiest to make and if my week schedule didnt line up I would miss the class entirely. Art of War Jiu Jitsu is a month to month payment plan with no contract, and classes are 7 days a week with morning or evening classes making it easy to make it to training if my work schedule changes. On top of that: everyone one from Black belts down have been extremely friendly and helpful to me and from my first class I feel like a part of a family rather than just a member who pays club fees.

These guys are a true family. Even with all the craziness going on right now everyone still finds time to check on one another. If you are looking for a great instructor and a school with a true family atmosphere than Art of War is the place for you.

Fantastic school with friendly students and instructors, i recently moved from out of state and immediately felt at home training here, Andrew and Arthur have been very helpful and really know their stuff! Me and my kids have been attending this school for a while now. I am 40 and they are 15 and 8. Classes are fun and we get a great workout in. Instructers are very knowledgeable and answer any questions you have no matter how small. I have been to a few schools over the years and this is one of my favorites. In my experience I would say that AOWJJ is by far the best and most personal martial arts setting I’ve set foot in. I contacted Art of War back in October and someone reached out to me right away. They kept in contact with me every couple of weeks asking me to drop in, and I blew them off over and over again. I’ve had such an amazing experience training here!! The atmosphere is fun, very welcoming, and relaxing! Although the training is intense, it is worth going back again and again. Being more of the non-confrontational, hide under the desk type of person I can say AOWJJ has helped develop confidence and better understanding of my own body. When i first started I was only good at falling and getting water breaks in but now I am ready to roll, learn, and get a good train in. I train in Vegas, it was my first time here in Jax. Found this gem nearby, called Mr. Arthur; it was my lucky day when he answered. The whole team welcomed me into their family right away. Ive only been training for 11 months when I came in; seen the inside of 4 different gyms (due to travel), so I kinda know what a good gym is like. Oh my was I blown away from the structure of his courses, not only in the striking game but the grappling aspect as well. Every minute was as important as the last. Technique covered was interesting and very effective. The whole class will engage you mentally and physically. I could go on all day, lets just cut it short....Mr. Arthurs knowledge, professionalism, demeanor, hospitality and best interest for his students are the key things you could find here. If youre new to the sport, relax and come in, this is definitely the place to help that newbie anxiety wash away. If youre a veteran come in and have some fun. I couldnt be more happy and thankful to find a home away from home to spend quality time. Osssss!

I have opportunities to train at many gyms. This one is definitely one my favorite gym. I drive 30 minutes to get to this gym because they have strike fit and gi and no gi class plus in it is in AC building. The head instructor Art is super cool. He follows a plan and he is super detail. They have classes every day.

These guys are awesome! Im really thrilled that I found a place that my kid can comfortably train and not feel awkward when she walks in. She attended her second session tonight and couldnt quit talking about how much fun she had. So far we have had the pleasure of meeting Art, Andrew, and Amos; all of whom have been great, patient, and understanding. For me, its not about the flashing lights, bells or whistles. Its practically. As soon as I walked in, I was having flashbacks of my old dojo and I knew I found a pretty sweet spot with some incredible people.I hope the passion these guys have for training never ends. I look forward to meeting the rest of the group and possibly joining myself when the time is right.

I am asked all the time if I think Jiu Jitsu is appropriate for kids : “doesn’t it teach them how to fight, make them more aggressive, and possibly turning them into bullies”? Well nothing could be further from the truth. The 1st thing our son was taught was you don’t speak of Jujitsu or do any techniques unless Coach is watching!!!My son has been training under Art and his coaching staff for a little over a year now. At 7 years old my son is learning the ART of DEFENSE, respect, discipline, patients, focus, sportsmanship and soooooo much MORE!When we started my son was having issues with focusing in school, respecting others personal space, physical outbursts and over all just being a wild little boy 🤪. He is a different child today... and we owe a lot of that to Coach Art and the things he learns daily at Jujitsu.With all of the craziness of the country shutting down, my husband and I were worried about our son running out of activities to do! We are not currently allowed to visit the gym so The AoW Coach(s) have virtually brought the gym to us. 5 days a week we receive a video msg from one of our coaches... challenging our son and his classmates to a new physical routine and a household chore. Our son has never asked to fold a towel before in his life and now that he knows Coach Art is watching he is asking for his chores daily....We are truly thankful for our BJJ family 🤙🏼

The AOWJJ dojo is a curriculum based Jiu Jitsu school that encompasses both sport and self defense principles for students to embrace. The atmosphere is always friendly with a strong emphasis on training safely, my experience has been edifying and enjoyable.Randall Snow.
