For the record, this is not a cooking class. This is a cooking demo where you get to eat the finished product. I brought my daughter, who at the time, was 11. The girls at the table next to us were clearly just in it for the wine. They were loud, obnoxious and one girl got so drunk she started throwing up at the table. The food was good, but the evening was disappointing.

To the point:My black husband and my black self were seated in the rear of the class by Ted when there was a blatantly obvious open table directly in front of us. We were on time and waited patiently for the class to begin. Just before Jason began two white couples entered and were seated in the front of the class. My husband & I were the only black couple in the class & being seated where we were, we stuck out like a sore thumb even the more. This is our 3rd experience at this particular school in Mandarin & we have had it! We love learning about the food & wines prepared & shared. However, this was our last time patronizing the school as the obvious issue of the complexion of our skin & our ethnicity seems to be a bother for some of the presenters/employees.Jason, however, does a very good job presenting & making all feel welcomed & a part of the class.

Okay, so I randomly stumbled across a pamphlet at the YMCA regarding Publix Aprons Cooking School. I honestly thought this experience would be a typical Publix Apron meal, but I was pleasantly surprised. The location of the cooking school is at the Publix on San Jose Blvd. I went in at about 11:45am to get seated. I was told by the customer service that the cooking school was near the pharmacy of the store. When I walked over to the cooking school, my jaw dropped. They actually have a cooking school with real chefs. It felt like I had left a grocery store and entered a nice restaurant with a personal chef. The ambiance was so nice. They had jazz playing in the background and they offered mimosas. I was in ahh. How did I not know about this?!?Chef Tony was amazing. He and his team served a beautiful four course brunch to me and one other participant. The food was so tasty and beautifully presented. This would be an ideal date.I also learned about a ton of other cooking demonstrations and hands on activities that they offer each week. They also have programs for kids as well. The schedule for the cooking classes and demonstrations are normally located in the Aprons demonstration areas in the stores of Publix. I guess I never paid attention because Im too busy trying to eat the samples. The cost of the classes do range. The Jazz brunch I went too was $40, but it was so worth it.I think I was told that there are about 12 Publix with the cooking school, but Jacksonville only has one location. The cooking school caters and host private parties, weddings, baby showers, and etc. This info was great and Im excited to tell others about it. This was truly a gem. Way to end the weekend.

My husband and I had a great experience with Aprons Event Planning! We did a cake tasting (complimentary) before we ordered our wedding cake, and we were able to test out combinations and discuss options with the staff who assisted us. They were also able to transfer our order to a Publix closer to our venue. My only disappointment was in the final payment - we were told that we could place a deposit down and then pay for the cake 24 hours before the order was to be picked up, but instead we were forced to pay the entire balance 24 hours after ordering. If I didnt trust Publix as much as I do, we wouldnt have gone ahead with the order at all. Other than that, it was great!

Shout-out to Chef Ted and Chef Josh for a great job teaching how to cook several recipes for a tasty dinner. Very friendly and great tips from the basics of knife work to improving flavors. Great pre-Valentines day activity, will definitely be returning!

It was great! Thank you Chef Josh and Chef Briana! My husband and I decided to make ourselves get out and do something different, and we got so much out of it! We did a hands on class 6-9 with different preparation of eggs. We learned soooo much ... how to use the knife properly how to chop onions herbs, peppers, cilantro, parsley, chives how to make an Irish scotch egg (boiled egg wrapped in sausage, flour, bread crumbs and fried), german pancakes, potato pancakes Latkes, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, cook and add chorizo, the best way to separate the yolks, how to properly boil eggs then chill them quickly so theyre easy to peel, how to make Creme Brûlée, how to make syrup for the big puffed german pancake, how to season all the foods with lime and herbs and add color with chopped peppers. and they gave us wine and beer selections to drink with our amazing meal & we had plenty to take home. It was packed with cooking lessons in such a fun way. It was well worth the money!!! We want to do some more when we can.

I visted the Publix in the Target Shopping Center today. The Cashier-Brittany is the worst cashier I have ever experienced at a Publix Grocery Store. She was slower than a sloth. She was scanning the groceries at a turtles pace and would stop after 1 or two items to talk to the bagger about how blue and green equal teal. (Really?--Who cares.) She clearly is not a multi-tasker. Then she proceeded to scan another item or two-stop again- and trash talk Walmart. I think Brittany needs to find another place in the company...Cashiering is NOT for slow, trash talking people! New flash--Customers want to get in and out as quickly as possible and be helped by someone with a smile.
