Sadly this school is only Catholic by name. I experienced on more than one occasion the obnoxious behavior exercised by the school’s coaches; no wonder the students are just as rude and disrespectful. I never imagined a Catholic school would condone such behavior.

After having two encounters with this school, I have to share that I am very disappointed with the level of disrespect they showed towards an opposing team. From their coaches, players, cheerleaders, and parents, I witnessed behaviors that were embarrassing coming from a Catholic school. I would not recommend this school.

I attended this school and at the time I faced a number of teachers that I was not fond of because of the way they decided to handle the classroom and treat the students. The only positive thing that I could say about this school is that there is a great community when it comes to other students and I have made friends that I will know for years to come.

Many teachers not credentialed, and it is obvious by their Teaching. School website says classrooms are staffed by Credentialed teachers. Please go to ctc.ca.gov and click on Search for a public educator. Type in the last and first name of the teacher in question and it will list their teaching credentials, if they have any. We’ve had to move our children to different states several times due to my husband’s career; SSJ has been -hands-down- the most welcoming school we’ve ever attended as the new family in town! We feel so lucky to have found this school for our boys! Go Dolphins!

My family loves SSJ! My children are in a safe environment where they can spend their time focusing on their faith and academics. The new principal is absolutely amazing! The extra curricular activities and small class sizes make this school stand out.

SSJ is the perfect balance of academics and faith for our family. There is no better feeling than your child coming home, and volunteering bible stories and prayers they learned in religion. I find all academics to be excellent, with great resources to use at home. Progress reporting to parents, art, music and P.E... the intimate class sizes, and the kindness shared between ages and grades is phenomenal. This community is tight-knit, and also exceptionally welcoming. So happy to have our children attend this academic institution!

Do not believe any of the fake positive reviews. It’s all the marketing lady and few parents who are trying to suck up to the new abnoxious principal. Look at the posting dates and you’ll figure it out for yourself. This school is more than horrible. The priest Daniel is questionable. The new principal is extremely unprofessional. There are few families that run the school whose kids are untouchable. The rest of the students are treated poorly and even targeted by some of the teachers. It’s not worth the money. Your kids will learn more going to a public school.

When we moved to Huntington Beach 2 years ago, we placed our oldest son in the public schools, but pulled him out after one week. We have always supported our public schools and wanted our son to have the diversified experience. However, we realized that the pure number of children in the school was overwhelming for him and he was not getting the personalized attention we desired. We heard great things about SSJ from other parents and decided to make the switch. We couldn’t be happier and after a couple weeks we realized that we made the right choice for our son and family. We now have all three of our boys attending this wonderful school. The school’s emphasis on character, core values and education will prepare our sons for what ever challenges they will face.

The school is great. The classes are small and the children get additional attention that they need to thrive. They are updating the curriculum and the technology. They recently updated the library. Many of the bad apples have been removed from the school. They are adding additional after school activities for the children. The school is changing the curriculum for the middle schoolers to compete with the other offerings of surrounding schools. The discipline is great. Great family atmosphere and many of the parents are close to one another. The tuition is fair for the area as other schools charge much more. Overall my wife and I are very pleased. If you have a young child and are looking for a school to send them to, take a look at SSJ. You will be impressed.

The elementary experience was good and provided a nurturing environment. Middle School was a disappointment. A narrow band of course offerings, faculty that are ill prepared for a technology enabled classroom, a focus on discipline that is antiquated and an excuse for not investing in the development of a diverse student body compromise real learning. There is an enormous amount of labeling of students early in their school experience that preconditions positive learning outcomes and valuable self esteem as students enter their preteen years. The administration and principal in particular would do well to benchmark school results (academic, experience and culture) with comparable learning offerings.

This is a great Church and School. Our three children attended Pre-K through 8th grade, and went on to Peer Ministry in High School. The new Principal Dr. OBannion brings new energy and ideas to an already bright place.

My daughter is graduating this year after 10 years at SSJ. While no school can be perfect, SSJ has hit all the most important checkmarks for us and I know we made the right decision to invest in our kids’ education, moral and Catholic development. We have had the benefit of a loving community of teachers, kind friends and parents looking out for each other’s kids. Community is first for us and she is graduating with a class full of peers that feel more like family.

My wife and I started our child in public school and then after three challenging years we moved her to SSJ. The public schools near us have become very impacted. In order for the school to make its budget work they were doing many combo classes (ie 1/2 1st grade and 1/2 2nd grade, etc) which reduced the learning time on age appropriate subject matter. Coupled with the common core curriculum, it was apparent that we needed to make a change. That was two years ago and man what a difference! SSJ offers a robust curriculum of the three Rs along with foreign language, music, art, and technology. Imagine my surprise when my third grader started doing Power Point presentations! The school also worked with my child one-on-one to get caught up with the rest of the class. Speaking of class, we went from a student teacher ratio of 32-1 to 20-1! Starting in the 5th grade SSJ gives its students Chromebooks to use at school and at home.Needless to say, we are very grateful for the staff at SSJ. This was the best move to make sure our child is getting the best education possible and I encourage you to check it out for yourself.
