They don’t know what’s going on in the classroom to fine a complaint you have to go through the office can’t speak to the principal. I took my daughter out she got accepted to another school and they REFUSE to give me any of her supplies even tho she just started and I’m sure they have it. My daughter said her teacher was always keeping her from recess and telling them they need to keep her happy. She’s in kindergarten they shouldn’t have to keep a teacher happy. They also had a sub and the sub was showing the kids cameras in her house. That’s crazy kids should be learning now worried about what’s going on at someone’s home. Be careful they seem great on the outside but they have absolutely no communication going on. They also do not do background checks on anyone. So you can only imagine who is around your children for any events. With you sending your kids to school you want them to be safe and with anyone being able to be around your kids you never know what could happen. Be very careful with them they seem so nice till you voice your opinion and all of a sudden everything changes and your treated poorly.

I made one of the best decisions of my life (and my children’s lives) when I enrolled them at Beta Academy. Both of my scholars were academically behind due to lower educational standards in the public education system. They hated going to school, everyday was a struggle. When we made the transition, it was smooth. We were given all the tools for my children to succeed - communication with the teachers was easy and fast ( by the end of the work day or the next day during their prep time), personal expectations were higher (and they were fully aware), the scholars are held accountable for their actions- as well as knowing what consequences come with those actions. And I saw the growth in so many areas, in a short amount of time!We feel like we are apart of the Beta Family. I ask them at the beginning of every year if they still want to attend Beta- it’s a hands down YES! They are engaged in learning, they connect with the Staff and form strong personal relationships with the other scholars. Always greeted with a warm smile! As a Staff member, I see the smiles on the faces of the scholars every morning. They are full of energy and ready to learn and this is something you RARELY find in another school. Staff is so helpful, so kind and caring. We had a severe winter storm this past week and I had messages and emails from both of my scholars teachers asking if we were okay and if we needed anything! Offering a helping hand to everybody that attended Beta. This is why we moved closer to Beta and why we stay with Beta.Outstanding, engaging, fun education paired with a team of Staff members that care for your babies like they are their own- you can’t beat it!

Beta has been an amazing school for my daughter for the last 5 years since she joined kinder. The teachers and administrators are amazing. Beta is one of the reasons I live on this side of town since my daughter doesnt want to change schools. I recommend Beta to any parent who is willing to partner with this great school in supporting their scholars academically. The success of your scholar depends on Parent, school and the scholar. Keep up the spirit Beta and the new campus is magnificent to say the least.

I highly and fervently recommend Beta Academy.Speaking from my own personal experience,My scholar has been attending for almost 5 years now and I have seen him breakthrough and continuously excel every single year. Academically he is being taught and challenged to go beyond minimal effort. We have had the delight and pleasure of entrusting him with some exceptional Educators *Mr. Moss is our Fave* He has been a significant and vital key to my sons growth and success. He is THAT teacher who leaves a life long impact. He truly is one of a kind. Over the years, I have witnessed some teachers stay late and/or start extra early to offer tutorials for at risk of failing scholars like mine was at some point. You will find devoted and special hearts in Beta such as Mr. Benitez, who has helped myself and my scholar so much handling any situation professionally and with wholehearted empathy and care. My scholar has pride in his school and it is evident when you see his progress, not only within school but also the values he is taught through Town Hall and programs like EAFK. My Appreciation and Gratitude augment yearly for this school. It means everything to a Parent to know, my scholar is in a positive environment, he has made wonderful friends of good influence and they all help one another to succeed and persist, he has the voice and confidence today that he never had and is breaking out of his timidity and shell, He is in good hands with kind, hardworking staff and admin, and outside of school he desires to be someone of significance in life. Its been bittersweet for this Mom to witness him mature over the years, since he is no longer dependent on me, but thankful for the firm and solid foundation Beta is giving him. Joyful rigor indeed!

Ive lived on this side of town for a 15 years and Beta Academy is definitely a bright spot in this area. Its one of the reasons we havent sold our home.We cant find a school anywhere else that compares. My 2 kids started here when the school was small and I have seen all the hard work they put into everything pay off. My kids love this place and love the new campus. You should see how excited they are to go to school everyday. If your kids arent enrolled here youre missing out. Everyone from the founders, to the principals, to the teachers and office staff are so friendly and go above and beyond. You can feel their hearts for what they do, they always go ALL OUT!

Beta Academy is special to me. It is the most spectacular school I have ever experienced. They do not scratch the surface with learning, they take it to a whole new level. Each teacher and all of the administration is devoted to getting to know all of the scholars on a personal level. Beta is a second home to many. They are kind, and loving, caring, and understanding, but most of all they are a light to what can sometimes be a dark world. Beta shines, and is like no other. Each person is filled with an unexplainable radiancy that is so strong, it’s contagious. Beta welcomes any and all people with open arms. They genuinely care about humanity, and would walk to the end of the earth for anyone who comes through their doors. Beta makes learning fun, interesting, and they make scholars eager to learn. They are not afraid to take steps in the right direction. They push all people to new levels, and the rigor is so high it gives you a new sense of expectations for other schools. I would not want to be anywhere else besides Beta Academy. So, thank you Beta for stretching not only my mind, but my character beyond belief!

Beta Academy is an exceptional school. I have been at Beta since Kinder and I am now in 9th... and I cant see myself anywhere else. To so many poeple Beta is a second home... a second family. The teachers and administration here make you feel like you belong and make sure they do all they can to make sure you are successful. They are loving, kind, and are a light to so many around them. Beta doesnt teach us scholars the bare minimum to have us barley get by, they go above and beyond and strech our understanding on so many things! The learning experience here at Beta is so fun, engaging, and so interesting. Not only does Beta help us grow academically, but they also help us grow in our character and virtues as well. Every time I walk in the doors of Beta I smile and am so blessed to be able to be apart of this incredible Beta family, who pushes their scholars to strive for excellence in all that they do. Thank you so much Beta Academy, for all the incredible oppurtunities you have given us scholars, and the way you have helped me grow not only academically but so much in my character as well!

I love this school! Both my kids have been at this school since they were in kindergarten. When harvey hit, we lost everything including the kids uniform. We got in contact with beta and they gave my kids a full uniform for free. I will forever be greatful for that because having the feeling of losing your home and sense of stability then something small yet generous made a huge difference to us. Social media has made it easy for anyone to say what they want and have people follow them. I personally seen the bullying post where parents commented saying they were going to give a bad review just to make sure this one parent got a response from the school. Also, the reviews stating that all good reviews are from employees or friends of the owners are rediculous.

I worked in a traditional public school for 3 years before coming to Beta and the environment and scholars at Beta do not compare. At Beta, there is an overwhelming sense of family among the staff and scholars. Each day is filled with joy and fun all while learning. The level of respect and confidence each scholar possesses during discussions and all other times is unmatched to any other group of scholars I have encountered. One of my favorite parts about being a teacher at Beta has to be the standard each scholar holds themselves to. Every answer, assignment, task, etc. is done with the highest quality; answers are always given in a complete sentence with a complete explanation. At Beta, we celebrate these successes and it truly feels like we all are winning.

Having taught in private schools for 13 years, I admit that I had some anxiety about teaching at a public charter school. The unknown was scary. The administration at Beta Academy truly helped my transition to be smooth and painless. The excellent training that I received and continue to receive has prepared me well and eliminated all of my unnecessary fears. Teaching at Beta is an absolute joy and a true privilege. The high standards set by the administration are evident in the rigorous curriculum, staff expectations, and the student handbook. These high standards are what I appreciate most about teaching here. The support that I feel on a daily basis is lacking in many schools. I’m thankful to work at a campus where I feel valued. I can honestly say that I feel like I’m part of a family at Beta. I’m here to stay!

I have watched this school go from thirty students to over six hundred. I have also seen them implement whole brain teaching and their joyful rigor mantra, and it is inspiring. I took a tour, led by two of their older students, and seeing those children all so into their whole brain teaching exercises and activities was amazing. I really wish I would have had that when I was a kid. There will be haters, as I have seen on here, but this is a school for kids AND PARENTS who are committed to excellence. You really should not come here if you have a victim mentality. If you want to elevate your kids futures to the next level and reinforce a positive mentality, this is the place for you.

The teachers are incredible at their job and very kind, though they may be strict at times, they are always putting their students future at mind. I dont mind the uniforms because I feel like they keep the students focused more on their studies instead of appearances. The educational system is outstanding as well, before arriving I always had trouble with math, however, after arriving math is now my favorite subject. As a previous employee of almost 4 years this school does not even deserve the 1 star that I am giving it. The school will never be all that it can truly be due to the continuous unethical practices that take place here. The school is filled with nepotism and a lot of the people that help run the school are closely related to the superintendent/CEO or are her close friends from college and childhood. They put a lot of unnecessary pressure on their students, families and even their teachers/employees. They are micromanager and talk to their employees poorly. The way that the administration talks to their families is very degrading as well. I have witnessed several teachers who still work on the campus dehumanize their students by the way that they address them and how they treat them and even to their parents and administration allows it. I’ve also seen a lot of students basically pushed out of the door due to low academic performance or from the parents being harassed by the teacher and admin over petty things. The majority of these students leave and go to other schools and end up being honor roll students and placed in the gifted/talented program or AP classes. Most of the people who are in charge have no experience of running a school before this one and they tend to make up rules that do not adhere to TEA laws and regulations. Their SPED students are treated poorly and not given all that they truly need to be successful. This school claims to be college preparatory but is far from it. The teachers are not properly trained and the way that they deliver instruction does not benefit all students. I was told that we were advanced and as soon as I started teaching at another school in the Houston area I quickly saw that they were not and the students were receiving the same quality of work as they would if they were in a good school in an ISD. The only difference between them and a normal public school is the QUANTITY of work that they give the students. They are quick to throw students in mandatory early morning and after school tutorials and threaten the parents to retain them for not attending. If students do not score high or to their likings on the NWEA MAP test they also threaten to retain them. As a Title 1 school who is supposedly serving “low income and disadvantaged” families in the South East community they are constantly bombarding them with overpriced fees including the uniforms and asking parents to donate large amounts of money to fund the school. Some of the fees include summer school, casual days/weeks, field trips which should be no more than $10-$12, fees for picking students up late($1 per minute that the parent is late) ridiculous school supply list which most items are removed from the classroom to stock up their office supplies and the uniforms($200-$350) which can only be purchased from an online store. I was one of the top performing teachers and was basically harassed and bullied by admin due to the fact that my eyes were opened to all of the things that we were not doing right and for standing up for myself, my students and fellow coworkers. I was called hostile and toxic for creating professional AND personal boundaries for myself and no longer falling for the manipulation and lies. I was even physically assaulted by an admin which led me to resign from my position in the middle of the school year and never received any type of apology. Most of the reviews that are left on any of their pages are from family members and their favorite employees. Do not be fooled by the fancy pictures, building, and the stats that are listed. Do the research for yourself. Ask around the community and listen to what they have to say about Beta Academy.

I home schooled my son from Kindergarten to 5th grade. For financial reasons I had to transition him to a public school but was hesitant to thrust him into the standard public school environment. It was a miracle that I got hold of Beta Academys flyer. I did my due diligence and decided to send him there. My son has now been there 5 years as of 2019-2020. While no school is perfect this school has been great for my son. He has blossomed and met the challenge of the rigor at this school. I appreciate the dress guidelines because I dont have to worry about him having to deal with the peer pressure of dressing a certain way; as they already have enough pressures to deal with. I love the school and its personal touch when going the extra mile to make the kids experience a good one. One of the things I put a high value on is their attention to building my sons character through the EAFK Program. Now my 6 yr. old attends. I fully support this school and understand their heart to raise up quality individuals that will impact our world for good. I hope you find this review helpful. We absolutely love Beta Academy! My son is currently in his second year and in the first grade. In preparing for school, I was admittedly a little nervous for him. I knew it would be challenging, because focus has always been an issue and I wanted him to do well. Of course like any parent, I also wanted him to enjoy learning and desire to go to school.I am happy to say that we made the right decision. Beta has exceeded our expectations. The teachers and staff are very involved, helpful, and caring for each scholar’s needs. We have experienced this first hand with various issues and couldn’t be happier with the help we have received and continue to receive. The school’s balance between learning and having fun is also excellent. Go watch some of the videos! I always get a kick out of seeing the kiddos standing on their desks in class or dancing around to loosen up in the morning. The Whole Brain method of teaching, in particular, has been so great for my little guy. He is completely engaged in the lessons and has a lot of fun in class. His current teacher, Mr. Trotter, is very funny, energetic, and interactive. He’s also excellent in his communication with the parents. We just love him!If you are looking for a school, I highly recommend Beta Academy. Hands down, the best school in Houston. I can’t wait to send my younger daughter there in the next couple of years.

Beta Academy was a God-send for our family. Every one of the staff and administration are always friendly and you are always greeted with a smile and acknowledgment. My experience has been that the teachers are truly passionate not only about the scholars academics but equally as passionate about their character and well-being. My 5th grade scholar struggled with math before attending Beta, this year he has become more self-confident and even says he enjoys math now. The teachers pour so much of themselves into each scholar and they go above and beyond, each and everyday, to do whatever is needed for the scholars success. We are so thankful that Mrs. Andrews pursued opening Beta with such determination and faithfulness. Beta Academy was founded on the principle of excellence in learning. According to a study conducted in late April by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Institute of Literacy, 19 percent of high school graduates cant read, a statistic unchanged in ten years. Furthermore, STEM education in the U.S. is lacking to the point that corporate employers are screaming for engineers and scientists in the workforce. Latisha Andrews, Beta Academys founder, has a clear and obvious passion for changing that statistic, and she introduced a standard of Joyful Rigor as well as innovative Whole Brain Teaching methods to her new charter. Parents who are okay with the rampant mediocrity in the United States workforce today and who dont mind if their children fall into those ranks may not value a rigorous culture of excellence in learning. However, I have observed that many parents want the best standard of education for their children, and for these parents, the newly chartered Beta Academy will ensure that their children can not only read, but are ready to excel in college and in their careers. I have confidence that Beta Academy will outperform the national and state averages on standard testing.

I am currently a 11th grade student that has been attending Beta Academy for 5 years now. Let me say, it is an honor to be part of this amazing facility. Many of teachers and staff are very sweet, opened armed, and heartwarming. However, it has not always been an easy road. Coming from a homeschool background until the 5th grade, becoming familiar with a real school environment came with a challenge. I was not used to the work load, nor the social aspect that came with a normal school such as homework, and group activities. To put it straight, I was at the bottom of my class for many months. Luckily, the strict teachers pushed, and pressed me to work/strive harder than I ever thought I could. The early mornings, and late nights studying made me want to quit. However, I did not. By the end of my first year, I was an A student. Over the next few years, my academic abilities skyrocketed. Now, I have been accepted into the schools duel credit program at San Jac, as well as several honor societies that come with this privilage. But, this is not to say this school is perfect. There are still improvements and work that needs to be done in order to become the school they say and want to become. Nevertheless, Beta Academy has been an important stepping stool to my success. If you are looking for a VERY rigorous school that will mold you or you scholar into a hard working leader, then this is definitely the place for you.

I have three very bright children who at one point before going to Beta loved school. The teachers are good to an extent. When I first put my son I put in his forms he had speech therapy at his previous school and we were monitoring his behavior issues. My son started in Aug. 2016 and left in March of 2017 due to this not once during that time did my son receive his services for speech. Then in November he was diagnosed with ADHD. The school from that time till I finally decided to take him out did not try and help or accommodate my son. When I reached out about what was taking so long to have an ARD meeting about the services my son should have been receiving the Principle stated that on his record said that they contacted the privious school and the school said he didnt receive services. When I spoke to the other school upon my son transferring back the lady in charge of the ARD program said she never spoke with Beta about my son cause her and I had been working on my son services for over a year already. Less than a month of transferring back to his old school my son was accommodated and given his services that he missed out on for almost a whole school year. Then we go to my girls one was in 2nd when she took their so called test Mrs. Andrews said my daughter couldnt read not even listening to the fact that my daughter was proven to have test anxiety. So they wouldnt put her in unless I held her back giving me her life story of being held back and it made her the amazing woman she is today despite my reservations I did it, but it was the worst thing I did. My daughter felt uncomfortable being in a lower grade kids teased her about it, plus when she finally got there she was way above the reading level of a 1st grader according to the teachers testing and work given to her. They also loaded her along with all the kids with way too much work to even be kids. The excuse is they are a college prep school I get that but even in college you are not consumed with so much homework. My other daughter passed her test with flying colors she was a third grader and it immediately got over whelming for her to the point she was crying. It wasnt that the work was hard it was that it was so much so fast this became where they wanted to put her back a grade too. I refused but they said if she kept having trouble that they would have to because she would ultimately fail the 3rd grade anyway at the rate she was going. I reluctantly again said okay thinking these people were really in the best interest of my childrens future.

This school is only for scholars who can help the schools 90 percent pass rate. The moment the scholar begins to do poorly they find ways to to get rid of them.If the parent points out that there is a different way, maybe an even better way of addressing issues whatever they may be the children suffer for it and they harass the parent till the parent has had enough. All while destroying the self esteem of the scholars. The school puts up the smoke an mirrors and claims they treat special needs children fairly but the first time a parent provides scientific evedance on how there particular scholar can best thrive. The school refuses to acomadate the needed and if the parent says anything they take it out on the child by pushing them emoshionaly,in a way that the child acts out and then they have reason to punish them knowing that the child is being pushed to hard and breaks the child emoshionaly and obliterates the childs self esteem. And at the time I had more than one child there and the school found ways to harass them so I would finely pull all my children . All so they could save face. Bottom line is if you dont fit in they find a way to make you leave by pushing the children. An making the scholars feel as if they did wrong when its the school is manipulating the child into feeling abnormal, like they did wrong all the while punishing the parent for bucking their system.

Me as a ten year old do not like this school my family dosent either becuse I have anxiety plus social anxiety and the school does not think its real if you are in this school I wish that you have a better experience than me 😁P.S the uniforms are terrible qualityA year later still hate this school but at least now I can shove my educational improvement but not because of you I have earned this by thinking of the day I can shove this up you’re face I am now in the 7th grade in the connect program plus avid and duke tip university program so I think that you shouldn’t have told me that I couldn’t do it plus you’re students suck they are very uneducated but they act much like geniuses and they have no manners show them life skills.I would like to add to this that my last edit was rude but I stand by what I say and yes I do think that it’s great to challenge students to do things I personally couldn’t keep up with the work because I have adhd and anxiety that distracts me in ways I can’t control and I think that to improve as a school you should maybe get some programs to help students that struggle if y’all maybe get some counselors to help students feel safer also failed to include my name it’s brizeida Rodriguez hope y’all remember me
