Great school! As an alumni, I was provided the important resources needed to begin my college experience. The staff can be very supportive, however, there have been occasions in which teachers have been lacking, but they try their best to do what they can for their students.

HSA has been a leader in their online teaching platform during COVID-19. My kids have been busy and engaged with both their teachers and their coursework. Teachers/staff are always available to answer questions, provide feedback, hold students accountable and overall make sure students are achieving goals. Thank you!

As a former parent of a Harmony graduate, it saddens me to read through these reviews. I had two of my children attend other area public schools, and their preparedness for college was subpar compared to the quality help my youngest child received while at the school. You will not find another school with the same amount of excellence standards, and the ranking of the school by US News & World Report speaks in and of itself.

HSA is One of the best pre-k to 12 grade schools. It has been growing a lot in every aspect and keeps getting better. At an educational level, Harmony excels and the awards and rankings show it. As a social and sports school Harmony is making an effort to evolve and improve.

If you are interested in good academics to succeed Harmony is the best place, but if you want big school and get lost then Harmony is not for you. My first grade kid was at Lujan chavez elementary and she was happy but we moved to new place and new school . School rating was 10 out 10 .My KG son and 2nd daughter started at that school.I could keep them only one semester there because my son hated school. So I transferred them to Harmony SE elementary. Now he likes his school and happy to go. Staff does a lot of things but they are humble to talk about all.You will not regret to be at Harmony.

As a former graduate from HSA El Paso, reading the reviews on this page made me very disappointed. It saddens me to see how students and even parents talk of this school. I was a student at HSA El Paso for 7 years and my experience was amazing. Teachers have a lot of patience and push you to learn more and challenge yourself. There is no such thing as dumber classes just like at public school, students are given the choice to choose their classes, either advanced, AP, or regular classes. They also have great opportunities and extra curricular activities. They have robotics which almost every year places for the international competition, science olympiad which is a great learning experience, after school clubs, a soccer team, volleyball team, and a basketball teams. The school also offers fun yet informative college trips for students. For the people complaining about the food, this year students are given the choice of 2 meal options. I have tried them myself and they are good, not sure why students are complaining. I will say that HSA has strict rules, however the rules are what make the schools environment safe and better than a public schools. Is it too hard for students to follow a dress code? Really dont know why students complain about not being able to wear hoodies. Theyre going to school to learn, not to a fashion show. I am a current Nursing Student at UTEP, and I can sincerely say that HSA and its vigorous curriculum really did prepare me for college. Being in college classes with students that attended public school, I saw them struggle through topics and assignments that I completed easily. The classes at HSA will challenge you/your child academically, that is the process of getting you/your child college, life, and career ready. If you or your child are not willing to be challenged and to put in extra effort, dont come here and write a bad review saying the school is too tough. There is always someone willing to help, it is up to the student to be willing to put in the effort and want to succeed. HSA has a great community of teachers, students, parents, and staff. HSA is a great school and has a very friendly environment and I really hope that if you are deciding on whether or not to enroll your child, or you are a student that wants to or is considering enrolling, to please check out our school and give us a chance to show you how great it is and all the academic opportunities it offers and dont let yourself be persuaded by the negative comments. You will not regret joining the Harmony family.

Sports is one thing that is a disadvantage to the students but, the food is another major problem. They give the nuggets frozen which includes artificial hormones. The spaghetti is COLD and sometimes raw. I am a growing child and i need healthy food get better cooks. Its no wonder why theres always people in the nurse. By the way if i could i would rate this school 0 stars.

This is a good school, education wise and many other reasons, but Im not saying its the best. One problem I have with the school is the dress code, my friend was wearing a hoodie and he had nothing under the hoodie other than the uniform, and when one of the staff saw the hoodie they told him, Hey, you cant wear hoodies, Im going to have to take it. And this was one of the cold days so he just went on with his day being cold. I know its dresscode, but this is just not right.

Ok imma be honest. This school is aight but like some teachers need to put respect in kids like fr. I’m not gonna say who but like a kid said something negative about himself and the person said yea he does. This lady I had for the mock staar ripped my classmates test. Not saying this school bad like I like it but fr just some respect, we just kids not 20 yr olds. (I think I may get in trouble Bc of what I said or not? Idk but it’s true ok?)

This school should be so much better. This is a long review but please read. The fact that this review feels like a waste of time should be telling of how well the administrations listening skills are. But Ill be honest, the usage of the chromebooks is dumb, we would be more responsible and more careful with devices that were our own. I understand believing that some students will search or find something inappropriate but thats their choice and their device. The parents should be informed this and trust me, the solution is to take away that individuals device, not ban the devices for every student. We would be more responsible because our own device would be taken care of more than school devices and it would save the school a lot of money. I understand part of wanting a dress code, but the shoulderless ban and bright shoes ban is so stupid, shoes are nothing. How about instead of teaching us not to show our bodies, you teach students to respect eachother? Isnt that a fundemental point of what you teach?Sorry if there is any mispellings.

The only reason some people are giving this school a bad rating is because they werent willing to put in any effort. HSA has soooo many resources to help students help themselves, and teachers are more than willing to help. If a student seeks help, he/she will get it. I have two children who graduated from HSA and one who currently attends there. One graduate went there since 4th grade and the other since 1st grade. When they went to college, they felt they were much better prepared for the challenge than their peers. Also, the anti-bullying policy there is strictly enforced. One of my children is transgender, and HSA does a great job making it a comfortable learning environment for EVERYONE...no matter a students sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. Dont be fooled by the bad reviews. This is a great school! In response to the person who mentioned me by name, you failed to notice that I still have one child at Harmony. Also, if the way you chose to speak to me is the way you spoke to your teachers, its no wonder you had problems there.

School system presents low income families with the opportunity to be a part of a school system that feels like a privately run institution were they will get a better education than a public school. Although it looks and sounds like an act of solidarity, the system is fraudulent because this Harmony school system receives money from the state to spend it on useless technology so that they can take pictures and advertise their school system. Money does not go to new books, science laboratory equipment, sports team uniforms, or things that benefit your children. The people that run the school are Turkish nationals who just look after their own. They keep and employ very under qualified teachers to teach your children and fire better educators who are not one of them. The Principal and Vice Principals are unqualified for their positions, talk down to your children, violate student privacy because their Handbook says they can (i.e. - emptying their pockets during class, searching backpacks/lockers/personal purses and bags, even if there is no evidence of threat or violations), and persecute and favor their employed friends. Looking to work here? Teachers are underpaid and are required to work overtime, sometimes even on weekends. When you work at Harmony and they require you to put on latex gloves, force students to open their personal belonging so you can search them, it does not make you feel very good, especially when you know that the ALL the students that attend Harmony are good kids and are not involved with the wrong crowds.Do the right thing, find an alternative school system to enroll your kids, they deserve it.

This school is a great school, (academically wise.). I read some of the reviews about how kids fail because teachers fail to educate them. I have no choice but to contradict that, as I myself learned a hell lot in the short time Ive been here . Teachers never fail to educate me and I found my grades rising higher than they ever did when I was in another school. I feel that if students arent satisfied with the way teachers are teaching them, they should self teach themselves. Many complain about algebra being too hard and how they always fail because the teacher doesnt educate them. But it isnt like we live in the 1900s. We have access to phones, computers, and internet search. Would it really hurt to go home, search up how to do it and learn it yourself? Compared to other schools the amount of homework we get really isnt that much.Motivation plays part into a students success as well. If youre not motivated, how can you expect to succeed and have your wishes granted? In the beginning of the year I was motivated to do well. And I managed, getting all As. It was toward the end of last year when i started losing motivation. I slacked off, and when the 2017 awards were given out in December, I got AB honor roll when I could have gotten A honor roll had I tried harder.A students success isnt in the fate of a teachers or their parents. It is up to them to make sure they succeed. We may be young now, but we wont be young forever. Soon, too soon, well be out by ourselves finding jobs, starting new lives. No one can help you then but yourself. My parents always tell me this, if you cant help yourself, then who can help you? So parents dont hesitate to send your children here.

Honestly this school is one of the worst school in the nation. They promise many things, such as sports and high quality food, but never accomplish them. The school is small as it is, but the cafeteria is like a tiny dog house. Their only reason rolls and the food tastes like dog poop. Not to mention but some teachers smell like arm lits. Although, this is bad enough, there is plenty more problems with academics. They dont have require credits that other schools and colleges would need. Since they dont have many electives, they force you to be in tutoring making it part of your attendance, which if you dont go you will be counted absent. If you for some reason dont get a credit they dont let you make it up for summer school, they dorceuou to retake it in the Internet, forcing you to pay the course. Teachers dont engage theor students and could care less if they fail, this is the majority, but there is teachers who actually do care. The restrooms from this school are never sanitized, they always have poop in the walls, which for me is unbelievable, since I do my necessities in their and their is only so much privacy. The reason for me moving to a public school is for all these reasons. I dont recomend any new student to enrooll, it is the worst school in the nation!

Original post (2015): My sister currently attends HSA El Paso and having been a student at a public school in the same area, I am very impressed with their curriculum. They mostly focus on math and science which I think is great because there is a need for our educational system to do just that. It is a charter school, which means that it is partially funded by the state. That also means that they can be underfunded and parents have to significantly contribute supplies and there is a lot of fundraising. One of the things I dont like is that it is a very demanding school compared to public schools in the area. They do not teach any specific religion. HSA El Paso was recently ranked one of the best schools in the nation. All in all, this is one of the best education options for K-12 in the El Paso area.Update (May 2019): Sadly I have to update my review of this school and knock off a star. It’s very disappointing that for such a small school, kids don’t get the individual attention they deserve. There is a lack of organization and lack of communication. There’s also a disregard for any student who doesn’t “shine.” My sister was an average student here and was completely disregarded when she deserved any praise. Staff ignored issues she had with a particular teacher who bullied her one year. College counselor only had 60 students to advise and completely dropped the ball. He sent my sister’s college application mid-year reports late. Not to mention he did nothing to help my sister with her college applications unless I contacted him. Nevertheless, she was accepted into a top 100 liberal arts school. My sister also went to this school since it opened, from K-12, and at her graduation this wasn’t acknowledged even though they recognized 3 other students who also attended the school since Kindergarten. They’re incredibly strict and hard on students. Parents have to be very careful to voice their concerns, otherwise no one will pay attention. You’ll always have to be on top of teachers/admin staff to make sure your child isn’t ignored despite the small size of the school. There are public schools in El Paso just as good as this school. It’s only worth it sending your child here if the public school near you is no good. I realize it’s a nationally ranked school, but there is incredible room for improvement, and they can start by caring for all students who attend. National rank is meaningless when it comes to quality of education, especially if a school ignores its students.
