I just love the atmosphere at Henrys Home! A great place to get centered and a proverbial balm for the weary. Though there is always work to do around there, it is FUN work! Actually doesnt feel like work at all! Being in nature is so nurturing..... And the horses are a bonus! Their personalities are so unique and reflective.Cant say enough good things about Henrys! Truly inspirational!!!

I found Henry’s home in a time of need and let me tell you it was a saving grace! It gave me a place to work through my struggles and find peace again. Everyone at Henry’s home was so welcoming and willing to help. I bonded with a very special horse named Admiral. I don’t know what I would have done if it wasn’t for him and this amazing sanctuary.

Amazing sanctuary for animals and humans alike! My wife and I volunteered there to help build a fence and feeding stalls for the horses. Everyone there is a volunteer and they all truly care for each one of the animals. I believe they accept you for treatment if you are a Veteran or first responder with PTSD. I say treatment with because that is what it was for me. I do not speak for Henrys Home and have no tie to them other than being a Combat vet with PTSD and working with them today. Reach out to them with any questions as they were extremely sincere about what they do and am sure they could always use more volunteers. As for the 1 star reviewer; they must have never actually been to Henrys Home, as I met Henry. He is a horse and like majority of the horses there, he has an amazing story of his life.

Absolutely a safe haven for everyone: volunteers, veterans and animals they have rescued. A place where all volunteers can find their personal passion, interest and like-minded animal lovers! Whether you are interested in caring for the animals, building/ construction projects, organization, gardening, social media/ newsletter or events there is something for everyone.Very easy to volunteer and extremely flexible hours! A perfect place to learn no prior experience with horses is necessary. The other volunteers are extremely kind, patient and will teach you everything you will need to know. I promise you too will find this place as your sanctuary 😊

I started volunteering at Henrys Home Horse and Human Sanctuary a little over a year ago. I feel so blessed to have found such a wonderful place. My love for the horses is so deep it is hard to explain. They have become like a family to me. I currently sponsor two of them,Chandler, which is the Alpha of the Herd and Tavi. They are both my sweet, sweet boys.My fellow volunteers are a group of warm, wonderful, caring people. I have made several strong friendships and am so happy to be a part of this amazing team.Donna is our leader and along with her wonderful assistants, Krista and Mai they teach us everything we need to know about natural horsemanship and how to properly care for the Herd. If you are looking for a place to volunteer look no further.Henrys caterers to Veterans and First Responders but all volunteers are welcome and can become a part of this wonderful team.

The all-volunteer staff members are incredibly accommodating to experienced and not-so-experienced riders (like me). For Veterans, First Responders and their families, they offer free riding lessons, but like so many of us, I am not inclined to take handouts, so they allow us to work in any capacity wed like - grooming horses, cleaning tack, building fences, plumbing, electrical, photography, marketing... anything wed like to do to earn our keep, but it is not required or even asked.Donna Stedman, its founder, is one of the most selfless, kind and passionate humans Ive ever known. She is driven to provide Veterans, First Responders and their families with the tools to bring everyone closer to the community, its families and the animals. Her team of tirelessly dedicated volunteers will welcome you with open arms and assist you in getting to know the lay of the land, pairing you with a horse (or thirty), and showing you the ropes in your own time.I cannot thank this organization enough for their hard, honest work. They are doing the very best with what they have to help us become the best version of ourselves, and thats all anyone can ever really ask for, isnt it?

Whats not to love about a sanctuary that helps veterans, civilians, and animals? Henrys Home is a beautiful sanctuary, full of wonderful, welcoming people and loving animals. Whether taking a groundwork lesson and grooming horses or weeding the property and washing out buckets, theres always something to do and some skill or memory to be gained. Henrys Home is truly a place of rest and hard work, and I am so glad to have been able to volunteer there!

I found Henrys Home just about a year ago.My mom had passed away and I was having a hard time with depression and grief.I have always loved animals and most especially horses. After realizing that this wonderful place will train you to groom and care for the horses even without a lot of previous experience was exciting for me. At first I thought I would only come out once in a while. But this sanctuary draws you in. I go several days a week because I have fallen in love with the animals and the peacefulness that you feel once you arrive. The volunteers have become more like my friends and family than just crew members. Its a very special place for everyone, but they really have a passion for veterans and first responders. The outreach is to give those that have given so much to our country a safe haven to come be with nature, animals and other vets that have things in common. I love Henrys Home and what they are doing. If you come out to visit I know you will see what makes it so special.

Wonderful place where you can hang with the horses and volunteer to help out. The team is really lovely and welcoming.. if you like horses (or even dogs or pigs because they have a few!), give this place a visit and volunteer for a few hours.

Henry’s Home Horse Sanctuary literally saved my life. After my father’s illness and death, I suffered from depression and thoughts of suicide. I didn’t know where to turn. Even though I was already volunteering at another horse rescue, it was Henry’s Home that gave me a sense of belonging, a purpose in life. It has become my home away from home, where I am valued and appreciated for my individual talents. Henry’s Home has become a place of peace and serenity for me and all the volunteers I interact with on a daily basis. It’s my heart home❤️

What an incredible nonprofit ran by people who have bleeding hearts for the animals and volunteers. Love the challenge by choice mentality where you can come out and work hard for a few hours or just sit with the animals if thats what you need. Glad to have been coming here regularly for 6 months and have no intention of stopping!

This place is truly a sanctuary! I felt the love instantly when I became a volunteer over a year ago, and it has been a saving grace in these uncertain times of Covid. It is my home away from home and its not just about the horses (which by the way, I LOVE), its about the people. You will feel welcome regardless of your background, age, race, level of experience, etc. A godsend for vetarans and first responders, or anyone else who craves peace and harmony with nature. Its a must that my next home be much closer to Henrys!!

Henrys Home is exactly what their tagline says - a sanctuary for humans and horses. The founder has a deep commitment to the success of this organization.I am a Vietnam veteran with PTSD. I love that Henrys is devoted to helping veterans and first responders in addition to rescuing abused, neglected and homeless horses. The beauty of Henrys is when humans help horses heal - horses help humans heal. This combined with a beautiful ranch setting is pretty magical. You dont have to be a veteran or first responder to benefit. There are lots of opportunities to volunteer at Henrys Home.

Henry’s Home is a unique & wonderful place where it’s ok to NOT be ok. We are all dealing with our own personal battles, but here you don’t have to deal with it alone. Being with the horses here is therapeutic. Every visit is welcoming & re-energizing. Whether you need a soulful retreat for self-reflection, feeling of serenity or you want/ need a sense of community (human or horse), you’ll always leave Henry’s Home with a refreshing sense of peace.Volunteering here has helped me to feel like I’m a part of something greater than myself. I’m grateful that everyone’s hard work & dedication, at Henry’s Home, ensures a place like this even exists for all of us to enjoy & heal.
