We have had six of our kids go through the CMCSS, with one starting for seven years at Clarksville Academy before transitioning to Public School.Three graduated out of North West High, and two out of Kenwood. Four of them went off to college, with two of them finishing with a Masters Degree, anf one with a Bachelors Degree, with one still going strong through 10th Grade, trying to make the best of the current situation. After he transitioned, he told everyone how he would have gone to the public school system had he known how easy, and fun it is . So, I can with honesty say that obviously the teachers must have done an awesome job, and prepared our kids for their path in life they chose for themselves. Yes, it took some work on my children’s part too.But overall, nobody ever said school is always easy.Obviously having experienced the private school sector and the Public School Sector here in Clarksville, I am thankful for all the Teachers, and the supporting staff we have come across in all these years as they put in a lot of effort, and work many additional hours to not only teach but also accommodate the parents with all that., and more.

All I know is the bus driver and bus rider of my childs school at St. Bethlehem are amazing! Bus 1307 to be exact! My child was being chased by 2 big dogs and before I could get out of my door the bus rider was already out of the bus prepared to help my child with no regards to his own safety! These are the types of people who we want protecting our children! People who actually care! To these 2 men I highly thankyou for your protection and hard work!

I’m a 2020 senior and I can’t find any information as to where or who I’m supposed to call to pay my lunch fee. If the schools are going to be closed then central office needs to at least pick up the phone. I’ve been calling them straight for the past 4 days directly when they open and still no answer. I’m just hoping that my diploma doesn’t get held back or I don’t because of an irrelevant fee. Every time I call it’s the same answering machine. I’m not trying to make an appointment. I won’t to speak to someone from there about it and pay it over the phone or at least give me a link.

Terrible. Most days their food are cold, they dont give a lot of choices, and most teachers are just mean. The mean teachers will sometimes literally yell at the entire class even if it is just like 4 people messing around. There are a few good teachers that I like to be in their classes which is why Im giving it a 2 star.

My son has auditory processing disorder. He was told when he came in that no problem they could handle it under 504 plan. He had a wonderful third grade teacher. Moving into fourth grade we were promised that he was going to be with the best teacher team at Rossview elementary. They have absolutely no idea about his disorder and never even bothered to take the time to look at it. The teachers refuse to communicate with the parents no matter how many times we have requested them to do so. We had to get an education advocate only to find out that they were out of compliance by not providing him necessary services. We reported them to the state and they put pressure on them to do something. He now has an IEP but even with that the teachers refuse to communicate. My son has gained nothing from the fourth grade and will likely have to repeat or do summer school when we move to another state. We had to pull my daughter out of the middle school due to bullying and significant profanity and Extensive sexual talk. The buses are out of control and there is bullying everywhere. We moved here because they have a 10 out of 10 rating but that rating only reflects their testing and that is all they care about. Granted there are excellent teachers here and there but as a whole the school system is very disappointing. Luckily we put my daughter in their virtual school program and she is still part of the school district and that’s the only way she could escape bullying, while excelling in her gifted programs.

I have two disabled children. The way they treat their special needs children is horrific. They try to do and say anything to deny your child services he/she desperately needs. They tell blatant lies at IEPs and totally disregard providing your child with a free and appropriate public education. If you have a special needs child try your best to get an advocate asap and educate yourself with special needs education law because you will have to fight for your childs rights!

Lots of students bully others and are loud and disrespectful. The teachers and principal do nothing about it either. Adults there will encourage you to tell them if anything is wrong, but if you do, they will never do anything about it. Also, your grades and scores on standardized test (which they give way too many of) are way more important than actual learning and if you need help to them. The only good thing here is some of the nice teachers and other nice adults.

I taught (and raised 3 kids) in this district for years, which was enough time to see significant and amazing progress that CMCSS has made in keeping up and surpassing national standards in many areas. I’m proud that my grandkids now attend and flourish in our schools.

Yes, Im back with another review. Im not too sure who gives out these short assessments all the time, but they need to stop and think. Its not fair to flood advanced students (and even students in regular classes) with small tests in the beginning of the school year. I understand that advanced kids are expected to be able to know the material well but, when you just got back from summer vacation, the lessons need to be re-taught. Instead, teachers are given mandatory assessments and have no time to prepare students for them by practicing. The tests are very stupid too because it only takes a couple of wrong answers to get a bad grade thats posted in Powerschool and drops your grade.

The food does not taste great in fact it doesnt really have at all sometimes. There are way to many up coming test to really learn and the teachers are scrambling to jam all the information into our heads before they come up. Were too worried about test rather than learning the information needed for our final. Also the test gave been so in the way it has been hard to get some grades up. This year also they were unorganized about the testing at first the scheduling seemed to be everywhere because someone was tweaking it still the week before the test. Most teachers are good and have great personalities, but some just keep piling worksheets just for the test which will not help in learning the information needed.

If I could give it a zero I would. Unprofessionalism, lazy, no accountability and they just hire anyone. They dont care about special needs or i.e.p. going of what Ive read from the other comments. If you have a special needs child esp at norman smith, email me alexandria.montgomery at outlook dot com. (I wrote it it that way as to not be removed ) I want to gather parents for the next town hall meet meeting. If we stand together and voice our concerns at least we can say weve tried.

I have kids that go to CHES. I have a love/hate relationship with that school. They have done wonderful things for my two oldest boys. My first son couldnt talk when he started there. Now hes 7 and never stops talking not even in his sleep! He has behavior issues, ADHD and ODD and because of the teachers and aids hard work my son has over come so much. My second son would not have anything at all to do with other children. Hed act like they werent there at all. He had behavior issues and speech delays. (Mind you who may be wondering both my oldest were born prematurely. 6 and 5 weeks early. ) Now my second son is so well behaved and a social butterfly. He helps his fellow class mates and has mastered all of his pre-k goals and will be off to Kindergarten next year! He is also already doing some math! Now dont get me wrong I have some issues with this school but nothing that would stop me from sending my other 2 boys there. For example: my oldest is in first grade and has home work EVER SINGLE DAY and MOST WEEKENDS...! To me I feel thats a bit excessive for a first grader. Not to mention the loads of work he does while at school. I know this is for his future. I also understand that the teachers have regulations they have to meet but when do these kids get to just be kids? Are we not asking too must from them already? When my 7year old tells me himself that he and I quote is burnt out come on now enough already...Also the food is gross. Thats all Ive got on the matter of food. Gross. My biggest issues is their rules. They do not do enough to stop the bullying at school and on the buses! Yet they tell me that my son needs to tell a teacher but then they have this no tattling rule. So if another child is saying crude things to my son and he trys telling a teacher but then they tell him to stop tattling.... There are more ways to bullying then just being physical. And Im sorry but words do hurt! You can fix a booboo but you cant fix a broken spirit. Kids these days cant take it like us parents did back in the day. I expect the school to try harder. Our children should feel safe when they go to school not scared of what the next day there holds in store for them. What are we teaching these kids? That bullying others is okay and there is no consequences to their actions? That treating others in a foul manner will go unnoticed? And that no one cares about them or how they are being treated and that no ones got their back? Well?! Enough is enough. Yall keep asking yourselves why todays kids are so depressed and why suicides rates at an all time high but then you stand idle while they get bashed and made fun of and ridiculed by other kids. Wake up people! Its now or never. Only us adults can change this problem with the bullying.

Norman Smith Elementary is the 3rd school my 5 year old autistic child had been in and so far the worst. The teacher and aids of his class are amazing, but the school/transportation is lacking greatly in the communication department. My child was left behind because no on told the teacher he was riding the bus. Also filled out the bussing form 2 times and they are using the old list from another school. To top it off the call order is all messed up and I yet again have to fill out another form. School has barely started and I have as of yet have a smooth day with them. Oh on top of this when I go in to try to get things fixed they just pass the buck and blaim someone else. If I could move I so would.

Went to burns Darden to pick up my son. I parked in the parking lot and then I went to get my son. They asked if he was a car rider or walker. I said car rider. They told me I had to get in my car and go to the back of the line. That it wasn’t fair to the other parents who were in line. They could have done the same thing I did. I know it wasn’t for the child’s safety because they didn’t ask the walkers for their id or me or any of the other car riders. The vice principal was very rude. Called the police department when I got home to see if I was wrong. They said it wasn’t a law or anything. And if they wasn’t checking ids wasn’t for safety. Told me I should contact administration . That’s what I’m doing tomorrow
