Absolutely amazing family. Yes its a dance studio but its more like a family that LOVES TO DANCE. They have social dancing and parties and private lessons and such a REASONABLE COST! I love it here! They even have a program where Instructora go to different schools and teach the students dance and social skills! Amazing! If your wondering where to donate, this place is doing Life Changing things and could use your encouragement!

Classes are fun and the teachers are excellent. Im taking salsa lessons and Im really enjoying it!

Took a private salsa lesson with a friend and then attended their TGIF party. Was super impressed with Ninos lesson. We had fun and learned a ton!Their party was a blast and everyone was super friendly. One of the best social dancing venues in the Chicago area!

Wonderful dance studio. Great teachers and dance space. They also have figured out how to do group lessons in COVID times safely. Lots of space between dancers, all wearing masks, windows open, air on. Their high ceilings and cleaning protocol are good too.

Ive been taking classes and attending the social dances at May I Have this Dance for the past 3 years. May I is a great place to learn how to dance. The group dance classes are both educational and fun. During the classes, the leads get to dance with all of the follows and vice-versa. The instructors start on time and are welcoming/friendly. There is no hard sell. The dance parties on the weekends are the highlight of the week. The parties start with skill-appropriate lessons that helps to break the ice and get you moving. The music is great and the dance floor is large! I highly recommend May I Have this Dance.

Extraordinary studio with a phenomenal staff! Everyone is SUPER friendly and really good at what they do. Many (if not all) teachers continuously attend/teach workshops and compete at dance conferences. If you decide to learn how to dance or want to get better in a specific area, this is the place for you.

My friends are accomplished dancers that often attend May I, as they call it. At their encouragement, I began lessons. I did not imagine how much fun the process of learning how to dance could be. The organization is run very well. The facility is appealing, the instructors are entertaining and engaging. They maintain a high standard of respect and comfort amongst their attendees. In addition to core dance lessons, there are several options to advance your skills with very talented instructors. The facility also hosts several novelty programs including evening dances. All levels of dance are welcome. Where the more seasoned dancers enjoy dancing at a higher level, the novices, such as myself, are encouraged to improve. We attended a dance recently and I was moved to see the owner, Nino, request all the men to form a dance circle around one of my friends on her birthday as he started her in a Salsa dance. Then each gentleman cut in and continued the dance. This was a wonderful gift for her, as she really loves dance. Nino, is regarded with a great deal of respect, as I hear, from those familiar with May I, and I can see why. Wishing Nino, and May I great success.

I am a student at the May I Have this Dance Studio and have been taking dance lessons there for more than five years. It’s an awesome place to learn how to dance and have fun! The staff is super friendly and the teachers are very supportive and helpful in learning! Many teachers are specialized dance professionals and i’m very fortunate and honored to learn from them. There are many opportunities to practice your dances and socialize at the T.G.I.F.(all the dances), Ballroom, S.O.S. And Latin parties ; plus the mini practicas of Zouk, Hustle and Argentine Tango held on various nights. A wonderful place to dance and meet wonderful people of different ages. I just love the May I community! It’s my #1 place to go dancing in Chicago and have lots of fun with friends!!

My initial 3-star review (noted subsequently) was overshadowed by a negative experience with the front desk personnel specifically, and appears to have been addressed by Nino the owner. So after a year of classes and experiences I wanted to amend my review to more accurately reflect my overall experience over a longer period of time. If your question is this: Is May I Have This Dance a good place to learn to dance as an adult ot teen with NO former dance experience? The answer is an emphatic YES! The May I studio truly is a fantastic dance school that provides a positive and encouraging environment to learn and cultivate whatever style(s) of dance interest you. What truly makes May I studio stand out is the quality of the instructructors. From expertise to personability they are the foundation that makes a difference in your experience. If you are thinking “I really want to learn to dance” then stop just thinking about it and come in and try a level 1 group class as an excellent first step in your new journey. Let me review the Pros and Cons.---The pros and key 5-star elements of May I being:1) The instructors are professional and personable.2) The established community is very welcoming and supportive3) The facility is clean and well maintained.---The cons. more like aspects that still require refinement are:1) The policy of not allowing “make-up” classes, which can be incredibly frustrating for people with non-standard schedules.2) Group classes may be canceled if there is not enough “interest” leaving you with a “now what” period of time until they re-add it to the roster. Noting the issue here being if you have completed level 1 and/or 2 and then level 3 is the one cancelled, leaving you in limbo.3) Classes are sometimes unbalanced with leads vs follows which can be discouraging especially to new students.Of course these areas of concern may be somewhat out of May I’s control, as there is a limit to the influence they have over something like student interest. Similar to my prior issue, it is the policy where the improvements should be addressed. So, please do not let these few irritating aspects keep you from trying a class or diminishing the overall positive experience you can have at May I. I am merely noting them.-----My previous review: [So far the classes have been fantastic and the instructors excellent. Certainly a great place to have fun and learn new things. Unfortunately, I have an issue with the front desk, specifically over the CLARITY of policies that were NOT clearly disclosed, nor communicated, which we were then reprimanded for violating. The truly disappointing aspect was the way the front desk had a discussion with us about them, which left us feeling VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. It was distressing enough to seriously consider NOT returning for the remaining classes we have already paid for. As a dance school that prides itself on the respect the comfort of [their] students, its disheartening to have an amazing experience provided by dance instructors, then ruined by injudicious front desk personnel.]

Great place to learn many types of social dance (ballroom, swing, latin) on weekends and weekday evenings, and to practice those skills in a party setting on friday and sunday evenings.
