My teenager is in two Jam Bands with Music 4 Life. Its a fantastic program! John really listens to the kids preferences and ideas, and my son has learned a lot and grown as a musician in the year hes been involved. I also like that its more affordable and down-to-earth than some of the similar group/performance-oriented music programs in the area. Highly recommended.

We took our two year old a few Saturday’s ago. First, the teacher mispronounced her name the whole time even after being corrected multiple times. It’s not that hard. My daughter can say her own name clearly. Whatever, we can forgive that. Then the teacher would ask a question, two words in, she changed the subject or moved on. I felt judged, like my responses were not good enough for her standards. She didn’t even speak to my husband even when he was correcting her pronunciation of our kid’s name. The final nail in the not coming back coffin though was about a ball. The teacher’s pet, whose parents she very much engaged, tried to take a ball right out of my daughter’s hand. The teacher intervened to say she wanted to just trade balls. Yeah, no she was hoarding them. The kid had like four balls but she wanted the pink one. I told my daughter to tell this kid, no I’m playing with this ball but I’ll give it to you when I’m done. My family received the nastiest look ever. Then the lady had the nerve to say something like, if you release the ball you’ll find it comes back because that’s what sharing is. Seriously??? None of the kids were sharing balls to begin with but playing individually within their own family units. But I guess this teacher enforces bullying and victim hood or is bullying just allowed from the pet? Either way, not on my kid. I wanted to walk out right then but my husband is much nicer than me and we waited the last ten minutes for class to end. Afterwards, the teacher said she’d contact me about future classes. Not a word has been heard. I’d have loved to have a conversation with her about the whole thing being a waste of our time and money. She spoke of the benefits of this class throughout for us and another new lady there. We get WAY more out of storytime at the library, dance class and guitar lessons then we do here and my daughter doesn’t have to deal with being treated less than. Heck, library alone gives her all the skills this lady mentioned. Needless to say, we will never go back.

At first I was hesitant to make time to take my baby to a music class; I thought I can play music for my baby at home, why do I need a class for it? But after the first class, I was hooked! This class is SO much more than just singing and dancing! Every thing you do during class has a purpose and encourages growth and development, so much more than I could do by myself at home. Ms. Betsy is incredibly knowledgeable and explains why each song/dance/activity is important, and what part of the babys development we are working on and why. I thought I was signing up for this class for my baby, and didnt realize at the time how much I would benefit from it myself. Especially early on (we started going when my baby was 8 weeks old), I really appreciated the socialization with other moms. There is always some time at the beginning and end of class to talk, share stories, ask questions, etc. I feel connected to the other moms (and dads) in this class and have definitely made some good friends. There is never any pressure during the class, and Ms. Betsy and the other parents are always very accepting. If your baby needs to crawl around while everyone else is standing and dancing, that is ok. If you need to feed your baby while everyone else is singing, that is ok. Its a very easy, comfortable environment to be in. Every week, both my daughter and I look forward to seeing Ms. Betsy and all of our friends at music! I totally recommend!!

This is by far a recommendation for any parent looking to get their child acclimated to the wonders of music and sounds. My son has been going to this class for just about one yr and eight month just shy of 2 yrs and he has developed tremendously. Being a Dad Ive always had my reservations, but like I mentioned this class has changed me and our son. This class also let you as a parent develop both parenting skills as well as musical rhythm ( smile) I cant say thank you enough.

Our pediatrician introduced us to Kindermusik 2 years ago when our daughter was 1.5 years old. We enrolled after our trial class and our daughter has been with Miss Betsy class since. She has grown tremendously under Betsys loving care and guidance weekly. My daughter & I always enjoy our time at Betsys classes. We are blessed to have Betsy as OUR teacher!

Music 4 Life is fantastic! My 13 year old son has been involved with Mr. Gurske in jam band for a few years and more recently with jazz band. He has gained so much confidence playing piano and saxophone in front of other people. It has also been great for my son to learn to play with other people in a band. Of course, its also a whole lot of fun! Mr. Gurske is such a wonderful teacher and role model for his students. Our family is happy to be a part of Music 4 Life and we would recommend Music 4 Life to anyone!!

We have been attending Kindermusik since our daughter was 2 months old. Miss Betsy has provided an amazing learning environment through music for her and it was been such a joy as a parent to watch her grow and develop during these classes. Miss Betsy has a gift for knowing the childrens needs and adjust the classes to ensure each child is getting the most out of the experience. In speaking with other friends in and out of the class I believe that Kindermusik offers the best musical enrichment your child can have. Miss Betsy is unmatched with her 20+ years in musical teaching. It is also a great avenue to meet others parents and let your child mingle with other kids.

Kindermusik® with Betsy Gurske is the premier program for early childhood music in the Charlotte area. Not only does Betsy have vast experience, knowledge and expertise teaching music to children, but she is kind, patient and passionate about working with them. With her husband, John (an amazing guitar instructor) the Gurskes have created a special music school for all ages with a caring atmosphere. For years, they have been giving their time and talents working with children who have special needs, and have expanded to include Kindermusik’s early literacy program to Title 1 pre-K children in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school district. Both of my children took lessons at music.4.life from preschool through middle school, including Kindermusik, piano, guitar and jam band, which gave them a firm musical foundation and developed their musicianship. I am forever grateful to the Gurskes and music4life for the marvelous experiences we had with them.

We have attended Kindermusik classes at Music4Life for the past 3 years. We love it. I really feel like it is quality music education for my boys. My older son transitioned easily into the violin after completing the Kindermusik curriculum. Also, Betsy is personable and easy to work with as far as scheduling and make ups and such. Definitely worth our time and money each week.

My son & I took our first Kindermusik class when he was around 6 months old. He was fascinated by music and the class lent itself to really special, quality time for the two of us together. Betsy is amazing with both moms AND kids of all ages and needs!! We continued with Kindermusik off and on for 4 more years, whenever I could afford a semester and it fit with our schedule. We even had grandparents pay for classes as Christmas/birthday gifts. I went through a very tough divorce during these years, but Betsy and the other moms became a bright spot for us each week and even as a struggling single mom, sacrificing other luxuries for Kindermusik with my son was well worth it. We took classes with 3 different teachers and adored all of them! Now my son is turning 6 years old and has been taking private violin lessons with Ellyn for 8 months. She is fantastic, too. Whenever I get the music 4 life emails and read the descriptions of the baby and toddler classes, I get nostalgic for those days gone by for our family...but I know that means Music 4 Life has left us with some absolutely wonderful memories.
