Great school. Clean school. Caring staff. Quality training. Tons of classes and opportunities for the entire family to train. Holiday parties here are the best! The students and staff truly become a family here! Not a lot of seats inside, but half of the school has windows, so you can stand outside and watch everything.

We started my 8 y/o son here in the fall as a way to get him into a sport when we found team sports just weren’t a draw, for him. I have been so impressed. I so enjoy the way the instruction is done by adults as well as by fellow students who are junior instructors, and the balance they strike between being supportive and warm and still asking for the best from each student. I really enjoy bringing my son here and us being a part of ATA.

I signed my children up for karate and this was the best decision I ever made for my children. The class teaches my children discipline and my children always looking forward to coming to class. If you have children and want them to join any activities ATA is the place for them to be at. You will not be disappointed!!!

When I first enrolled my son into this school, I was nervous however from the moment we stepped into the door we have received nothing but professionalism and good communication. When we first committed to ATA we were not searching to tough up our child or learning how to kick and punch. Awesome school!! The instructor/ owner is an excellent teacher. He demands respect without being harsh or yelling. My son’s and daughter work ethic and all around behavior has improved tremendously since they became students.

Signing up with ATA Steele Creek has been the best decision Ive made in a long time. Im a bit older (52) than most of the kids practicing Tae Kwon Do and I have to say this is, by far, the best school in the Charlotte area. The instructors, Mr. Morales, Mr. Esposito and Mr. Hill, along with the Junior Instructors, are very professional, detailed, friendly and respectful to ALL of the students. I see respect from everyone from the very second you step inside the school. The instructors make sure everyone learns TKD techniques but also respect to others and appreciation to parents/relatives, which is the principal of creating excellent citizens. Id seen schools giving away color belts in order to make kids and parents happy, NOT here. Every kid learns how to block, punch, kick, use weapons. Everyone learns the fundamentals of TKD. ATA Steele Creek is not your typical dojang. Sure you can learn how to kick and sling Nunchucks like Bruce Lee, but at ATA Steele Creek the people are what makes this place special.My son has been going for a few months now and is still as excited to go as he was in his second class. My son is 7.5yrs old and has been training at ATA Steele Creek for half of his life now! He started off fairly timid and lacking some self-confidence. Over the years, he’s gained so much strength, discipline, confidence and respect for himself and others. He just recently earned his 1st degree black belt and said he’d never felt so proud of himself. The instructors at ATA care about more than just kicking and punching with good technique... but they instill life lessons and are great role models for these kids, especially in a difficult time like the present!

We love ATA! Enrolled our 4.5 year old son one week ago. The instructors at ATA are all about teaching respect first. The self defense training is definitely incorporated though.Theres always older kids assisting the instructors, so the ratio of student to teacher is sometimes as low as 2:1.Cant recommend ATA enough!

There are not enough words to accurately describe how amazing the instructors are at ATA Steel Creek! The amount of patience and dedication they have towards the Art and their students is inspirational. The moment we walked through the door, we felt like a part of the family. My 4 year old began his first class as a shy and timid kid, who hated loud noises. In only a few weeks, we watched him transform into a strong, respectful, and loud little warrior. Now, seven months later, he loves going to class, and has really found his strength and confidence. My family and I have been attending ATA Steele Creek for a little over two years. My six year old son started Taekwondo classes when he was four, and my three year old daughter started this past summer. Both of them love attending class and ask to come every day. I have seen such vast improvements in both my children and love seeing them develop in areas of respect, discipline, confidence, physical wellness, and self defense. It is very fulfilling as a parent to see such young children setting difficult goals for themselves and be excited to reach them. For many students at ATA Steele Creek, earning their black belt is their main goal, and along the way they obtain valuable knowledge that is applicable both inside and outside the Taekwondo academy.ATA Steele Creek is so successful because the instructors maintain discipline in their students while simultaneously allowing them to have fun. The instructors are very knowledgeable, patient, and create the perfect atmosphere for students to get excited to learn. The chief instructor is constantly training himself in order to be the best he can for his students. This provides a great example for students and more than qualifies him to instruct. One of the most important things to me as a parent is that each child is truly cared for. While Krav Maga is a very effective form of self defense, the instructors provide a safe and fun atmosphere to learn various tactics. Post Transplant/Imunnosuppressed patient denied 50% refund from ATA Steele CreekGood Morning, All!I really did not want to make this type of post, bc I really like the staff, but here we are.Before I go any further, I want to make it CRYSTAL clear that we tried to go about to the right way by reaching out via THREE separate e-mails only for the owner to not even ACKNOWLEDGE my condition.As many of you know my son started karate at ATA Steele Creek last fall and absolutely LOVED IT! He excelled pretty quickly and was able to move up to the next level.On February 28th of this year, we paid $1926 to cover his karate tuition and new gear cost.He was set to start his new class with his new gear in late March….then Covid happened.ATA has since reopened and resumed classes but the problem (a good problem) is that I received a kidney transplant last May and as a result of that I am permanently immunosuppressed thus more susceptible to getting sick.The ATA facility isn’t that big to begin with, so social distancing would be a challenge.After taking all of that into consideration, my wife and I decided that unfortunately it wouldn’t be safe for our son to return.As I mentioned earlier, we reached out to the ATA staff on 3 separate occasions and proposed a 50% refund (because we wanted to be fair understanding that they are a small business) and to offer our son’s unused gear to another family for free (because we never even had the chance to pick it up).Again, despite what we felt was a very fair offer we were met with responses that didn’t even acknowledge my condition and were told that per our contract NO refund would be offered and that they couldn’t offer a refund to one family and not the others.While we understand that every family can’t receive a refund, our hope was that with my VERY SPECIFIC health condition, and us only seeking a 50% refund that we were making a fair request.I am sure that most of us can agree, especially during this pandemic, $1926 isn’t a small amount to just give away.Again, due to the owner’s complete disregard and ignoring of my situation I doubt we will see any money come back our way, but at a minimum I at least will feel a little better letting the public know who and what we are dealing with.

5 STARS +I can’t say enough good things about ATA Steele Creek. We enrolled our two children a year and half ago and haven’t regretted it for a second. Under the leadership of Mr. Esposito and his instructors. They teach taekwondo to all ages and abilities while also instilling respect, patience and leadership. We have noticed a marked improvement in our children’s confidence, concentration, and they consistently set goals, reach them and then set higher goals of achievement. Enrolling at ATA Steele Creek is one of the best things we have done for our kids!

This establishment is amazing! The instructors are very knowledgeable and they stay abreast with the combat arts.My daughters attend the tiny tiger program and they have developed higher levels of concentration, focus, fitness, and respect.I personally attend the krav-maga classes. The techniques I have learned are simple and effective. The class is rigorous and a fantastic work out.Great value a steal really come out and try you will see for your self.

Im very impressed by how well all of the instructors are with the children. They are patient and kind to all of the children. My son is 6 and he has a great time at the classes. Also, out of all of martial arts schools I looked into, this one is affordable, and this is coming from a single mom. They are very welcoming and it is like a family, but without the drama. I would highly recommend this location to anyone.

Instructors Mr. Esposito and Mr. Moraes are two of the finest human beings I have had the pleasure of studying with. My time in their presence, at their school and with my fellow students was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my martial art career. They are professional, proficient and well versed at educating all levels of students. Whether you are a beginner or life long student, this institution is second to none. Our daughter started there this spring and really enjoys it. Her confidence and coordination both have gone up. Theres a lot of laughing and having fun. However, when a student needs some extra direction to stay focused and respectful the instructors immediately make corrections. The kids respond very well to the discipline. The instructor to student ratio is very good. It varies from about 1:3 to 1:5. We shopped around before choosing this program, and I think we made the right choice.

This place is unethical in its business and moral character. It’s main instructor is known to hit on the mothers and has ruined a marriage where the father confronted him while we were attending our kids class. This place has now illegally charged our account for services cancelled months ago. This place is a zest pool full of kids with no room to move around and only 30 minutes of attention that cannot be managed by 2 instructors. $150 a month for children and $100 for adults? That’s unacceptable and when you call them to dispute, they treat you with arrogance and submit false documentation’s to a customers account to gain accountability for their charges. Disgrace to True Martial Arts!

By far the best school in Charlotte. My son attended for a year, when he first started he had trouble concentrating and following instructions, within a month or two he was on track. Mr. Moraes and Mr. Esposito have such great passion for what they do that they inspire not only the students but the families to be better. I am truly grateful my son attended this school!

My kids have been in the program for 4 years and still share the same excitment as the first day they walked in the school. Mr Esposito has taught them discipline and hard work. Besides that he also teach them the importance of giving back and help the most needed, he does charity events and support blood drive donations. He has created this huge family where everyone cares about each other. What a great example he serve for these kids. I am extremely proud of what my kids have accomplished in this time and the kind of kids they have become. My daughter has been taking lessons in taekwando for over a year now and we’ve been very pleased with her progress. In 2018 me and my family moved to Charlotte NC from Connecticut and one of our first missions was to find a Good Martial Arts school for my son, who was already a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Karate. We researched a few different schools and got the best feel for ATA Steele Creek. Visiting the school and meeting Mr. Esposito and Mr. Moraes made us feel like we made the correct choice. We also noticed the interactions between them and the students seemed to be genuine AND they seemed to know what they were doing. After taking a class, we decided to sign my son up. To say that was one of the best decisions is an understatement. ATA Steele Creek is a GREAT Martial Arts School. It it truly a Family oriented school where everyone gets along and are very respectful to everyone no matter the age, how long youve been there, or your status. Its a great feeling to feel at home as soon as you walk in. Thats how they make you feel. My son is excelling in his continued study and has become a Jr. Instructor helping younger kids continue in their Martial Arts journey. They also offer Krav Maga classes during the weeknights and weekends for adults to learn great realistic defensive skills just in case you have to defend yourself or loved ones. Im not sure that I can properly articulate how wholeheartedly and positively my family and I feel about our experience with ATA Steele Creek. We moved to the Charlotte area in the fall of 2018, knowing virtually no one and have since truly found a unique, exceptional, close knit community at ATA Steele Creek; which truly feels much more like an extended family. I started training in the rigorous adult Krav Maga program at ATA Steele Creek in December of 2018. As a former athlete, but complete novice to martial arts, I had no clue what to expect. As I write this review, just a plus later- I can attest that due to the phenomenal, motivational, insightful and expert guidance of both instructors, (Mr. Esposito and Mr. Moraes) plus the assistance and support of my fellow Krav practitioners; that I am decidedly more physically capable, mentally tough, confident and also more acutely aware of my surroundings; than I have ever been in my entire life. We visited this location about 3 years ago and we were not impressed. The owner at the time was very passive and didnt impress us at all.We came back after hearing it was under new management. We learned that the folks who run and instruct can either make or break it. We had a whole different and much better impression after speaking with the owner this time. So we started bringing our son in Dec 2014 and Ill say that its been such a positive experience. The instructors teach with assertiveness and all while keeping it fun for the kids. I highly recommend ATA Steele Creek.

We love ATA Steele Creek. Joining this school was the best decision I’ve ever made for me and my son. You can’t put a price on everything we get out of our experience here. My son is 10 and has taken Taekwondo for a little over a year and a half. He still loves every minute of it and looks forward to every class. His focus, self esteem, and confidence have grown in leaps and bounds. He has always been a great kid, but has blossomed under the caring yet firm teachings of the instructors here. I am also a member and have been taking the Krav Maga classes for a year. My confidence and self esteem have also soared since starting classes. I’m learning self defense while getting an awesome workout. I’m stronger mentally and physically than I ever have been in my life and it’s due to the amazing people at this school. I began attending Krav Maga classes at ATA Steele Creek in February at the recommendation of my aunt, who is also a student there.I have always wanted to take some form of martial arts classes, but I had never taken the time to seriously pursue it.I enjoyed the first few classes, though it was physically demanding, but I wasnt sure if I would keep attending.I kept going- and may I just say, I am so glad I did. This has been an amazing experience. The teachers are wonderful, professional, and helpful. The other students willingness to help you learn, and give you the best training possible, has helped me so much.My confidence- about what I am capable of, as well as my ability to protect myself, has skyrocketed.I would recommend this school to anyone and everyone! He is thoughtful considerate and kind to all of his students,...and then some... He expects the best from his Staff, junior leaders and students ...and then some... We joke around that he may have OCD, but that is because he has the desire to be not only the best but to bring others up to a new level with him. He is the tide that raises all the boats in the harbor.

Blown away by how amazing the two main instructors are at this facility. Mr. Espizito and Mr. Moraes (spelling may be off) are absolutely outstanding with the kids. My 4 year old son absolutely loves this place. They really have a way of connecting with the children and helping them to understand the basis and fundamentals of martial arts. My son is always excited to go, and really looks up to his teachers. I love how the work they do with him in the mere 30 minutes they have him translates into our everyday lives.Extremely pleased and have no intentions of going anywhere else any time soon!

As a young woman who travels often by myself, I knew I wanted to learn how to protect myself. Not only did I learn to fight from Mr. Moraes and Mr. Esposito, I also found a home away from home with all of the members at the school. The year and a half I spent learning at this school ended only once work sent me north, not because I wanted to leave. 110% recommend the krav maga classes to anyone who is up for a challenge and a fantastic full-body workout (and you feel like a badass after youre done).

My son started Taekwondo a little less than a year ago at ATA Steele Creek, and I have only good things to say about it. Very Friendly people, like a second family! My kids love their Taekwondo class and their instructors. They are learning so much! I love Krav Maga and I am excited to learn more and watching my kids become better and better! The instructors are a very patient with the kids, and willing to work with them when they need a little extra time. My children enjoy their Taekwondo classes very much!

What an amazing Krav Maga school. Not only are you learning how to protect yourself/family, its a great workout also. Losing weight as quick as I put it on. The instructors teach in a way for everyone to understand and they are willing to work with you one on one after class or even schedule private lessons which helps so much. Would recommend this school to anyone and everyone that is interested in wanting to learn and study Krav Maga.

I am a 2nd Degree recommended Black Belt moved from Tennnessee to North Carolina due to Job Transfer. My Instructor in Tennessee recommended this school to continue my Training towards earning my next rank. Initially I was skeptical because of the commute time (It takes atleast 45 mins to 1 hr to drive to the school). I Went to this school on the first day of my Job transfer and both the instructors were welcoming and treated me like their Own student even though they never met me before. Mr. Esposito genuinely showed interest in reviewing my Graduation Material and his teachings are Excellent.I see there are lot of energy and enthusiasm roaming around this school. ATA Steele Creek is hands down the BEST martial arts school in Charlotte, NC and the surrounding areas. If you dont believe me, ask the members who drive over 30-45 minutes just to come to this school. That alone speaks volumes in regards to the quality of the school, its instructors, and its students. Leading from the front, ATA Steele Creek constantly raises their bar of expectations and standards of discipline, beginning with its instructors and cascading down to its Junior Leaders and even Tiny Tigers.I personally have been taking Krav Maga classes for the last 18 months and have recently started taking private boxing lessons as well. Since Mr. Esposito has taken over and bought ATA Steele Creek, the last 2 years has been wonderful. He is highly qualified to teach your kids and adults in Taekwondo. My oldest daughter on top of attending tkd class, has been in a CIT(Certified Instructors in Training) class for 1.5 years. She has grown into a very confident 12yr old girl who can assist a class full of students. This is a huge improvement from her being so shy and quiet.Your kids will learn not just tkd but much more to help them be wonderful citizens where ever they end up! Mr. Esposito is such a wonderful example of working hard, striving for excellence, professionalism, and leading by example(as he always states)!As soon as you enter the school you will be greeted by Mr. Moraes with a smile and a firm hand shake. He leads the Krav Maga class that me and my husband attend. I am amazed with the amount of knowledge he has in different martial arts.This is our families home away from home. My kids have meet their best friends there. They do a wonderful job building a family atmosphere by having trunk or treat during Halloween, Christmas parties, parents night out, and summer camps.I definitely recommend you give them a try! :)
