My daughter has been to several schools in the Brandon area. Hands down MKU has been the best experience for our entire family. The school is very clean and the staff is wonderful. My daughter has changed so much and for the better. Her vocabulary has tripled, she is so independent, speaks Spanish and has grown into a compassionate amazing girl. You pay for what you get and you will not be disappointed. I think parents do not do their research on Montessori schools before enrolling and they have different expectations then what is delivered from the Montessori way. Children must learn self control and what behaviors are socially appropriate. You cannot expect this to come from only attending school. The Montessori way in my opinion is a lifestyle and it requires parents to be involved in their childs behavior and education. Parents play a crucial role in their childs development and have to stay engaged and hold their child accountable. Otherwise, you will be disappointed and blame your parenting failures on the school when in reality the problems start at home.

My son is THRIVING! The best part of a Montessori education is the independence. They allow him to work on lessons that are above his age group in the multilevel classroom. The school also incorporates many forms of enrichment; Spanish, Art, Music, Zumba and Yoga. The teachers are innovative, patient and loving. I wish they offered classes for elementary school as well.

Extremely disappointed. They have to many Students not enough educators. The teacher my son did have raised her hand to him and was unable to pronounce English words. There is quick turn around with teachers as well as educators because they seems difficult to work with. Communication is horrible and they are extremely judgmental. If they want perfect children they shouldnt have entered the childcare field. They are unorganized and all over the place. Relived to be through with the school. It was an unfortunate experience.

The facility is clean and the teachers are really nice, but after two months of having my son at MKU, we decided to go to another daycare center. The communication was almost non existent. I never knew what my 18 month old was doing as no papers would ever come home, no log of how he was eating/sleeping etc. and by the time I got there, the teachers were already gone, so none of the aids knew how his day was. They were unorganized in that when I would pick him up, his things were in 3 different rooms and I often had to search for them adding time to the end of my day when I just wanted to pick up my child and go home. All of that would have been okay for me to deal with since the teachers were very nice, and my son did seem to enjoy going there, but I decided to leave when he fell and hit his head, and I was not called, there was no incident report written, and no teacher could tell me what happened. I believe he probably just fell as most little kids do, but the lack of effort and communication was something I could not over look. The director was apologetic and helped to try to fix the situation after, but to me it was too late. All the teachers were so sweet and good to my child, but I think there needs to be more communication and organization.

Clean and safe. My kid loves it there. The teachers are trust worthy and kind. Also very helpful with potty training and the curriculum keeps the kids engaged. Montesorri kids universe is the best childcare facility in Valrico/Brandon/Riverview area. Highly recommended them to all my friends.

Ill start with the positives. Its a clean school and the teachers are kind. They were able to get my 1 year old to be social when he is typically very shy. And my oldest loved Ms. Leena. My two boys were there for a year.My issue is there is a level of carelessness and inconsistency when it comes to communicating with parents. They consistently sent my boys home with other childrens blankets, cups, etc., but those a pretty minor in comparison. For the summer, parents were emailed a permission slip to sign for activities they would have. I did not sign it for a reason, and no one bothered to consider that fact when they allowed my 4 year old to participate in a bounce house where he ended up with glass lodged in his foot. I was called to come get my children since my oldest was hurt, and upon arrival I asked the front desk woman (who, to my understanding no longer works there) why my son was allowed to do participate. Her response was Sorry, we just ended up letting all of the kids go anyway.I had to take my son to a doctor for Xrays, and had to help nurses hold him down as they pulled a 1-inch long, curved shard of glass out of his foot.My kid was very sad and very hurt. If he had been more seriously injured, this would have turned into a very big issue. This level of carelessness goes back to day one, when a registration check was lost, and found days later stapled to the registration form, after wed already given them another one. They obviously returned that original registration check in that situation. And they agreed to refund some of the tuition to cover a portion of my four-year-olds medical bill from the glass incident. But its the principle of a huge lack of attention, which shouldnt happen in an environment when youre being trusted with someones child.Since weve moved schools, Ive gotten daily written communication about my youngest (who turned two last week) and weekly communication about my four year old. I think most of the people at MKU mean well, but I think there needs to be some serious training in protocol and communication.

I have a child in the toddler room and a child in the primary class at MKU. My oldest hated traditional daycares but is thriving beyond belief with her class. My toddler loves his teacher and is also ahead of his age expectations thanks to her. I love that the school provides extracurricular activities (yoga, Zumba, music classes with a real music teacher, art, and gardening). Both of my children are on track to becoming bilingual thanks to the multilingual teachers there. I love that theyre learning so much about another culture. I also love that they are taught to be individuals, independent, respectful, curious, and loving. My oldest is constantly telling me how proud she is of me and that I have great ideas which is a reflection of how shes being treated by her teachers and friends. The whole school is monitored/recorded by cameras in every class and on the playgrounds and that gives me peace of mind as well. Ill never send my kids anywhere else.
