Just wanted to extol the virtues of the Y in Chinatown which allowed for swimming throughout the pandemic safely. As a physician, I can personally attest to the great attentiveness to the safety measures instituted which allowed us swimmers to swim. Kudos to them all. It is really the best value for my money as a place to workout and to swim. The staff is exceptionally kind and take the time to know our names and greet us. These small gestures mean so much.

The people are so nice and helpful. They seem to know everyones names as they walk through the door! I also like that I can go to any of the Ys in Boston and I really like the diversity of the facilities. I only paid a little more than I used to at Planet Fitness but I get everything they have plus the pool, court, and fitness classes. The classes are my favorite part. I am having much better results with my instructor than I did alone!

Adult swim clinic has helped make my stroke much, more efficient, and as a result reinvigorated my workouts. There may even be hope for my kick and flip turns! The instructor, Mike, offers great advice and easy to remember tips in a supportive, welcoming environment for all swimmers. The Wang YMCA facility is extremely fastidious in following CV19 protocols. Im really glad I signed up for the clinic.

Basketball courts are decent. Young security guard guy felt the need to micromanage everybodys movements and seemed to be power-tripping. Supposedly for COVID-related reasons but it made no sense. Kicked me off the court 45 mins into a one hour session and wouldnt even let me take a last shot, said it was policy. Kind of weird...

I have been using the pool during COVID and the staff and management have been incredible from the foyer to the poolside and so considerate and helpful. I feel they take our safety very seriously and are always open to making sure we understand the system and policies that are in place to keep us all safe and fit. They manage to do this with good humor and a sense of kindness. YMCA has proven to be the silver lining to COVID.

I got a discounted rate as a homeless veteran. I wanted the locker space too as a hobo. I was in the pilates class with the instructor who expressed that she wanted to go through law school. I liked that but the other students said nothing offering no support. I like the location near the T.

The Wang YMCA is pretty well but I rated four stars because of the lockers in the boys since I in my teens. Many lockers are locked and a lot of lockers have been rusted on the inside on the bottom. So if you are a man or boy, I suggest using the lockers near the showers. Besides, some of the lockers are written on (only 1, I looked inside every locker without locks) and some lockers are missing hooks (about 1 or 2 hooks). The exercise equipment is a bit dated but the gym and equipment is overall good. The thing I like the most is the pool, its very nice and I swim there on Sundays, Fridays, and Wednesdays. Even though I like the pool, I have four scars due to an injury that I blame about for pool material.

They got new equipment in the weight room recently. I go in the mornings usually and the crowdedness level is ok. In the evening it can get pretty full(the weight room) though and one has to wait to use a machine for example.

I frequent this location to swim. The pool is great and the staff at the front desk have always been friendly. I am disappointed by the music they play in the weight room, it is very profane and sexualized.

This is a family oriented YMCA near the Tufts Medical Center and Orange line. The ambiance here is relaxing as it is completely non-pretentious. There is also filter water not all YMCAs offer filtered water. Joining fee is waived if you join on Tuesday. I pay $43/month and can use YCMAs all over Boston or 10/month anywhere in US. The classes are adequate with enough classes I would like to do everyday. I like the view of the street while Im working out on the treadmill. The Zumba class is high intensity. Basketball is particularly Best here and there is an olympic size pool.

This gym is a joke. This is the only gym near me for lifting on the spot.Unfortunately and generally the Asian high school (BOYS) and even Asian men, claim the weight room like its theirs. I totally understand that this is in Chinatown, and the Chinese and Asian community are the predominant majority. But that doesnt mean that you should feel entitled enough to take over the weights and lifting machines for a whole hour, then theres the texting, screaming and/or playing around with your friends while other people are waiting for you to finish your workout, its disrespectful as hell. Nice to be young and energetic, but the weight room isnt a playground.Even the staff allows this behavior. The staff is there to keep this place as organized and efficient as possible. Not play around with the high schoolers as Ive seen many times. They close the gym a little later than 10 just to satisfy the boys, but if none of these boys were there, theyd be kicking us the regular people out by 9:45A lot of the members who Ive talked to feel this way as well, and feel a little too skeptical and uncomfortable with lifting in the weight room because like I said, the lifting area is claimed by these folks from 12pm till closing. Its almost impossible to complete my lifting sessions here.My gym partner had enough too, he was coming with me as well. As he says, The only thing these boys are gaining is stares, cause everyones tired of their bull****Staff. Dont be so biased just because you built a relationship with these man-children and students. People of all colors and races come to this gym too and want to use the machines as well So, why dont you do your job and monitor the machines and the weight room like you should to avoid people from abusing time? Nobody should feel like they cant go inside a weight room because its aimed to a specific race. I hate to come off as the bitter one, but I pay a good amount of money for this kind of experience man.

Ok, i dont usually rate, even in a place where i really didnt get satisfied, but this YMCA in Chinatown, BOSTON is the worst service you can receive. They call you a liar, they tell you youre wrong, they do not do anything to get your issues resolved, they have no idea how to gain costumer, they interrupt you, they are rude. This is ridiculous. They are terrible.I do not recommend them to anyone. i am out of this amazing gym just because how they treat you at the front desk! i hope this gets a solution!!!!

The rules set in fitness and weight room are a joke, its like what is the point of having them if no one cares, even the staffs. Some high school students inside the wieght room screams, like what the hell is this a playground. People that use chalk on the bar and dont not clean it up afterwards, disgusting. I dont know if they are high school students or college students, but seriously why hang out in the weight room when it is already cramped. There was a rule saying if not lifting please go outside, but who cares since the staffs doesnt care. Also some kids go into the fitness rooms playing with the machines. I dont really care but seriously what if the kids get hurt. Totally have to agree with Nancy Lin who said that the gym is unprofessional. There is a lot more other problems I would like to address, but I dont go the ymca anymore so good luck. Other than that, the ymca have all the equipment required for a decent workout.

Equipment is bent or broken, facilities are unclean, and the state of the men’s locker room is inexcusable: moldy shower curtains, phlegm in the sinks, and hair clippings on the floor. Came in the afternoon to a weight room floor crowded with tweens, chatting like it was social hour while “using” the majority of equipment rendering it impossible to get a solid workout in. Avoid if possible
