David is a great music teacher. He taught me how to read music, apply music to the guitar, build chords from scratch, and how to play scales over the top of chords. Everything I had wanted to know about playing the guitar for the last 20 years he got me to understand and play in about 7 months time. I definitely recommend him!!

I started taking guitar lessons with David a little over a year ago and its been a great experience for me as someone whos in his mid-50s and never played an instrument before. David is patient and always encouraging. I think without his patience and encouragement I might have given up by now. I am not the fastest learner but he is making it a fun experience and I would miss something without the twice-a-month guitar lessons. And most importantly, I see my progress and getting more and more comfortable playing as time goes by. Thank you, David, for sharing your talents with us as your students!

I have been taking lessons with Dave for 4 or 5 years now. I really appreciate his calm, laid-back approach to teaching and amazing breadth of musical knowledge. He has a gift for taking difficult skills and breaking them down to simple, achievable bites. My confidence in my guitar playing and singing has grown immensely since I have been working with him.I would highly recommend him to anyone of any style, but especially roots-oriented styles such as blues, bluegrass, folk, early jazz, etc.

Ive been taking lessons with Dave every other week for 11 months. I had played many years ago but was self taught. I was ready to learn how to play better and to have fun. Working with Dave is very enjoyable. He is patient, knowledgeable, and the lessons are fun. I would recommend Dave to everyone.

I have been taking lessons with Dave for over a year now, and he is a very patient and knowledgeable teacher. He has a very flexible time schedule and it works perfectly for someone who is either working or in school since you can pick your time every week. He encourages trying out new songs and always has great feedback and knows some fun little tricks to make playing a little easier. I would recommend Dave to any of my friends and family who are looking to learn how to play guitar or improve their skills.

I have been taking lessons from Dave for about 11 months. I came into the lessons with an acoustic guitar and not one ounce of music experience, and he is my first and only instructor. Dave was super patient and got me on the right track. He is an excellent instructor who possesses a wealth of knowledge, not only of the guitar, but also in music theory, music history, and other instruments. Some other positive aspects of taking lessons from Dave: He will give you drills to practice, but always encourages playing music. Thats what it is all about, right? He will also solo over my strumming which helps me get used to playing with others. Dave has a great ear for music and can help figure out chords for songs you might want to learn. Finally, Dave, being in a band himself, is well connected to the Baltimore music scene, and its always a pleasure to talk with him for a couple of minutes about shows, bands, and other musicians in the city. One more thing, and this is important to me; he is not a clock watcher. Yes, lessons sometimes run over, and that shows his dedication to his students and his enjoyment of the craft.

David is an excellent, enthusiastic and patient teacher. He will accommodate almost any musical taste and can help you learn how to play just about any song you are interested in. Twice a year organizes a recital for his students which is a great way to encourage you to keep practicing!

Probably more difficult than figuring out which guitar to buy when I decided to pick it up was deciding on a teacher. The internet is filled with many instructors with impressive credentials. What I noticed about Daves website is that, unlike others who focused on what they know, Dave focused on how he would teach a student. There is that big, big difference between knowing something and teaching it, and Dave was focused on helping the student to learn.I have been with Dave for two years this month and am very happy with my choice. Yes, of course he knows how to play, and knows this intricacy of the fretboard and that intricacy of theory. But anyone teaching should know those things anyway. What I like about Dave, and why I highly recommend him, is that he is interested in getting me to play that way, and will go over a piece, or even a measure, as many times as necessary to get me there. Thankfully, he not only knows how to teach, but also possesses that most important attribute for someone in the field: the patience of Job.

I love my lessons with Dave Huber. It took me a long time to find a teacher I as comfortable with as my first guitar teacher. Dave is patient, kind, clear, and so knowledgeable. He is great at showing me how to do things in different ways, until I get them. He can figure out any song I bring him and teach it to me, yet has the patience to wait peacefully as I fumble around. Dave knows when to push me and when to ease up. I would recommend Dave to any guitar player of all levels.

I was totally new to both reading and playing music as well as new to the guitar. I wanted to try something that would challenge myself. Dave has been patient and thorough in his instruction, taking the time to explain the reasoning behind certain methods and encouraging practical exercises. I never feel rushed or intimidated. If you are beginning guitar, he is ideal.

Ive been taking weekly lessons with Dave for nearly two years now. When I started with him, I had love for music but no ability to play an instrument. With Daves help I can now play guitar confidently; even to the point where I will jump in and play with more experienced friends. Daves main strength I think is patience. Im the sort of person who gets anxious performing / playing in front of others. The fact that Dave created a space where I feel comfortable playing says a lot about him! Another thing I enjoy about lessons with Dave is that hell take the time to help you learn to figure out how to play the songs you like. He has a great ear, and a lot of knowledge of music theory.

Ive been taking lessons weekly with Dave for over a year now. When I started, Id never played an instrument before--except for the trombone back in 4th grade band. Dave worked with me to help me learn how to read standard notation and tabs, get familiar with the fretboard, and begin developing as a guitar player.Daves got an amazing depth of knowledge of styles and theory. Hes helped me with flatpicking and fingerpicking styles, and Im now able to play some rudimentary versions of Doc Watson and Rev. Gary Davis tunes. I want to emphasize that his help has allowed me to get there in just a year of playing--friends of mine whove been playing for years are surprised by my playing, and I give full credit to Dave. His greatest assets as a teacher, without a doubt, are his patience and encouragement. Theres been hundreds of times when Ive flubbed notes and chords over and over, and hes never once shown any frustration, but just said, thats all right, take your time. Hes passionate about the music he teaches, and that enthusiasm definitely inspires me to practice, practice, practice!Dave is friendly and knowledgeable, a calm and patient teacher, and an amazing guitar player. You wont regret picking Dave to teach you how to play!
