Rattletree School of Marimba raises the bar of music education. Owners Joel and Rakefet Laviolette have created a welcoming environment at Rattletree School of Marimba. They have helped me grow professionally and personally as Ive learned the beautiful music of Zimbabwe. Ive learned and played alongside novice and professional musicians, advancing my skills with confidence through compassionate instruction. I highly recommend Rattletree School of Marimba to anyone interested in learning with others.

The Rattletree School of Marimba is so much fun! I had never played an instrument before, but a friend took me there for a free Community Party. I had a blast. Within 5 minutes, I was actually playing a song. The music is joyful and energizing. Plus, its amazing how quickly you can learn. The teachers were super helpful and patient. I signed my boyfriend and myself up for weekly classes together as a built in date night!

Never in my life i played an instrument, when I went to a party at the Rattletree School of Marimba, i got so amazed and so happy with the music and the marimbas that immediately enroll for a class and purchase a marimba with my friend.Then I started to be part of the band and my life changed to happiness and feeling better day by day. Thank you to Rakefet and Joel for creating this incredible school. Now Im living in Seattle and I miss playing and having these incredible people around.

Weve enjoyed seeing Rattletree performances on many occasions, at Austin farmers markets, poolside at Barton Springs... Its always a pleasure. I can hear the marimbas now, like terrific rhythmic wind chimes amplified. After seeing Rakefet at an Austin small business growth accelerator, I recognized what a special person she is, and what a precious organization Rattletree is.

The music is amazing; joined classes as the music helped me de-stress after a hectic work day. Stayed on as a student for two years, also getting the chance to perform all over town. Joel, Rakefet and Mike can teach marimba so easily even to people like me with no music background.
