Great locally owned and operated business in the Austin area! My husband actually taught lessons there and loved it. The instructors are some of the most talented musicians and the environment overall is one of the best Ive experienced (especially compared to music store chains that attempt to give lessons). I highly recommend ASM to all my friends and family wanting to grow their musical knowledge and skill.

I had the most magical experience at the school. The office staff was very helpful and informative. The educational environment is relaxed, nonjudgmental and fun for people of all skill levels. My banjo skills were pretty crunchy at first but after my many lessons at Austin school of music Im ready for a deliverance style duel!! I would recommend to anyone over the other lessons available at guitar center where I personally saw the instruction staff draw straws to teach an excited child. Thank ASM and keep Austin weird!!!!!

The Austin School of Music is a truly wonderful place to be. Anyone who says otherwise is just wrong on the basis of it truly being the best at what it does.I have taken lessons (bass and vocals) since I was barely a teenager and am now an adult and my opinion has not waned. The staff of musicians is as top notch as you could hope for and range over a vastness of styles that I couldnt begin to describe. The owner, Dave Sebree, is one of the most wonderful human beings you will ever meet who will go to the end of the Earth to help kids learn music, in addition to being one of the most proficient guitar players in the music world today BAR NONE.Furthermore, their Rock Camp USA program is due credit for making me who I am as a performing and recording musician today in addition to being the highlight of my middle school and high school summers.I can not possibly say enough good about this place and highly recommend it

One of my favorite places to be. Ive been taking lessons from here since I was 8. I still stop by and hang out with the teachers there. everybody that works there is a BLAST to be around. I would not be the musician I am today without the help that this place has given me.

Kevin McKinney is a great instructor. My daughter had a good time learning electric guitar from him.

I went in during office hours and nobody was in the office. I sat in the waiting area and a few people that worked there quickly walked by, pretending to be busy as they mumbled to themselves. I waited for 20 minutes and nobody showed up to talk to me. I continued to check back in the office but nobody was there either (this was 2 hours before office close at 7PM).I was able to get an email address for someone who coordinates lessons (Eli) through a friend but Eli never responded. This place and the staff are absolutely terrible and disorganized. I was going to give this place hundreds of dollars a month. Too bad...

Called a week in advance and scheduled a lesson. Showed up on time and paid for my lesson. 2 minutes they call me back into the office and told me that my instructor wasnt there and that Id have to come back in a week later to receive my services. Disorganized, and a very poor first impression, but thanks for taking my money in advance!

I have progressed so quickly in the short time I have taken lessons at the Austin School of Music. These people know and love what they do!

This place has been around since Austin was weird and continues to be Austins coolest resource for real music lessons! Im talking some of Austins best talent...Kevin McKinney (guitar), Ed Jarusinsky (drums), Darin Murphy (everything), Cid Sanchez (guitar), Alex Marrero (percussion, vox, guitar), Tina Turner (violin), Tim Girardot (piano)...the list goes on. Its a whos who of some of Austins best & brightest & the cool thing is that they really enjoy what theyre doing & take the time to connect with students. They have rock camps, a killer studio & recital hall & have 2 locations both north & south. Cant say enough groovy things about Dave Sebree & his rad staff there.
